“Free!”

Blessings folk!

If you are a true believer…
If you have repented…
If you have confessed…
If you have called upon the name of the Lord for salvation…

Then you are free!!

Hear the Word of Jesus quoting Isaiah about himself…

Luk 4:18
“THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME,
BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR.
HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES,
AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND,
TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED,

Released!
No longer captive to sin!
No longer oppressed!
Free!

John 8:31-32
So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him,
“If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;

and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

Continue in the Word of the Lord.
Know Truth.
Know Freedom.

The world will lie.
Is the world the source of your information?
Such should not be.

Seek the Lord.
Seek His knowledge, insight, revelation, enlightenment, wisdom…

Eph 1:18-19a
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened,
so that you will know what is the hope of His calling,
what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.

Then, set others free!

Therefore, as Spirit-filled vessels, walk in liberty…

Psa 119:45
And I will walk at liberty,
For I seek Your precepts.

Seek the precepts of the Lord.

Live as those that will be judged by the liberty we have…

“The Truth. The truth."

November 28, 2020

“The Truth. The truth."

Blessings folk!

So, we have looked in Daniel 9, Nehemiah 9 and Ezra 9 at the prayers made on behalf of a people and nation.

Keep praying.

We are continuing to head into even more exciting/interesting times.

The world wants to know the truth.
The world needs to know the Truth.

We have the Truth.
The Lord will reveal to us the truth if we seek Him.

Be the vessel of Truth.
Speak the Truth.
As the Lord reveals truths related to issues of the day, speak them forth in love.

The Truth will set us free…

Jhn 8:31-32

So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him,
“If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;

“The Exiles Did So"

November 27, 2020

“The Exiles Did So"

Blessings folk!

The people had responded to the prayer of Ezra and the exhortation of Shecaniah.

They agreed to repent, but, they were worried about the logistics of it.

Read…

Ezr 10:10-17
Then Ezra the priest stood up and said to them,
“You have been unfaithful and have married foreign wives adding to the guilt of Israel.

“Now therefore, make confession to the LORD God of your fathers and do His will;
and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land and from the foreign wives.”

Then all the assembly replied with a loud voice,
“That’s right! As you have said, so it is our duty to do.

“But there are many people; it is the rainy season and we are not able to stand in the open. Nor can the task be done in one or two days, for we have transgressed greatly in this matter.

“Let our leaders represent the whole assembly and let all those in our cities who have married foreign wives come at appointed times, together with the elders and judges of each city, until the fierce anger of our God on account of this matter is turned away from us.”

Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahzeiah the son of Tikvah opposed this, with Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite supporting them.

But the exiles did so. And Ezra the priest selected men who were heads of fathers’ households for each of their father’s households, all of them by name.
So they convened on the first day of the tenth month to investigate the matter.

They finished investigating all the men who had married foreign wives
by the first day of the first month.

The people asked that their leaders represent them in this grave matter.
They had sinned so grievously that is would take some time to repent.
They wanted the fierce anger of the Lord to be turned away from them.

The prayer of Ezra before the Lord had brought repentance of the people.

Leaders!
Do you hear?

Leaders!
Are you turning to the Lord or to the latest “church growth” scheme of man?

Let us do as Daniel, Nehemiah and Ezra did.
They turned to the Lord.
They trusted the Lord.
They rested in the Lord.
Then, they did as the Lord led.

“Rejoice. Pray. Give Thanks”

November 26, 2020

“Rejoice. Pray. Give Thanks”

Blessings folk!

Blessed Thanksgiving!

Even the world acknowledges the “giving of thanks”…though they are shaky upon who the “recipient” is.

The Word says much about giving thanks.

For today, think/reflect/meditate/consider the following…

1Th 5:16-18
Rejoice always;
pray without ceasing;
in everything give thanks;
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

This is a powerful sentence.

Know this.

God has a “will” for you.
His “will” is in Christ Jesus.
We can only fulfill the will of the Lord in/through Jesus Christ.

His will is that we…

  • Rejoice…always
  • Pray…without ceasing
  • Give thanks…in everything…not “for” everything. In everything. In the midst of it all…

Give thanks.
Pray.
Rejoice.
Manifest the will of God in Christ Jesus!

“Do His Will…”

November 25, 2020

“Do His Will…”

Blessings folk!

