Blessings Folk!

Today’s reading from the “So That’s Why!” Bible consist of pp. 155-160, Leviticus 17-22.

I ask that you would aggressively pray for the following today…

Bob
Peter
Mandy
Donna
Tammy
Penney
Michael
Leif

and more…

All of these have a serious condition and/or disease.

Two are pastors together at the same church...one colon cancer, the other some sort of brain trouble. The previous pastor died of cancer.

We must pray for one another.

We must be obedient to the voice of the Lord.

Who might the Lord call to lay hands upon each of these?

Who might the Lord call to speak forth His healing?

Be reminded of the truth of the Lord…


Matt 4:23-24
23 Jesus was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.
24 The news about Him spread throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and pains, demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and He healed them.

We are to do likewise in the Power and Name of the Lord…

John 14:12-14
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Pray for the sick.
Pray for the diseased.
Pray for the demonic…(yes, you know many...you may not be aware...ask the Lord for discernment..not every problem is organic in nature)
Pray for the afflicted.

If you are saved, you are a vessel of the Most High God. He has empowered you for the work of the Kingdom of God. He will lead through the Spirit. You will know what to do

Will you do it?

Determine now, before hand, to listen to the voice of the Lord and to be obedient.

Many of our “virtual” family here are undergoing some trying weather times...ice, snow...tough winter weather.

Remember that the Lord knows what is happening!


Job 38:29-30
29 Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?
30 The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.

Ps 147:1-15
147 Praise ye the Lord : for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.

3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

Look what the Lord does…

Heals
Gathers together the outcast
Binds up wounds
Knows the number of the stars...calls them all by names
Lifts up the meek
Cast down the wicked
Covers the heaven with clouds
Prepares the rain for the earth
Makes grass grow upon the mountains
Gives the beast his food
Strengthened the bars of Jerusalem
Blessed the children within Jerusalem
Makes peace
Fills with finest wheat
Gives the snow like wool
Scatters the hoarfrost (frost) like ashes
Cast forth ice like morsels
His Word melts them
He causes the wind to blow
He causes the water to flow

Look at His character…

Great
Infinite understanding
Does not delight in the strength of man nor animal...as man does!
Takes pleasure in those that fear Him

Look at our response…

Sing unto the Lord
Praise the Lord
Fear Him
Hope in His mercy

Let us praise the Lord...without ceasing.

Today’s reading in the “So That’s Why!” Bible consist of pp. 145-149...don’t have the exact chapters from Leviticus in front of me… HappyHappy

How do you live your life?

Do you live in the past? Regretting decisions? Questioning “what if”?

Do you live in the present, giving little thought to the past or the future?

Are you always looking to tomorrow, never rejoicing in the moment?

Do you live in a manner which will glorify God...be it present or future?

As to the past…


Phil 3:13-14
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Forgetting those things which are behind...past...
Reaching forth unto those things which are before...future...
Press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus...present...press in...press on...

The Lord has a high calling for each believer in the Lord Jesus.

We must press on.

Here is the future that I desire. Read it carefully…

Ps 71:18
18 Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.
KJV

“Now...when I am old and grayheaded”...God, do not forsake me.

The Psalmist sought the strength of the Lord for a two-fold purpose.

First, “until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation.”

We must manifest the strength of the Lord in the generation we live. So many older do not do such. The generations coming after us are watching. What do they see?

Each generation in the present is to receive strength from one another.

Second, “and Thy power to every one that is to come.”

Our lives should be lived so that those who are to come...those yet born….will hear and know of the power of God

To this generation we declare the strength of the Lord by Word and deed.

To those yet to come, the Power of God will be manifest by the testimony of the lives we lived and the fruit of righteousness and holiness...the blessing of family.

Choose today to live this way.

Glory of God - Honor of Kings

Today’s reading from the “So That’s Why!” Bible consists of pages 139-144, Leviticus 5-10.

Often when folk are reading through the Word of God they get bogged down in portions thereof.

We had a gentleman last week ask “how long will we be in all the begats?” He was questioning the purpose of some that he was reading. Yet, still he was reading. Yeah!!
Leviticus often brings the same question. Why all the detail about sacrifices? What is the point to the “new testament” church?

Here is the short answer to a deep question. HappyHappy

Every word in the Word is of import.

