“In That Day…”

June 30, 2019

“In That Day…”

Blessings folk!

Read this amazing passage about what the Lord will do for Israel.
This is yet to occur.
Give close heed to what is stated about the love of the Lord.

Zep 3:12-20

“But I will leave among you
A humble and lowly people,
And they will take refuge in the name of the LORD.

“The remnant of Israel will do no wrong
And tell no lies,
Nor will a deceitful tongue
Be found in their mouths;
For they will feed and lie down
With no one to make them tremble.”

Shout for joy, O daughter of Zion!
Shout in triumph, O Israel!
Rejoice and exult with all your heart,
O daughter of Jerusalem!

The LORD has taken away His judgments against you,
He has cleared away your enemies.
The King of Israel, the LORD, is in your midst;
You will fear disaster no more.

In that day it will be said to Jerusalem:
“Do not be afraid, O Zion;
Do not let your hands fall limp.

“The LORD your God is in your midst,
A victorious warrior.
He will exult over you with joy,
He will be quiet in His love,
He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.

“I will gather those who grieve about the appointed feasts—
They came from you, O Zion;
The reproach of exile is a burden on them.

“Behold, I am going to deal at that time
With all your oppressors,
I will save the lame
And gather the outcast,
And I will turn their shame into praise and renown
In all the earth.

“At that time I will bring you in,
Even at the time when I gather you together;
Indeed, I will give you renown and praise
Among all the peoples of the earth,
When I restore your fortunes before your eyes,”
Says the LORD.

In that day…

  • They will not fear
  • The Lord God will be in their midst
  • The Lord will be the Victorious Warrior
  • The Lord will “be quiet in His love…”… some translations state “the Lord will renew you in His love”…ah, that makes more sense!
  • The Lord will rejoice over them with shouts of joy

There is a day coming for Israel.
There is a day coming for Believers.

Are you ready?

“He Delights in Unchanging Love”

June 29, 2019

“He Delights in Unchanging Love”

Blessings folk!

The Lord loves.
Beyond measure.
Beyond our understanding.
Beyond our explanation.
He loves.

Mic 7:18-20

Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity
And passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession?
He does not retain His anger forever,
Because He delights in unchanging love.

He will again have compassion on us;
He will tread our iniquities under foot.
Yes, You will cast all their sins
Into the depths of the sea.

You will give truth to Jacob
And unchanging love to Abraham,
Which You swore to our forefathers
From the days of old.

The Lord delights in unchanging love.
Think on that.
Therefore, He…

  • Pardons iniquity
  • Passes over the rebellious act of His remnant
  • Does not retain His anger forever
  • Has compassion on us
  • Will tread our iniquities under foot
  • Cast all our sins into the depths of the sea
  • Will give truth
  • Will give unchanging love

Let us rejoice!

“Take Diligent Heed to Yourself…”

June 28, 2019

“Take Diligent Heed to Yourself…”

Blessings folk!

We are to love the Lord our God.
We continue to see what the Word says about such.

Read the following…we will look at it the next couple of days.

Joshua was at the end of his life.
He was speaking to all Israel and their leadership.

A couple of points for today.

Note what the Lord had done for them.
He had fought.
He had drove out the nations/enemy.

Note what the Lord will do for them.
He will fight.
He will drive out the nations/enemy.

Note what we are to do…
Be firm!
Keep the Word!
Take heed to yourself!
Love the Lord!

Jos 23:1-13

Now it came about after many days,
when the LORD had given rest to Israel from all their enemies on every side,
and Joshua was old, advanced in years,

that Joshua called for all Israel,
for their elders and their heads and their judges and their officers, and said to them,
“I am old, advanced in years.

“And you have seen all that the LORD your God has done to all these nations because of you, for the LORD your God is He who has been fighting for you.

“See, I have apportioned to you these nations which remain as an inheritance for your tribes, with all the nations which I have cut off, from the Jordan even to the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun.