Ezra had completed his prayer.
Some of the people had joined with him.

Ezra was now doing what he had been exhorted to do.
Boldly lead the people.
The people followed.

Read…

Ezr 10:9-12

So all the men of Judah and Benjamin assembled at Jerusalem within the three days.
It was the ninth month on the twentieth of the month, and all the people sat in the open square before the house of God, trembling because of this matter and the heavy rain.

Then Ezra the priest stood up and said to them,
“You have been unfaithful and have married foreign wives adding to the guilt of Israel.

“Now therefore, make confession to the LORD God of your fathers and do His will;
and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land and from the foreign wives.”

Then all the assembly replied with a loud voice,
“That’s right! As you have said, so it is our duty to do.

The people assembled as instructed by their leadership.
They were trembling.
Trembling because of the matter at hand.
Trembling because of the heavy rain.
Weather conditions mattered not.
Sin must be addressed.

Ezra stood before them and declared the problem.
They had been unfaithful to God.
They had married foreign women.
They had added to the guilt of Israel.

Ezra then told them what to do. Make confession before the Lord.
Do His will.
Separate themselves from the people of the lands and the foreign wives.

How did the people respond?
That’s right!
We will do it!

That is exciting to hear.
We will see that they meant it…though the next word they said is “but”…as we shall see tomorrow.

For today, repent from evil.
Do good.
Do the will of the Lord.

“Three Days…”

November 23, 2020

“Three Days…”

Blessings folk!

Ezra made - still amazed by that word - the leading priests, Levites and all Israel take an oath.

Read what he does next…

Ezr 10:5-8

Then Ezra rose and made the leading priests, the Levites and all Israel, take oath that they would do according to this proposal; so they took the oath.

Then Ezra rose from before the house of God and went into the chamber of Jehohanan the son of Eliashib. Although he went there, he did not eat bread nor drink water,
for he was mourning over the unfaithfulness of the exiles.

They made a proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem to all the exiles,
that they should assemble at Jerusalem,

and that whoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the leaders and the elders, all his possessions should be forfeited and he himself excluded from the assembly of the exiles.

Ezra went to see Jehohanah - the high priest.
Ezra was still fasting and mourning.

They proclaimed together to all the exiles that all should assemble in Jerusalem.

They were serious.

The people were given three days to come.

The leadership had determined that if someone did not come, they would forfeit their possessions and be “excluded”/cast out from the assembly of the exiles.

This was very serious.
They were dealing with the sin.
They were correcting the evil.
They were “putting feet” to their vocal repentance.

Do we?

November 22, 2020

“Ezra Arose and Made…”

Blessings folk!

A brief observation for the day.

Ezra had been praying.
Emotionally.
Humbly.

Some of the people responded by joining with him

At the end of the time of praying, Sheceniah arose and brought a Word of exhortation to Ezra.

Watch what Ezra does…

Ezr 10:4-5
“Arise!
For this matter is your responsibility, but we will be with you;
be courageous and act.”

Then Ezra rose and made the leading priests, the Levites and all Israel,
take oath that they would do according to this proposal; so they took the oath.

Ezra arose.
Ezra acted courageously.
How?

He “made”…

  • The leading priests
  • The Levites
  • All Israel
…take an oath that they would do what Sheceniah said…turn from the wives and children.

They took the oath.

Imagine the “dynamics” of that.
“Making” them do it.

Be courageous!
Be bold!
Be brave in the Lord!

“There Is Hope!”

November 21, 2020

“There Is Hope!”

Blessings folk!

What were the people to do?

The Word of the Lord came…

Ezr 10:2-4
Shecaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, said to Ezra,
“We have been unfaithful to our God and have married foreign women from the peoples of the land; yet now there is hope for Israel in spite of this.

“So now let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives and their children, according to the counsel of my lord and of those who tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.

“Arise!
For this matter is your responsibility, but we will be with you;
be courageous and act.”

The Word came through Shecaniah and was directed to Ezra

Yes.
The people had been unfaithful to God.
“Yet, now there is hope for Israel in spite of this”.

Know this.
There is hope!
Regardless of the sin.
There is hope in the Lord!

The Lord through Shecaniah gives direction - make a covenant with god to put away the wives/children…according to the Law.

