It is good to give thanks to the Lord, especially at the beginning of a new year.
We are commanded to give thanks in everything…
Not necessarily “give thanks” for everything…but in everything…
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
It is God’s will that we give thanks.
Let’s take some time to look at a Psalm of David.
One would think that a psalm of David would be in the book of Psalms.
But, not all of them are.
This one is in 1 Chronicles (though strong echoes are in the Psalms )
David said this…
Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people.
We are told to give thanks unto the Lord.
We are told to call upon His name.
We are told to make known His deeds among the people.
Today, do so.
Call upon His name.
Make known His deeds.
Later, we will look at the context…from verse 1 forward.
Ah, go ahead…take a peek…notice anything interesting…
So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it: and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God.