“The LORD your God,
He will thrust them out from before you and drive them from before you;
and you will possess their land, just as the LORD your God promised you.

“Be very firm, then, to keep and do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses,
so that you may not turn aside from it to the right hand or to the left,

so that you will not associate with these nations, these which remain among you, or mention the name of their gods, or make anyone swear by them, or serve them, or bow down to them.

“But you are to cling to the LORD your God, as you have done to this day.

“For the LORD has driven out great and strong nations from before you;
and as for you, no man has stood before you to this day.

“One of your men puts to flight a thousand,
for the LORD your God is He who fights for you, just as He promised you.

“So take diligent heed to yourselves to love the LORD your God.

“For if you ever go back and cling to the rest of these nations, these which remain among you, and intermarry with them, so that you associate with them and they with you,

know with certainty that the LORD your God will not continue to drive these nations out from before you; but they will be a snare and a trap to you, and a whip on your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from off this good land which the LORD your God has given you.

Do it!
Take diligent heed to yourself to love the Lord your God!

The Word: Episode 0879 1 John 3:11-12, Genesis 4

“Reubenites, Gadites, Half-tribe of Manasseh”

June 27, 2019

“Reubenites, Gadites, Half-tribe of Manasseh”

Blessings folk!

We have been looking at how we are told in the Word to “love God”.

Here is another account…

Jos 22:1-6

Then Joshua summoned the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh,

and said to them,
“You have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you,
and have listened to my voice in all that I commanded you.

“You have not forsaken your brothers these many days to this day,
but have kept the charge of the commandment of the LORD your God.

“And now the LORD your God has given rest to your brothers, as He spoke to them;
therefore turn now and go to your tents, to the land of your possession,
which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you beyond the Jordan.

“Only be very careful to observe the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, to love the LORD your God and walk in all His ways and keep His commandments and hold fast to Him and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

So Joshua blessed them and sent them away, and they went to their tents.

The Reubenites, Gadites and half-tribe of Manasseh had requested to live in land outside the boundaries initially given to the children of Israel by the Lord.

They were granted the land…if they would fight with all Israel to possess the promised land.

They did.

These verses are the last words from Joshua to them as they prepared to depart to their land.

They had kept all Moses had commanded of them.
They had listened to all that Joshua had commanded.
They had not forsaken their brothers.
They had kept the charge of the commandment of the Lord.

The Lord had now given them rest.

Now…
They could go home.
They could take full possession of their land (their wives/children were already there).
They were to be careful to observe the commandments of the Lord.
They were to love the Lord.
They were to walk in all His ways.
They were to keep His commandments.
They were to hold fast to Him.
They were to serve Him.

They were to do all this with all their heart and soul.

The Lord states this repeatedly.

We are to love the Lord with all our heart, mind, soul and strength.

We do so through Jesus Christ.

Do we?

“The Witness of Heaven and Earth”

June 26, 2019

“The Witness of Heaven and Earth”

Blessings folk!

The Lord God was setting before His people a choice.
Blessings
Or
Curses

We have seen the benefit of choosing blessings.

What if they rejected the Lord?

Reread the first two verses, then press on to see what the Lord says…

Deu 30:15-20

“See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity;

in that I command you today to love the LORD your God,
to walk in His ways and
to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments,
that you may live and multiply,
and that the LORD your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it.

“But if your heart turns away and you will not obey,
but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them,

I declare to you today that you shall surely perish.
You will not prolong your days in the land
where you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess it.

“I call heaven and earth to witness against you today,
that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse.
So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants,

by loving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him;
for this is your life and the length of your days,
that you may live in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers,
to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”

If they…

  • Turn their hearts away from God
  • Do not obey God
  • Are drawn away and worship and serve other gods (remember, these gods are real)

Then, the Lord declares…
  • They would perish
  • They would not have prolonged days in the land
  • He would call heaven and earth as a witness against them

If they chose life, then they and their descendants would prosper
  • By loving the Lord God
  • By obeying HIs voice
  • By holding fast to Him

This is how they were to live.