The Lord through Shecaniah then gives a strong exhortation to Ezra.
Arise!
This matter is your responsibility.
Be courageous!
Act!

The people would be with him.
They would respond and follow.

The Word for us?
Leaders arise.
Be courageous.
Act.

Leaders/people live in holiness before the Lord.

“No One Can Stand Before You”

November 20, 2020

“No One Can Stand Before You”

Blessings folk!

Ezra finishes his prayer….

Ezr 9:15
“O LORD God of Israel,
You are righteous,
for we have been left an escaped remnant,
as it is this day;
behold, we are before You in our guilt,
for no one can stand before You because of this.”

Ezra declares the Lord is righteous.
The Lord had granted them “an escaped remnant”.
Still, they were guilty before they Lord.
They had sinned.
No one could stand before the Lord because of this sin.

What were they to do?

The next verse shows us how the people reacted…

Ezr 10:1
Now while Ezra was praying and making confession, weeping and prostrating himself before the house of God, a very large assembly, men, women and children, gathered to him from Israel;
for the people wept bitterly.

One man praying, making confession, weeping and prostrating himself before the house of God moved the people.

They gathered in a very large assembly.
They came from all over the land.
They wept bitterly.

They all knew they had sinned.
They were repenting, weeping bitterly.

But, what to do now?
Was there something to be done?

The Lord will always show us what to do…as we will see later…

“Shall We Break Your Commandments?”

November 19, 2020

“Shall We Break Your Commandments?”

Blessings folk!

Ezra comes to the point in his prayer.

He tells what the Lord had commanded them to do.
He states that they had not been obedient…even to that day.

Ezr 9:10-14

“Now, our God, what shall we say after this? For we have forsaken Your commandments,

which You have commanded by Your servants the prophets, saying, ‘The land which you are entering to possess is an unclean land with the uncleanness of the peoples of the lands, with their abominations which have filled it from end to end and with their impurity.

‘So now do not give your daughters to their sons nor take their daughters to your sons, and never seek their peace or their prosperity, that you may be strong and eat the good things of the land and leave it as an inheritance to your sons forever.’

“After all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and our great guilt, since You our God have requited us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us an escaped remnant as this,

shall we again break Your commandments and intermarry with the peoples who commit these abominations? Would You not be angry with us to the point of destruction,
until there is no remnant nor any who escape?

They had forsaken the Lord’s commandments.
They had taken sons/daughters from the peoples of the land.
They had walked in impurity and iniquity.

The Lord had been gracious to them.
He had not given them what they deserved.
He had given them a remnant upon the land.

So, Ezra asks, “Shall we again break Your commandments and intermarry…”

Ezra knows that if they do so, then the Lord will be angry…perhaps to the point of destroying them.

So, what is the principle for us?
The same.
Adhere to the Word of the Lord.
Do not live in sin.

“A Peg In His Holy Place…”

November 18, 2020

“A Peg In His Holy Place…”

Blessings folk!

Ezra and the people were acknowledging their sin before the Lord.
They and their forefathers had done evil.
But…finally!!

There is the hope that is in the Lord.
They realize it…

Ezr 9:8-9

“But now for a brief moment grace has been shown from the LORD our God, to leave us an escaped remnant and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and grant us a little reviving in our bondage.

“For we are slaves; yet in our bondage our God has not forsaken us, but has extended lovingkindness to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us reviving to raise up the house of our God, to restore its ruins and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem.

The Lord had given them grace.
The Lord had extended lovingkindness.
How was it manifested?
A remnant had been sent by the kings of Persia…
- to revive the people
- to raise up the house of the Lord
- to restore the ruins of Judah and Jerusalem
- to build a wall around Jerusalem

Notice they were still slaves.
They were still under the kings of Persia.

Still, the Lord had not forsaken them.
The Lord was giving them a “peg in His Holy place”…I love that phrase.
They were as a peg on a wall to hold a garment.
They were small.
They were hanging on.
They were the Lord’s.

The Lord would enlighten their eyes - if they allowed.
The Lord would give them a little reviving even in bondage - if they allowed.

But they could not continue in flagrant sin before the Lord.
Thus their cry to the Lord.

“Plunder and Open Shame”

November 17, 2020

“Plunder and Open Shame”

Blessings folk!

