“When...trust in the Lord”

Blessings Folk!

Remember…

When you do not know what is happening…
Trust in the Lord.

When you do not know what to do…
Trust in the Lord.

When you do not know which way to go…
Trust in the Lord.

7 I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.
KJV

When the enemy seeks to convince you that your life has been a waste…
Trust in the Lord.

When the enemy sends a spirit of confusion…
Trust in the Lord.

KJV

When you do not know from where provision will come…
Trust in the Lord.

Matt 6:31-34
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seekHappy for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
KJV

Ps 37:3-4
3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
KJV

When you are tempted to run away, rather than run to the Lord…
Trust in the Lord.

Ps 73:28
28 But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.
KJV

When fear comes against you…
Trust in the Lord.

Ps 115:11
11 Ye that fear the Lord, trust in the Lord: he is their help and their shield.
KJV

Prov 29:25
25 The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.
KJV

When those in whom you trust fail you…
Trust in the Lord.

Ps 118:8-9
8 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.
9 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.
KJV

So, trust, delight, rejoice, wait, draw near to the Lord.

Lean not on circumstance nor our understanding of such.

Trust in the Lord.

"Should...?"

January 24, 2011

“Should…?”

Blessings Folk!

We all encounter the same questions of life continually.

Should I?
Should I not?

Now?
Later?

Right?
Left?

Wait?
Proceed?

We make these decisions on a daily basis...many small ones each day.

Larger decisions from time to time.

Marriage?
Job?
School?

As to issues of good vs. evil, righteousness vs. sin, etc. the decision is easy.

Choose good.
Choose righteousness.

Reject evil.
Reject sin.

Here are some truths of which I keep reminding myself.

First and primary, seek first the Kingdom of God...

Second, trust the Lord. He knows what we need...

Matthew 6
31 "Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing?'
32 "For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

33 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

34 "So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Third, do not worry about tomorrow. The Lord knows our tomorrow. Press on. Fear not.

Fourth, wait patiently…
Fifth, rest in the rescue of the Lord...
Sixth, praise Him...

Psalm 40
1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

I could go on with the “number list”...you get the idea.

Also, we have comfort in the Word from the great cloud of witnesses that have gone before us. Here is one of my favorite examples...from Paul...

Acts 16
6 Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,
7 After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.
8 And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas.
9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.
10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

Paul and his entourage had come from one direction.
They were forbidden by the Spirit to go another way.
They sought to go another direction (they are running short of options...only 4 directions Happy )...the Spirit suffered them not...would not allow.
Paul received direction via a vision.

Note that Paul did not know without doubt exactly which way to go!

God guided.
God guarded.

We desire to know the “will of God.”
This is good.

Here is the will of God…

1 Thessalonians 5
16 Rejoice always;
 17 pray without ceasing;
18 in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

So, as we face the decisions…

Seek the Lord and His Kingdom...
Rejoice always…
Pray without ceasing…
Give thanks in everything...

Blessings!

"Covered"

“Covered”

Blessings Folk!

Locally, we are still under a blanket of snow...the marvelous, profound sound of silence.

In like manner, we are at peace when we are covered in the Lord and the salvation He provides…

Isa 1:18
18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord : though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
KJV

Ps 51:7
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
KJV

The Peace of the Lord is upon those who keep their mind upon Him…

Isaiah 26:3
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Again, without going into details of the science, water is interesting in that it occurs naturally in three different states - liquid, solid and vapor (gas). There are pictures to be gleaned to those who seek…

Proverbs 25
2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

God - Father/Son/Spirit
Man - Body/Soul/Spirit

The Word gives us understanding.

Hebrews 4
11 Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience.
12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

1 Thessalonians 5
23 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As we have been examining in recent days, Jesus offered Living Water to the woman at the well.

She chose to drink.
So did those of her community.

John 4
39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
 41 And many more believed because of his own word;
42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

Give heed to what the Lord is saying to you through His creation.
Learn from His Word.

Deu 29
29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

You will be amazed at the revelation, enlightenment and illumination that He has for you.

Ephesians 1
15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
 16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

So, receive the Living Water.
Walk in revelation, illumination, enlightenment, understanding, peace and power.
Examine the treasures of snow, the blue bird, the cardinal...creation declaring the glory of the Lord.

Then, this last thought.
What adjustments is the Lord calling you to make so that such is a pattern of life?