The “family trees” are revealing. They trace the line from which Messiah would come. They actually give insight into the news of the days. The struggles in the mid-east are family squabbles. Many mid-eastern folk are of the line of Abraham. Now with rejection of Messiah (Jews) and acceptance of deception (Islam) the struggle continues to increase.

The intense detail related to the Tabernacle of Moses and the varied sacrifices and offerings are very interesting.

Every detail reveals or foreshadows an element of redemption through the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God.

Every part of the Tabernacle is a “type” of the Lord...the silver sockets, the layout, the hooks, the materials, the patterns, etc. etc. The most minute of design is significant.

Much has been written about such through the years. I have books with literally hundreds of pages examining the truths revealed in the Tabernacle and the sacrifices.

“But,” you say, “what does that have to do with me? What is to be learned...gleaned…?”

Hear the Word of the Lord…


Prov 25:2
It is the glory of God to conceal a thing:
but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.
KJV

God has concealed much within His Word.

He is not trying to be deceptive or anything of the like.

He desires for us to search out the matter…to study to show ourselves approved…

2 Tim 2:15-16
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
KJV

We are to search out the matter so as to have more of the glory of the Lord revealed.

The Word warns us...shun profane and vain babblings...this is much of what occurs when folk...particularly the “scholarly”...seek to “search out the matter.” They become more enamored with their ability to present striking explanations than they do with the revealing of the glory and Truth of God. They exalt man and his ability to understand and reason.

Our searching should bring us to greater intimacy with the Lord.
Our searching should allow the revelation of God to increase.
Our searching should bring forth the continued increase in holiness.

In the searching of the matter the humility of the Lord will increase within us.

Therefore, press on through the “hard” passages.

Ask the Lord to reveal to you that which He has for today.

Read and listen.
He will instruct.

We are honored by having access to the Word of God. Most of the true church through the ages has not been blessed with their own personal copies.

For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

Children in the Fire

Today’s reading from the “So That’s Why” Bible consist of pp. 116-122, Exodus (sorry about the Genesis reference yesterday...thanks for pointing it out!!) 25-30.

Today is a day of extreme personal emotion...from one end of the spectrum to another…

Joy, thankfulness, gratitude...on the blessing of the Lord in a God-fearing wife...today is our wedding anniversary...God is good.


Prov 5:18
18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

But, then there is the realization that today is the “anniversary” of the Supreme court ruling that “legalized” abortion in the united States of America.

More than 45 million have died in the past 36 years at the hand of the abortionist.

Does the Word of the Lord have anything to say about this?

Most would say yes.

But what does the Lord say.

Well, to begin with…

Ex 20:13
13 Thou shalt not kill.
KJV

Now, I’m well aware that most of the debate related to abortion centers on a “woman’s right to choose.” The magnificently evil moniker of “choice” had clouded the issue. The enemy is sly and deceitful.

It is not an issue of “choice.”

I know the arguments…”what about incest, what about rape, what about…?”

One act of evil is not rectified nor negated by another.

The bottom line issue is that of selfishness.

People want to “control” their own life.
People exalt themselves as God...professing to know right from wrong...all the while deceiving themselves.

People worship at the altar of “convenience”. It is easier to abort an unborn life than it is to face the challenges of the life ahead.

Hear the Word of the Lord related to those who offered life as an offering to a pagan god. Molech was a pagan god. The people of the Lord were warned by God, repeatedly, not to pass their seed/children/offspring through the fire unto Molech.

In other words, not to sacrifice their children...kill them in a fire offering unto Molech.

We would say, “we would never do that.”

Yes we do.

We offer our children through abortion.

We worship the God of “right”, “convenience”, “freedom”, “money”, “don’t want to bring a child into this world…”, etc. etc.

Lev 18:21
21 And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the Lord .

Lev 20:2-5
2 Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones.
3 And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name.
4 And if the people of the land do any ways hide their eyes from the man, when he giveth of his seed unto Molech, and kill him not:
5 Then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a whoring after him, to commit whoredom with Molech, from among their people.

Jer 32:35
35 And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

Join with me in repenting and confessing before the Lord.

If the household of faith walks in forgiveness the Lord will move.

You would be amazed at how many “pastors” favor abortion. The most heated reactions that I’ve seen to the issue has been through these “leaders.”