Ezra was praying.
In a physical position of humility.

Hear what he said to them Lord…

Ezr 9:6-7

and I said,
“O my God, I am ashamed and embarrassed to lift up my face to You, my God,
for our iniquities have risen above our heads and our guilt has grown even to the heavens.

“Since the days of our fathers to this day we have been in great guilt, and on account of our iniquities we, our kings and our priests have been given into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity and to plunder and to open shame, as it is this day.

Ezra acknowledges that since the days of their fathers they had been in great guilt

They had sinned greatly.
They had not listened to the Word of the Lord.
There iniquities were many.

Due to their sin they had been given over to kings of other lands.
They had been given over to the sword.
They had been taken captive.
They had been plundered.
They became open shame…to that day.

Now, they were back on the land.

Had their hearts changed?
They were continuing in sin…remember the first part of this chapter.
What were they to do?

“Ashamed and Embarrassed”

November 16, 2020

“Ashamed and Embarrassed”

Blessings folk!

Ezra sat appalled before the Lord.
So did those of the people who trembled at the Word of the Lord.

At the end of the day Ezra did the following…

Ezra 9:5
But at the evening offering I arose from my humiliation,
even with my garment and my robe torn,
and I fell on my knees and stretched out my hands to the LORD my God;

Ezra:

  • Arose from his humiliation…fasting
  • Still had on his garment and robe that were torn
  • Fell on his knees
  • Stretched out his hand to the Lord

Ezra was in a physical position of humility before the Lord.

He then began to pray…

Ezra 9:6
and I said,
“O my God, I am ashamed and embarrassed to lift up my face to You, my God,
for our iniquities have risen above our heads and our guilt has grown even to the heavens.

Ezra acknowledged that h was ashamed and embarrassed to lift his face to the Lord.
That hints to us that he likely was facing the ground.

Why the shame/embarrassment?

Because of their iniquities.
Because of their guilt.
Their iniquities/guilt had reached to the heavens.

The Lord knew.
The Lord knows.

Let us repent of our iniquities and guilt.

“Sat Appalled”

November 15, 2020

“Sat Appalled”

Blessings folk!

Ezra was devastated by the news he had received.

The people of Israel had not keep themselves pure before the people of the land.
They had intermingled by marriage.
Something God had told them not to do.

Worse yet, the leaders of Israel were the chief among the sinners!

We saw what Ezra had done.

Now, watch the response of the people…

Ezr 9:3-4

When I heard about this matter,
I tore my garment and my robe,
and pulled some of the hair from my head and my beard,
and sat down appalled.

Then everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel on account of the unfaithfulness of the exiles gathered to me, and I sat appalled until the evening offering.

Ezra…

  • Tore his garment
  • Tore his robe
  • Pulled some hair from his head and beard
  • Sat appalled

Ezra was appalled at the sin of the people…especially their leadership.

What was the response of the people?

First note.
Apparently it was not all the people.

It was “everyone who trembled at the words of the God of Israel…”.
Not everyone would have trembled…cared.
They trembled on account of the unfaithfulness of the exiles.

They gathered together with Ezra and sat appalled.

Why do we not “sit appalled” at the sin of the people…especially religious leadership?

Unfaithfulness

November 14, 2020

Unfaithfulness”

Blessings folk!

We have been giving special focus on praying for “the nation” leading up to an election.

We now continue praying as we await the results…no, the results have not been certified.
Media declaration is not the constitutional process.

We have looked at the prayer of Daniel in Daniel 9.
We have looked at the prayer of the people and their leadership in Nehemiah 9.

Now, let us look at Ezra 9.

The people of Israel had a problem.

Watch for it…

Ezr 9:1-3

After these things had been done, the leaders approached me and said:
“The people of Israel, the priests, and the Levites have not separated themselves from the surrounding peoples whose detestable practices are like those of the Canaanites, Hethites, Perizzites, Jebusites, Ammonites, Moabites, Egyptians, and Amorites.

“Indeed, the Israelite men have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and their sons, so that the holy seed has become mixed with the surrounding peoples.
The leaders and officials have taken the lead in this unfaithfulness!

When I heard this report, I tore my tunic and robe,
pulled out some of the hair from my head and beard, and sat down devastated.

What was the problem?
The people were unfaithful to the Lord.

