“Exhortation”

Blessings folk!

Paul continues to speak to the Thessalonians via letter…

1 Th 2:3-4

For our exhortation does not come from error or impurity or by way of deceit;

but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel,
so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who examines our hearts.

Paul is exhorting them.
He says so plainly.
He tells them that his exhortation does not come
- from error
- from impurity
- by way of deceit

He then ties the exhortation to his proclamation of the gospel to them.

Paul and friends were approved by God.
They had been entrusted with the gospel by God.

The same applied to the exhortation they were giving.

It was from God.
God knew their heart.

They spoke the truth of God without regard to seeking to please men…a rare thing today.

So, Paul was letting them know that the things he was saying in this letter were from God.
It was not from man.

Therefore, listen and receive as they had the gospel.

We need to receive the Word in like manner.

We need to speak the Word in like manner.