They are literally slaughtering the sheep.

Children...a Blessing!

The united States of American now has a new chief executive - President. Also a new congress.

Here is what the new president said the past couple of years upon the campaign trail...in varied forms…

"Throughout my career, I've been a consistent and strong supporter of reproductive justice, and have consistently had a 100% pro-choice rating with Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America.

When South Dakota passed a law banning all abortions in a direct effort to have Roe overruled, I was the only candidate for President to raise money to help the citizens of South Dakota repeal that law. When anti-choice protesters blocked the opening of an Illinois Planned Parenthood clinic in a community where affordable health care is in short supply, I was the only candidate for President who spoke out against it. And I will continue to defend this right by passing the Freedom of Choice Act as president.

Many times he said…

"The first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedom Of Choice Act."

Well, we will see if this is true.

This truly reflects the condition of our country. I expect the unsaved to respond to “wonderful, lofty rhetoric.” I hope that those who are true believers will speak forth the truth.

For the most part they have not.

Many folk who profess to be believers are rejoicing that the person who is the most adamant about the “right” to kill the unborn...and also the born that just happen to survive an abortion...is now president.

Folk readily say “well, God raises kings and brings down kings.” True. But when they say this they forget that often the Lord raises up kings to be used for judgment of His people who have walked in disobedience...who have worshipped their own desires…

We are to pray for the leadership. I’m praying that all...local, state, federal...will be completely and totally saved...

We are to stand for the Truth of the Lord.

We are to resist evil.

One can not say “oh, I’m supporting them because God tells us to submit to the powers that be…”.

We are to submit to good not evil.

As mentioned in a previous time together, I’m reminded of this vividly every year. Our wedding anniversary is January 22…the same day as the Roe v Wade ruling by the Supreme Court which found the “right” for overt murder of children.

Be reminded of the Word of the Lord…

Ps 139:14-18
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

This year is even more special.

As we await to see if Obama will fulfill his repeated promise to sign the “Freedom of Choice Act” as his very first act...knowing that millions more will die…

We rejoice in learning that our third daughter...Lenee...is expecting her first child. Lenee and Aaron married October 2007.

Number 7 grandbaby...5 here, 1 due in March, Lenee’s in September...

6 Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.

Inauguration...Celebrate a life...

Today’s reading from the “So That’s Why” Bible consists of pp 99-104, Exodus 12-15.

For what do you desired to be remembered?
Who do you want to praise you?
What is your greatest pursuit in life?
Whom do you serve?

Bejamin H. Hill said the following of the man whose birth we celebrate today. A man that is acknowledged as one of the greatest Americans that ever lived.

“He was a foe without hate, a friend without treachery, a soldier without cruelty, a victim without murmuring. He was a public officer without vices, a private citizen without wrong, a neighbor without reproach, a Christian without hypocrisy and a man without guilt. He was Caesar without his tyranny, Napoleon without his selfishness, and Washington without his reward.”

This man has been without equal in our lives.

He pursued the heart of God with passion.

He walked in obedience unto the Lord while speaking and living forth the truth without reservation.

We do well to remember him.

We would do better to learn of his life and to emulate it.

The world will point to those of its own to heap accolades upon.

The world snickers at hypocrisy.
The world winks at unfaithfulness.
The world laughs at overt lies.
The world prefers to look upon the externals...lineage, skin color, socio-economic standing...rather than upon the character of a man.

We see it in our time.

The thief.

The liar.

The adultery.

The swindler.

All are exalted in our society.

The world rejoices in the fruit of the leaven of sin within man.

Such are given positions of authority...are praised as “shrewed”...are proclaimed as “successful.”

They are given “holidays.”

Nothing could be further from the truth.

What does the Lord call us to do?

...to seek the Lord

1 Chron 16:11
11 Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.

...to be holy

1 Peter 1:15-16
15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Today’s reading in the “So That’s Why” Bible consists of pp. 87-90 - Exodus 4-6.

The enemy is sly in his strategy. Remember that he comes to kill, steal and destroy.

Hear the Word of the Lord. I’m drawn to this passage every year at this time.

Before you read, give thanks to the Lord, for you are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are not a “mistake.” You are a marvelous creation of the Most High.