How did this unfaithfulness manifest?
They did not adhere to the Word of the Lord which had been told them.
They were not to intermingle (as some translations express) themselves with the people of the surrounding land.
They were to keep the “holy seed” holy before the Lord.

They had not done so.

They did not separate themselves from the detestable practices of the surround people.
They participated in the practices.
They took daughters of the pagan peoples as wives.

Worse yet, the leaders and officials were taking the lead in these unfaithful practices.

How serious is this?

Look at Ezra’s response.

He tore his tunic and robe…a very expensive expression of anger/grief.
One did not just find clothes hanging on a rack back then.
He pulled out some hair from his head and beard…ouch…a painful expression of anger/grief.
He sat down devastated.

What to do now?

As we will see, he fell before the Lord.

So should we.
’Tis better to fall before the Lord rather than fall to enemies.

“Now, the People…”

November 13, 2020

“Now, the People…”

Blessings folk!

The people completed their prayer.
They were in great distress.
But, they did not “just pray”.

They knew what to do.
They did it.

First they “put it in writing”…

Neh 9:38
“Now because of all this
We are making an agreement in writing;
And on the sealed document are the names of our leaders, our Levites and our priests.”

Then, chapter 10 gives all the details of how they would fulfill the Law.

Neh 10:28-30
Now the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the temple servants and all those who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the law of God, their wives, their sons and their daughters,
all those who had knowledge and understanding,

are joining with their kinsmen, their nobles, and are taking on themselves a curse and an oath to walk in God’s law, which was given through Moses, God’s servant, and to keep and to observe all the commandments of GOD our Lord, and His ordinances and His statutes;

and that we will not give our daughters to the peoples of the land
or take their daughters for our sons.

They repented.
They returned to the Lord and His Word.

The last verse gives a summation…

Neh 10:39
For the sons of Israel and the sons of Levi shall bring the contribution of the grain, the new wine and the oil to the chambers; there are the utensils of the sanctuary, the priests who are ministering, the gatekeepers and the singers. Thus we will not neglect the house of our God.

May we repent and be faithful to that which the Lord has called us!

Slaves"

Slaves"

Blessings folk!

The people were coming to the close of their prayer.

They now told the Lord their status.
They were slaves.

Neh 9:36-37
“Behold, we are slaves today,
And as to the land which You gave to our fathers to eat of its fruit and its bounty,
Behold, we are slaves in it.

“Its abundant produce is for the kings
Whom You have set over us because of our sins;
They also rule over our bodies
And over our cattle as they please,
So we are in great distress.

The were slaves in the land that the Lord had given them.

The kings consumed the bounty of the land.
The kings set over them because of their sin.
The kings ruled over their bodies, their cattle.
They were in great distress.

We are in the same situation today.
Be not fooled.
We are slaves.
We must call upon the Lord to set us free.

None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.

The Word: Episode 1470 Matthew 24:32-35

“Just…”

November 11, 2020

“Just…”

Blessings folk!

As the people pray they cut to the bottom line.

Neh 9:33-35
“However, You are just in all that has come upon us;
For You have dealt faithfully, but we have acted wickedly.

“For our kings, our leaders, our priests and our fathers have not kept Your law
Or paid attention to Your commandments and Your admonitions with which You have admonished them.

“But they, in their own kingdom,
With Your great goodness which You gave them,
With the broad and rich land which You set before them,
Did not serve You or turn from their evil deeds.

The Lord was just.
The Lord acted faithfully.

They acted wickedly.
They did not keep the Law.
They paid no heed to the Word of the Lord.

The Lord gave them a great kingdom, goodness, rich land.

They did not serve Him.
They turned from Him to do evil deeds.

Sounds familiar, no?

Still, repent.
He will forgive.

The Word: Episode 1469 Matthew 24:26-31

“God, Do Not Let…”

November 10, 2020

“God, Do Not Let…”

Blessings folk!

The people continue to pray…

Neh 9:32

“Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God,
who keeps covenant and lovingkindness,
Do not let all the hardship seem insignificant before You,
Which has come upon us, our kings, our princes,
our priests, our prophets, our fathers and on all Your people,
From the days of the kings of Assyria to this day.

They start to bring the prayer to conclusion.

