1 Th 1:2-5

We give thanks to God always for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers;

constantly bearing in mind your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father,

knowing, brethren beloved by God, His choice of you;

for our gospel did not come to you in word only,
but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction;
just as you know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.

That last line… “just as you know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.”

They brought good news!
The gospel!
The gospel of Messiah that will forgive and transform.

But, they did not come in word only.
They came in power.
They came in the Holy Spirit…not just the spirit of man.
They came in full conviction…no doubt, no compromise.

Their life, living before the Thessalonians just a brief period of time, proved what they proclaimed.

Which presents the questions…

What are we proclaiming with our lives?
The Gospel?
Is power in our lives?
Do we live in full conviction of the power of the Holy Spirit?