Ps 139:1-10
1 O Lord , thou hast searched me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord , thou knowest it altogether.
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

Let’s lift it up to the Lord...

Lord:
you have searched me
you have known me
you know my sitting and arising
you know my thoughts
you scrutinize my path and my lying down
you are intimately...again, intimately...acquainted with all my ways
you know every word from my tongue
you have surrounded me behind and before and laid your hand upon me
I can not attain to even begin to comprehend such knowledge
You are where I am
Your hand will lead me
You formed me in my inward parts
You wove me in my mother’s womb

Thank you, Lord!

The Money Faileth

Today’s reading in the “So That’s Why” Bible consists of pp. 81-86 - Exodus 1-3.

Let me follow-up on our time together yesterday.

You’ll remember that the Egyptians sold themselves into slavery because “the money faileth.”

Pharaoh, through Joseph, was able to procure all the money, livestock, housing, etc. in the land.

Pharaoh owned everything.

It was all exchanged for food.

As stated yesterday, I believe that we as a nation have been headed in a similar direction…the pace is accelerating.

We do not have “real” money - it is fiat.
We really don’t “have” possessions. Don’t believe it? Try not paying the extortion demanded related to a regulatory fee, tax, etc. and see what happens to what you “own.”
We have sold ourselves into slavery.

I believe it to be for the same reason - as the Egyptians, we worship other gods.

The Egyptians considered Pharaoh to be a god. Therefore, God “gave them over” to Pharaoh.

We do the same thing.

Money was exchanged for food.
Livestock was exchanged for food.
The land was exchanged for food.
Personal freedom was exchanged for food.
They “willingly” turned themselves over to Pharaoh - the state.

We do the same.

Even true believers too readily turn to the plans and power of man rather than to God.

We trust in in man more than we do God.

Allow me to bring out one more thing that was done - did not mention this yesterday.


Gen 47:20-21
20 And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the land became Pharaoh's.
21 And as for the people, he removed them to cities from one end of the borders of Egypt even to the other end thereof.

KJV

When the people sold all their land and themselves note what occurred.

Joseph “removed them to cities”.
A state-mandated relocation of the populace occurred.

Be not surprised if we see such.

Remember the last statement…

Gen 47:27
27 And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.

Even in the midst of this type of social calamity arising from the famine (I believe the beginning of God’s judgment upon Israel...to reach an apex 400+ years later with Moses and the 10 plaques), those of Israel who dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen prospered and were protected.

They had possessions.
They grew.
They multiplied exceedingly.

We are in the world (Egypt), but are not of the world.


1 John 2:15-17
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

May we grow exceedingly in the grace of the Lord.

Trust in the Lord.
Trust not in the world.
Fear the Lord.
Fear not the things of the world.

Famine in Egypt...same with us?

Today’s reading from the “So That’s Why” Bible consist of pp. 75-80...the balance of Genesis.

In many of our times together in recent months we have been emphasizing the need to trust in the Lord in all circumstances.

This can not be stated enough.

We have experienced some trying times as a nation, as a community, as individuals.

But, it has only begun.

Greater challenges lie ahead.

We must determine in who/what we will trust. Then, we must walk in that trust with every breath.

Our “daily Bible reading” for today gives an example of that.

Without getting into the complete account (too long for this forum), famine had come upon the land of Egypt. God provide warning, preparation and provision through Joseph. Read the following and note what happens in the subsequent years…ask the Holy Spirit...right now!!...to give you insight, illumination, enlightenment, revelation, encouragement, exhortation in His Word...


Gen 47:13-23
13 And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very sore, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.
14 And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.
15 And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in thy presence? for the money faileth.
16 And Joseph said, Give your cattle; and I will give you for your cattle, if money fail.
17 And they brought their cattle unto Joseph: and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for horses, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the herds, and for the asses: and he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that year.
18 When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:
19 Wherefore shall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants unto Pharaoh: and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be not desolate.
20 And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the land became Pharaoh's.
21 And as for the people, he removed them to cities from one end of the borders of Egypt even to the other end thereof.
22 Only the land of the priests bought he not; for the priests had a portion assigned them of Pharaoh, and did eat their portion which Pharaoh gave them: wherefore they sold not their lands.
23 Then Joseph said unto the people, Behold, I have bought you this day and your land for Pharaoh: lo, here is seed for you, and ye shall sow the land.
24 And it shall come to pass in the increase, that ye shall give the fifth part unto Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.
25 And they said, Thou hast saved our lives: let us find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's servants.
26 And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt unto this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth part; except the land of the priests only, which became not Pharaoh's.
27 And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.