They declare again that God is…

  • Great
  • Mighty
  • Awesome
  • Covenant-keeping
  • Lovingkindness

They ask again that the Lord would not view their hardship as being insignificant.

The Kings of Assyria were causing trouble.

They wanted the Lord to rescue…event though they had often been faithless.

They now come humbly before Him.

Sounds like a good pattern for us…

The Word: Episode 1468 Matthew 24:23-25

Nevertheless…

November 9, 2020

“Nevertheless…”

Blessings folk!

We have been looking in the Word at how the people of the Lord prayed to Him…as a people.

We were praying leading up to an election.

We now pray after an election.

We have seen how the people acknowledged how they and their forefathers behaved…sinned.

Now…

Neh 9:31
“Nevertheless, in Your great compassion You did not make an end of them or forsake them,
For You are a gracious and compassionate God.

God did not make an end of them.
He could have.
He had every “right” to do so.

Yet, He did not.

Why?

Because of His great compassion.
Because of His graciousness.

Not only did He not make an end of them, He also did not forsake them.

Even when they were undergoing His punishment, He did not forsake them.
Even as they sinned and turned against Him, He did not forsake them.
Even as they went their own way.
He did not forsake them.

The Lord has not forsaken us.

Have we forsaken Him?

The Word: Episode 1467 Matthew 24:21-22

“You Bore Them…”

November 8, 2020

“You Bore Them…”

Blessings folk!

The Lord did not give up on His people.

Do not forget this.

Remember, the people were praying to the Lord.
They were recounting all this before Him.

Again, we would do well to learn how to pray in this way.
As His people.
As a nation.

Now, read the next verse…

Neh 9:30
“However, You bore with them for many years,
And admonished them by Your Spirit through Your prophets,
Yet they would not give ear.
Therefore You gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.

The Lord “bore with them”…put up with them…for many years.
The Lord admonished them by the Spirit through His prophets.

Did they listen?

No.

They did not give ear.
They went their own way.
Therefore, the Lord gave them into the hands of other peoples in other lands.

…until things were so bad that they called out to the Lord.

The Lord is patient.
The Lord is long suffering.
The Lord desires for His people to walk after Him.

Do so.

The Word: Episode 1466 Matthew 24:15-20

“As Soon As They Had Rest…Evil”

November 7, 2020

“As Soon As They Had Rest…Evil”

Blessings folk!

The people knew how they and their forefathers had behaved.

They confessed it before the Lord…

Neh 9:28-29

“But as soon as they had rest, they did evil again before You;
Therefore You abandoned them to the hand of their enemies, so that they ruled over them.
When they cried again to You, You heard from heaven,
And many times You rescued them according to Your compassion,

And admonished them in order to turn them back to Your law.
Yet they acted arrogantly and did not listen to Your commandments
but sinned against Your ordinances,
By which if a man observes them he shall live.
And they turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck, and would not listen.

As soon as the Lord delivered them and they were at rest…they did evil.

God would then “hand them over” to their enemies.

The people would cry out to God again.

Due to His compassion He would again deliver them.

Over and over…the book of Judges shows this.

The Lord would admonish.
The people would act arrogantly.

The Lord told them to listen.
They refused to listen to Him.

They became more stubborn.
They became more stiff-necked.

Beware!
Be forewarned!

Do not be like them.

“Delivered To/From…”

November 6, 2020

“Delivered To/From…”

Blessings folk!

The people were acknowledging to the Lord what they had done…and what He did…

Neh 9:27
“Therefore You delivered them into the hand of their oppressors who oppressed them,
But when they cried to You in the time of their distress,
You heard from heaven, and according to Your great compassion
You gave them deliverers who delivered them from the hand of their oppressors.

The Lord delivered them into the hand of their oppressors due to their disobedience.

The people then cried out to the Lord in their distress.

The Lord heard.

The Lord sent them deliverers who delivered them from the oppressors.

The Lord did this according to His great compassion.

Not according to their works.

His compassion.

He does so today.

He delivers to oppressors.

He delivers from oppressors.

The Word: Episode 1464 Matthew 24:4-14

“But, They…”

November 5, 2020

“But, They…”

Blessings folk!

The people had recounted much that the Lord had done for them.

How had their forefathers responded to the wonderful things of the Lord?