Selah!

"Snow"

January 11, 2011

“Snow”

Blessings Folk!

Locally we have experienced a weather time that is rather rare - snow.
Schools, businesses, etc. have been closed for two days. Such occurs every twenty years or so.

I believe there are some things for us to learn in such times.

Folk notice such, though often they give no heed to the truth.

A good blanket of snow does some things…

  • brings peace...certainly you have noticed the quiet, the peace. The animals themselves tread lightly and quietly. One can hear the strength of silence in the snow cover.
  • snow brings sustenance...some in the immediate, much later. Ground water tables are patiently and gradually restored.
  • snow brings a change of pace...several have noted how excited they were to be able to spend time with family, friends, etc. The cares and concerns of the world are literally “put on ice.”
  • snow brings a thermal blanket of protection to that in the ground

There is more.

Snow is a picture of what the Lord does in our lives.

KJV

We are forgiven.
Though our sins are as red...we are as “white as snow…as wool.”
Snow is a vivid reminder of the purity of our salvation...the covering of salvation...as a fine, pure wool garment.

The Lord guides the snow…

Ps 147:16
16 He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes.
KJV

Job 37:5-6
5 God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.
6 For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.
KJV

As with the snow, our salvation if from the Most High.

There are treasures in snow...especially within the “science” realm...I will not bore you with the details, but much about creation can be gleaned from snow. God asked Job if he had “entered into” the treasures of snow. There are treasures and mysteries there. Also, note the reference to hailstones, especially the timing...this is an amazing reference to end-time events yet to come...

Job 38:22-23
22 Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail,
23 Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?
KJV

There are treasures of our salvation into which we are to enter.

Snow praises the Lord…fulfilling His Word...

Ps 148:7-8
7 Praise the Lord from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps:
8 Fire, and hail; snow, and vapour; stormy wind fulfilling his word:
KJV

Snow is refreshing…

Prov 25:13
13 As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
KJV

We are the faithful messenger of the Most High.
We are to refresh...even as the snow.

Snow is a picture of the Word…

Isa 55:10-11
10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
KJV

One more...snow is used to describe the Lord…

Rev 1:14
14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;
KJV

So, as we experience the snow, let us remember…

  • salvation
  • the power and wonder of the Lord
  • to praise the Lord, even as the snow
  • to bring refreshing
  • to allow the Word of the Lord to bring forth fruit
  • the Lord is returning

Seize the change of schedule and allow a time of refreshing from the Most High.

Pray for those on the Prayer List…

"Amazed Disciples"

January 6, 2011

“Amazed Disciples”

Blessings Folk!

We have seen the response of the Samaritan folk to the urging of the woman Jesus encountered at the well…

John 4
29 "Come, see a man who told me all the things that I have done; this is not the Christ, is it?"

40 So when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they were asking Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days.
 41 Many more believed because of His word;
42 and they were saying to the woman, "It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world."

They went.
They sought.
They heard.
They believed.

There is much for us to hear in this passage, especially related to propagation of the Kingdom.

But, what was the response of the disciples of the Lord?

The disciples had gone to town to fetch vittles.
Upon return, they were amazed to find Jesus speaking with a woman.

John 4
27 At this point His disciples came, and they were amazed that He had been speaking with a woman, yet no one said, "What do You seek?" or, "Why do You speak with her?"

Even more amazing is that they held their tongues.
They realized that something was occurring.
(How often do we speak when we should not...especially when the Lord is moving…?)

Then, they could not understand the curious actions of the Lord. He was not eating.

Jesus then shows them some truths that are applicable to us today.

Faithfulness within the Kingdom has physiological effects.
The sharing of Living Water had quenched hunger.
There are more important things than food. Happy
Sowing and reaping.
We are sustained by doing the will of Father.
We are sustained by accomplishing His work that He has in our life.

These are opposed to the mind of the world.

John 4
31 Meanwhile the disciples were urging Him, saying, "Rabbi, eat."
32 But He said to them, "
I have food to eat that you do not know about."
33 So the disciples were saying to one another, "No one brought Him anything to eat, did he?"
34 Jesus said to them, "
My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work.
 35 "
Do you not say, 'There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest'? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.
 36 "
Already he who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
 37 "
For in this case the saying is true, 'One sows and another reaps.'
 38 "
I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor."