This is a vivid Word to us as a nation and those of us who are Servants of the Most High God.

Note what happened.

There was no bread in the land. The famine was extreme. Could the people have known? Perhaps...likely. Joseph has spent the 7 years of good harvest in capital preparation for the years of famine. Apparently the people had not made personal preparation.

Now, let say something here...I do not believe that this account is supportive of socialization and salvation through the state.

I believe something else is happening here.

I believe that the Lord is using His vessel, Joseph, to provide and protect the lineage of the Savior. The Word tells us this later in Genesis.

The Lord is also “giving Egypt over” to that which they did. They worshipped Pharaoh as god. They looked to him for all. As Romans 1 says, “God gave them over…” Joseph was “milking the cobra” to the praise and glory of the grace of God and to the ultimate judgment of Egypt...down the road…

So there was no bread.

Therefore the people purchased from Pharaoh - the state - their sustenance until the point where money was gone.

This is the phrase that arrested my attention this morning...vs. 15, “for the money faileth.”

So it is in our land...even world-wide.

The “money” faileth.

This is not surprise.

Our “money” has been a source of lie and deceit for nearly 100 years...ever since the passing and implementation of the Federal Reserve Act in 1913/1914.

Our “money” is fiat - not real, fake. We are a debt-based, debt-driven society.

Our financial system is a house of cards. We are now seeing it collapse.

The money faileth.

But, it did not end there for Egypt, nor will it for us.

When the money failed the people said “take our cattle.” So, Pharaoh - the state - did. The state took the cattle, the horses, the flocks, the asses.

That exchange bought them another year of food.

But, then came the next year.

Then, the people said “we have no money, no means of exchange (cattle, etc.)...take us and our land.”

So it was.

They sold themselves into slavery unto Pharaoh and became his servants. Pharaoh took them. He took their land.

The same has occurred for years in our land.

Now, it is coming to a culmination at an unprecedented upon us. Folk are looking to the state - to Pharaoh - to rescue, to answer, to provide. Pharaoh - the state - has become god by action and deed.
We are bringing the same judgment upon ourselves as the Egyptians did.

Why?

Because, we as a nation do not worship and honor God. We worship Pharaoh - the state.

But, give heed to a word of encouragement.

Read verse 27 again….

Gen 47:27
27 And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.

Even in the midst of these hard times, the people of the Lord prospered. They had possessions therein...provision...they multiplied exceedingly.

May we do like-wise.

Trust in the Lord and might of His power.

May we as Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ multiply exceedingly as the days of darkness wax cold.

May we shine as the stars in the firmament with the righteousness and holiness of the Lord, leading many to salvation.

Today’s reading from the “So That’s Why” Bible is pp. 70-74...don’t have the chapter breakdown in front me...probably Genesis 42-44 or so!

The Lord is revealing much to us as we read through Genesis. Ask Him and He will reveal more.

Here is a sad fact.

Most of the professing body of Christ do not believe all the truths in Genesis. They believed some man-made interpretation. They believe according to the wisdom of man.

Here is another sad fact.

Most who profess to be Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ unto salvation know little about the Day of the Lord.

Locally, we are studying the Day of the Lord for a couple of weeks.

What do Genesis and the Day of the Lord have in common?

We need to be reminded of these truths. Pay close attention.


2 Peter 3:1-13
3 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

Peter wanted to stir up their pure minds...to remind them of that which they knew

2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

these truths were spoken by the prophets...of the Old Testament...and the apostles… the New Testament

3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

First, in the last days scoffers will come. When? Last days. What will they do? Scoff. What is their motivation. Their own lusts, desires. Now, watch the focus of the scoffing...


4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

You can hear the contempt and sarcasm dripping from the words.
They were asking “where is the return of the Lord?”
They do not believe.
They mock.
Note what they were mocking and questioning.
They were drawing into doubt the return of the Lord.
The same is occurring today.
Even “professing believers” do not believe that the Lord will return.
Many do not believe the reality of the answer that Peter gave.
I believe that is why the Spirit led him to join them together...