Neh 9:26

“But they became disobedient and rebelled against You,
And cast Your law behind their backs
And killed Your prophets who had admonished them
So that they might return to You,
And they committed great blasphemies.

Think on this.
Look at what they did.
Look at what we do!

Disobedient.
Rebelled.
Cast God’s law behind their back.
Killed God’s prophets.
- the prophets that admonished them to return to the Lord

Zec 1:3
“Therefore say to them,
‘Thus says the LORD of hosts, “Return to Me,” declares the LORD of hosts,
“that I may return to you,” says the LORD of hosts.

They refused.
They committed great blasphemies.

Be forewarned.
Do not do so…

“Possess…”

November 4, 2020

“Possess…”

Blessings folk!

The people were praying unto God…especially for their “nation”.
We need to do likewise.

They had been recounting the goodness of the Lord.

Neh 9:25
“They captured fortified cities and a fertile land.
They took possession of houses full of every good thing,
Hewn cisterns, vineyards, olive groves,
Fruit trees in abundance.
So they ate, were filled and grew fat,
And reveled in Your great goodness.

Look at all the Lord did for them…
They captured fortified cities.
They captured fertile land.
They took possession of houses…full of every good thing…
- Hewn cisterns
- Vineyards
- Olive groves
- Fruit trees

None of which they “earned”.
God granted.
They possessed.

What was their response?

They ate…good.
They were filled…good.
They grew fat…uh…uh oh…
They reveled in God's great goodness…

God wants us to live in His goodness.

The next verse begins with “but”…as we will see.

“Fear Not…”

November 3, 2020

“Fear Not…”

Blessings folk!

It is election day in the united States of America.

Seek the Lord.
Do as He leads.
He will make it very evident what he desires of you.

Pray as we have seen modeled for us in Daniel 9 and Nehemiah 9.

Do not stop praying.

Challenging times are ahead.

Disruption, terror, trouble, etc. have already been planned.
Much will be implemented today.
Lies upon lie.
But know this…
Truth defeats evil.
Light eradicates darkness.

Deu 3:22
‘Do not fear them, for the LORD your God is the one fighting for you.'

Isa 41:13
“For I am the LORD your God, who upholds your right hand,
Who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.'

Lev 25:17
‘So you shall not wrong one another, but you shall fear your God;
for I am the LORD your God.

Zechariah - Lesson 7

Zechariah - Lesson 7

The Word: Episode 1461 Matthew 23:29-36

“You…”

November 2, 2020

“You…”

Blessings folk!!

The people and their leadership continue to pray unto the Most High God.

They acknowledged the good that He has done for them.

They continue…give close heed to the action of God…

Neh 9:23-24
“You made their sons numerous as the stars of heaven,
And You brought them into the land
Which You had told their fathers to enter and possess.

“So their sons entered and possessed the land.
And You subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites,
And You gave them into their hand, with their kings and the peoples of the land,
To do with them as they desired.

What did God do?

He made…multiplied them upon the land…as numerous as the stars of heaven (that is interesting)

He brought…into the land…

He told…their fathers about land.
They entered.
They possessed.
They.
Their sons.

He subdued…the inhabitants of the land He promised.

He gave…the inhabitants into their hands…kings, peoples…to do with them as they desired.

“As they desired”?

Yep.

The Lord had told them what to do with the inhabitants.

They had a choice.
Do what God said.
Do what they desired.

Wonder what they did?

For us, fear not.
The Lord made us.
The Lord will bring us into the land.
The Lord will subdue the enemy.
The Lord will give us that which He has for us.

“Kingdoms and Peoples”

November 1, 2020

“Kingdoms and Peoples”

Blessings folk!

The people of the Lord continued to pray.

Not only did the Lord meet their needs, He provided well beyond.

Neh 9:22
“You also gave them kingdoms and peoples,
And allotted them to them as a boundary.
They took possession of the land of Sihon the king of Heshbon
And the land of Og the king of Bashan.

The Lord granted them other kingdoms.
The Lord gave other peoples into their hands.
The Lord gave them land…
- the land of Sihon - Numbers 21, 32
- the land of Og - Numbers 21, 32

The Lord expanded their influence.

The Lord gave them the land He promised…step by step.

The people knew what the Lord had done for them.
They knew what they had done to Him.

They were repenting.

So should we…