The disciples were focused on the task at hand - meal time. Nothing wrong with food. But, though hungry like the disciples, Jesus was receiving something else - fruit of the Kingdom.

May we do likewise…

...continued…

Pray for these folk...especially Jackie…

"Come and See!"

January 4, 2011
“Come and See!”

Blessings Folk!

Jesus had met a woman at a well.
Jesus had told her about her life.
Jesus had explained what worship means.
Jesus had boldly and clearly told her that He was Messiah.

So, what was the woman’s response?

Read closely…

John 4
28 So the woman left her waterpot, and went into the city and said to the men,
29 "Come, see a man who told me all the things that I have done; this is not the Christ, is it?"

She left her waterpot behind...the purpose of the trip.

As we saw yesterday, she had knowledge and expectation related to Christ.
Now she has experienced Him.

She immediately left to tell others.

We should do likewise.

Why do we not?

I strongly suspect it is because of something that crossed my mind some...doing the math...25 years ago.

I had a good friend who was my trainer in the latest evangelism method. Nothing wrong with that. Always good to have many tools in the toolbox. But, I could not get away from a thought. I remember telling Bruce “I think we are seeking to equip people to share that which they have not experienced.”

I believe it even more today.

Far too many who profess faith/belief/salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ are not truly saved.

I’ve heard that Billy Graham has said that of the “church” are not saved.

I think it is more….75%.

I base this on the Parable of the Sower - Matthew 13, Mark 4, Luke 8.

But, I digress...sorta.

The point for us today is that when we have experienced the true Messiah we will tell others.

Too often we think we are expected to be “preachers”, “evangelist”, etc.

No. Not in the sense that we see such terms/titles in the western church.

We are to be faithful in telling others as we go.

Jesus spoke this to the eleven...

Matthew 28
18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

The woman did not tell what she was “doing for him.”
She did not “take pride” in what “she had done”...finding Him.
She simple told the truth, then asked a question.

John 4
30 They went out of the city, and were coming to Him.

They sought Jesus.

We can not “make someone get saved.”
We can tell them where Messiah is.

What did they discover?

John 4
39 From that city many of the Samaritans believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, "He told me all the things that I have done."
40 So when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they were asking Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days.
 41 Many more believed because of His word;
42 and they were saying to the woman, "It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world."

Be faithful where the Lord has placed you.
Speak the Truth.
Tell of Jesus.

Some will believe because of what you say.
More will believe because of what they see in you.
Many will believe because they have “heard for ourselves.”

What do we tell?

One of the most powerful things you can tell someone is what the Lord has done for you… “He told me all the things I have done.”

This One.
Indeed, He is the Savior of the world.

Blessings!

"From Expectation to Experience"

January 3, 2011

“From Expectation to Experience”

Blessings Folk!

I Who speak to you am He.”

What profundity.

How unexpected.

The woman had simply gone about the duties of the day...one of which was to procure water from the wall.

An arduous task to say the least.

The last thing she expected was a life-changing transformation.
The last thing she expected was a transition from expectation to experience.

I believe that we are in such a time.

A quick review…

John 4
21 Jesus said to her, "
Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.
 22 "
You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews.
 23 "
But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.
 24 "
God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
25 The woman said to Him, "I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us."
26 Jesus said to her, "
I who speak to you am He."

Again, one of the most profound teachings on worship in the Word...giving by the Word...to a woman that most of the world would have nothing with which to do… a sinner.

We see that she had expectation.
She knew that Messiah was coming.
She knew that Messiah would declare all things to them.
She was curious as to what to do in the meantime.
Was “her” form of worship correct?
Was “there” (Jews) form correct?

Jesus answered her inquiry, then went further.

Read verse 23 again...pay close attention.

Note the timing...hour is coming and now is.

The time is now.

For what?

True worshippers to worship the Father in spirit and truth.
Not is rule, regulation, religion.
In Spirit.
In Truth.

Even more amazing…

Father seeks such people to be His worshipers.

Father is seeking.

The woman was seeing the fruit of the Living Water being offered.

Her expectation could be transformed into experience.

It soon would be…

What of us?

We have expectation of the move of the Lord, yet we quench such in so many ways.

Let us determine to worship Father in Spirit and Truth.

Let us anticipate transition.

Let us trust Him

Are you ready for transition?

Are you walking faithfully in each moment?

Let us do so...much is changing today, much more tomorrow…

Fear not.

Trust the Lord

Blessings!