5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

They are willingly ignorant of creation...they do it on purpose.
They choose not to know. They choose not to believe.

6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

The great universal flood...the flood of Noah. Genesis 6+
The world will mock creation ex nihilo - out of nothing.
The world will mock the Biblical account of the flood.

7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

The world, and many in “the church”, will mock the judgment yet to come - the fire of the Day of the Lord

The Lord tells us what to do...

8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Be not ignorant.
Unlearned.
Quit being ignorant on purpose.

9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Repent.
Proclaim the gospel of repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

The Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night...not for believers, but for unbelievers…the balance of the Word makes this clear.
We are not in darkness, we are in light.

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

Holiness
Godliness

12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Looking for and hasting the coming of the day of God.

13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

The world will mock…
creation
the flood
the day of the Lord

We as true believers must…
adhere to the truth of the Word
walk not in ignorance
learn the truth
be holy
be godly
look for the Day of the Lord
hasten the coming of the Day of the Lord...how?...by obedience and holy living

Learn about the Day of the Lord!

We have been promised to be spared the Day of the Lord - the wrath of God upon unbelieving man. The Lord will literally take the True Church unto Himself on the first day of the Day of the Lord.

We have been promise to experience the Great Tribulation - the wrath of the satan indwelled Man of Lawlessness. God will enable us to endure.

Be not ignorant of the Word.
Quit getting your “knowledge” from “Left Behind.” LOL

One Might...

Today’s reading in the “So That’s Why?” Bible is pp. 65-69. Genesis 39-41.

Don’t worry ‘bout “being behind”...begin and catch up...or jump in. The point is that we all must be in the Word of God - day in and out. We must have His truth imparted unto us.

We will need every letter of His Word in the days coming.

Pray today for those that are going through times of transition.

A quick, non-scientific count in my head reveals that 25% of our corporate gathering on Sunday mornings are without jobs...laid-off, etc.

We trust in the Lord.
We know what His Word says…


Ps 37:25
25 I have been young and now I am old, Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken Or his descendants begging bread.

The Lord will not forsake those who are righteous. He will provide. That does not mean that we sit back and do nothing...even the ant teaches a lesson to the sluggard…

Prov 6:6-11
6 Go to the ant, O sluggard, Observe her ways and be wise,
7 Which, having no chief, Officer or ruler,
8 Prepares her food in the summer And gathers her provision in the harvest.
9 How long will you lie down, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep?
10 "A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest" —
11 Your poverty will come in like a vagabond And your need like an armed man.

Most of the believers that I know are not sluggards.
They are faithful in the Lord...yet, they are under-employed, un-employed, etc. etc.

What to do?

Pray. Trust the Lord. Seek His Kingdom, knowing that He is faithful and will add what we need.
Seize the moment. Perhaps more time is available for prayer, meditation upon the Word, intimate time with the Lord, helping others through the Spirit, etc.
Don’t sit around and moan...LOL...be faithful unto the Lord and His Kingdom.

Lastly, we as the Body of Christ are to help one another...particularly the poor among us, those going through times of distress.

Do as the Lord speaks unto you.
Support one another.
Hire one another.
Pray for one another.
Intercede for one another.

One might provide a word of encouragement.
One might provide a meal.
One might provide money.
One might provide a tank of gas.
One might provide childcare.

What would the Lord have you to do?

"Only government..."

Blessings Saints!!

I heard words yesterday that should strike terror into the heart of every unbeliever - but it will not.

Words that might even give true Believers pause - if they trust not in the Lord.

The words gave voice to that which we already knew to be the truth. By deeds in recent years we knew, but now, it has been declared forthrightly. It has been proclaimed as “the hope.”

I can barely hear/read these words without physical reaction.

They are so wrong.

They are so incorrect.

They will prove to be the foundation for our destruction.

I will address only one issue in this forum. For more, listen to my podcast today. Listen to this one, even if you never have before. Let me know if you can’t make the podcast work. I’ll try to help.

Yesterday, President-Elect Obama gave a speech at George Mason University (home of the now retired and highly esteemed Walter Williams, former chair economic department - he knows the truth).

In the midst of the speech the following was stated:

“It is true that we cannot depend on government alone to create jobs or long-term growth. But at this particular moment, only government can provide the short-term boost necessary to lift us from a recession this deep and severe. Only government can break the cycle that is crippling our economy, where a lack of spending leads to lost jobs, which leads to even less spending, where an inability to lend and borrow stops growth and leads to even less credit.’

Forget “in God we trust.”

What we have known for decades is loudly proclaimed - “in government we trust.”

Folk, do not be deceived by this. (Again, listen to today’s Podcast).

One can not spend one’s self to prosperity.

We are a “debt based” society. The Scripture tells us about such:


Prov 22:7
7 The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

Deut 28:12
12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.

None of what was said yesterday bodes well for our nation.

Yet, we fear not!

Yes, we speak strongly against the deception.
Yes, we spread truth.

Lastly, we manifest the peace and joy of the Presence of the Lord in trusting Him in all things.

As evil increases, we trust in the Lord.
As lying men and deceitful leaders arise, we trust in the Lord.
As man turns more and more to his own way, to his own solutions, to his own agenda, we trust in the Lord.

Do not be distracted.
Do not be deceived.

Trust in the Lord!!

In the Flood - Count It Joy!

Well...that was fun! Took the computer 48 hours straight to upload the revamped website...but, it is done. Did some rearranging for easier access...cleaner look…quicker response of workflow on my end...etc. etc. Check it out! Have a new podcast up.

Then, as mentioned in our last time together, it was raining Tuesday. Moments after I sent out this communique I received a call. The basement at the house was flooded. Ugh. So Tuesday, yesterday, today, etc. have been spent cleaning, ripping out carpet, bag after bag of garbage. Ugh. Happy

But, remember what the Lord said!

Count if all joy!!

I’m particularly remembering the word “all”. LOL

What joy can be found in such?

Who knows?

But I do know…
the basement is getting really, really cleaned and organized
getting some exercise Happy

Therefore, though we don’t understand...and certainly we are not alone (houses are flooded throughout our area) we will count it all joy!

James 1:2
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

But, note something here.

We proclaim “count it all joy” often. But we must look at the balance of the verse/passage within context. Read the following closely.

James 1:1-4
1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

James was writing to those that had been “scattered abroad.” They had encountered hard times because of their faith.

James tells them to count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations. Hum. Temptations? The New American Standard translates it as “consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials.”

We understand trials.
We understand temptations.
But, how is a trial a temptation?

I suspect it has to do with how we are tempted to respond when we face the varied and diverse things of life…the trials and temptations.

You know the ole saying ‘bout what comes out when you are squeezed…

The trying (testing NASB) of our faith worketh patience...produces endurance.

It is opportunity to grow in trust and faith in the Lord.

The Lord has much to say to us about enduring during such time...hear the Word spoken to Timothy…


2 Tim 2:3
3 Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

10 For this reason I endure all things for the sake of those who are chosen, so that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires,
4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.
5 But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

Therefore, let us endure to the end, speaking forth the Truth.
Let us press on through the things that pop up...or flood up…to distract us, all the while considering it a joy, knowing that God is in control.

Today’s Bible reading consist of pages 15-21 in the “So That’s Why” Bible...Genesis 9-11.

To this point in our reading we have covered the following:

Genesis 1-2: Creation

We have learned that God created, and it was good...very good.

There is “big debate” over the meaning of these chapters.

Here is what I believe the truth is.

God created exactly as He tells us in His Word...six 24-hour days.

I know many sincere believers disagree. They would be wrong...LOL HappyHappy

I know the “scientific” arguments...heard them in college (was a chemistry major).
I know the “theological” arguments...heard them in seminary.
I know the “pop explanations”.

The Word confirms that the Lord spoke into existence ex nihilo - out of nothing. Other portions of the Word have much to say about creation. Job has tremendous insight, as does Peter, the Psalms, etc.

So, God created. The earth is not “billions and billions of years” old. If one does not accurately believe and interpret the first chapters of Genesis, then interpretation of the remainder of the Word will be in error.

God warned us that in the last days the world would mock those of faith due to their belief in the Genesis.


2 Peter 3:1-10

This amazing passage confirms what we have seen in Genesis.

God created.
There was a flood!

Again, many within the Body of Christ do not believe in an all-world encompassing flood.

They would be wrong. LOL HappyHappy
Note that Peter says that they are “willingly ignorant.”

Genesis 6-9 tells us that a flood was released from God to judge man. 2 Peter confirms this.

God judge with a flood.
The next time He will judge the world with fire.

Many say, “well ‘scientists’ say”...be careful as to the scientist unto whom you give heed. There are many scientists that are of the faith and understand the truth.

Listen to them.

All of this relates to Genesis 3 and the fruit thereof, Genesis 4.

Man disobeyed God.
Man decided to ignore the one rule - don’t eat of the tree of the Knowledge of good and evil.
Therefore, sin was manifest in the world.
Sin had a physiological impact upon the world. Death, thorns, etc.

Murder came forth - Cain and Abel.

Lastly, don’t ignore the “begats” in the Word. Genesis 5 and 10 provide foundational insight for things yet to come.

So, the question to us today is this.

Do you believe the Word of God?
Do you give more credence to the opinions of man than to God?

In matters of “creation” there can be no true “scientific” opinion. Science is defined by the ability to observe situations and/or create/recreate experiments to validate theories.

This can not occur with “origins.”

This simple question to ask is “were you there?”

Of course, no man was.

Therefore, do you believe God or man?

As for me and my house, we will choose the Lord.

He is our source of life!!

Hear the word of a man that had a difficult time…

Lam 3:1-19
1 I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
2 He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.
3 Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day.
4 My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.
5 He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.
6 He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.
7 He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.
8 Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.
9 He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
10 He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.
11 He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.12 He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
13 He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.

We all have experienced portions of this lament.

Times of:
affliction
darkness
feeling as if the Lord has turned from us
aging
brokenness
heavy chains
bondage
thinking our prayers have been shut out
derision
bitterness
“broken my teeth with gravel stones”
our soul removed far from peace
prosperity forgotten
strength and hope perished

Yet, read on!!!

Lam 3:20-41
20 My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
22 It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

24 The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
25 The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.27 It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
28 He sitteth alone and keepeth silence, because he hath borne it upon him.
29 He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.
30 He giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him: he is filled full with reproach.
31 For the Lord will not cast off for ever:

40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.
41 Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.

The writer still remembers these things in his soul. Yet look what happens.

He is humbled.

Why?

Because He decided to call something to mind.

There is hope outside of circumstance.
There is hope outside of feeling.
There is hope outside of what we see in the natural.

First, it is only by the mercy of the Lord that we are not consumed at this moment. It is only by God’s compassion, grace and mercy that He did not/does not eradicate us. The Word is clear that we were all sinners. The Word is also clear that those who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.


1 Cor 6:9-11
9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

Second, the compassions of the Lord fail not. We never err in trusting in the compassion of the Lord. I am not speaking of presuming upon the Lord. That is sin. We can know that, though we may not understand, the compassion of the Lord will never fail toward those who trust in Him.

Third, the mercies of the Lord are new every morning. The Lord never “runs out” of mercy. That doesn’t mean that He turns away His eye from sin. No. But, if we call upon the Lord we will find His mercy to be inexhaustible.

Fourth, the Lord is faithful. His faithfulness is actually describe as great. Is there anything about the Lord that is less than “great”? LOL

Therefore, what is our response.

We see from the Lamenter.

Acknowledge that…
the Lord is my portion...declare it verbally today...now...without ceasing
I will hope in the Lord!
the Lord is good unto them that wait...therefore, I will aggressively wait upon the Lord
I will seek the Lord
it is good to hope and wait quietly (without complaint, bitterness, resentment, etc. ) upon the Lord

Finally…
Let us search and try our ways!!
Let us turn again to the Lord!
Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens!!

Search!
Turn!
Worship!

The Lord will pour forth the joy of the Spirit over the spirit of heaviness!!


Isa 61:3
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord , that he might be glorified.

Rejoice in the Lord and the new mercies He gives every morning.

Blessings Folk!!

It is a new year...at least according to our calendar...there have many, many forms of calendars through the years…

Those of y’all who will be reading through the Bible with us this year...todays we read pages 4-9 of the “So That’s Why” Bible. Genesis 1-4. I’ll be commenting from time to time on our reading...usually a day or two after the reading...don’t want to “spoil the joy of discovery…”!!