Choosing the Lord.
Clinging to Him.

We are to do likewise through the Lord Jesus Christ.

“Set Before You”

June 25, 2019

“Set Before You”

Blessings folk!

The Lord gives a succinct synopsis of what He has been saying.

Deu 30:15-16
“See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity;

in that I command you today to love the LORD your God,
to walk in His ways and
to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments,
that you may live and multiply,
and that the LORD your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it.

The Lord was giving the people a choice.
They were about to enter into the promised land.

They could choose.
Live and Prosperity.
Or
Death and Adversity.

The choice would seem to be obvious.

It is.

The Lord was calling them…

  • To love Him
  • To walk in His ways
  • To keep His commandments, statutes, judgments

Why?

So that they may live.
So that they may multiply.
So that they Lord may bless them in the land.
So that they may possess the land.

We have the same choice.
The way of the Lord?
Or
Our way?

“Not Too Difficult. Not Out of Reach”

June 24, 2019

“Not Too Difficult. Not Out of Reach”

Blessings folk!

The Lord has been speaking to His people telling them to love Him with all their heart, mind, soul and strength.

The Lord encouraged them to choose the blessings that He offered, to reject the curses.

Now, read more…

Deu 30:11-14

“For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you,
nor is it out of reach.

“It is not in heaven, that you should say,
‘Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’

“Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say,
‘Who will cross the sea for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’

“But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it.

The Lord was telling his folk that what He required was not impossible.
It was not too difficult.
It was not out of reach.
It was not “in heaven”…no one has to go to heaven to fetch it.
It is not “beyond the sea’.

The very word was near them.
The word was in their mouth.
The word was in their heart.
It was there for them to observe.

They simply needed to believe the Word of the Lord.
They simply needed to speak/proclaim the Word.
The Word would empower.

How much more so for those who profess to be believers.
We have the very power and presence of the Most High in us…Father, Son, Spirit reside in us.

Speak the Word.
Live the Word.

“If You Obey the Lord”

June 23, 2019

“If You Obey the Lord”

Blessings folk!

The Lord continues to tell what will occur when His people love Him.

Deu 30:6-10

“Moreover the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants,
to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live.

“The LORD your God will inflict all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you.

“And you shall again obey the LORD,
and observe all His commandments which I command you today.

“Then the LORD your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your ground, for the LORD will again rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers;

if you obey the LORD your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and soul.

Notice it is the Lord Who will circumcise their heart…and their descendants.
He has done this to some degree.
The major portion is yet to come.

The Lord will inflict curses on their enemies.
He has done this.
He will continue.

They will obey the Lord and His commandments.

The result?

The Lord will..

  • Prosper the work of their hand…abundantly
  • Prosper the offspring of their bodies, their cattle and produce of the ground
  • Rejoice over them

If they obey the Lord…
If they keep His commandments…
If they keep His statutes written in the Law…
If they turned to the Lord with all their heart and soul.

Today, we do this in and through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Do we?

The Word: Episode 0874 1 John 3:1-2

“Return. Obey.”

June 22, 2019

“Return. Obey.”

Blessings folk!

Read the following carefully.

Most believers know/understand little from the Old Testament.
We are not taught.
We do not initiate ourselves.

There are significant principles and truths that we must know.
We simply can not understand all that the Lord has for us without this knowledge.

The Lord had told his people that He would scatter them if they did not love Him with all their heart, mind, soul and strength.

He did.

He also told them that He would restore them…eventually.

These verses speak of what He would yet do from the time perspective of when it was written.
From our our time perspective, they have occurred…to a point.
There has been a partial/continued restoration of Israel to the land.
The Lord has provided a “new heart” to those who believe…that Jesus is Messiah.

Deu 30:1-6

“So it shall be when all of these things have come upon you,
the blessing and the curse which I have set before you,
and you call them to mind in all nations where the LORD your God has banished you,

and you return to the LORD your God and obey Him with all your heart and soul according to all that I command you today, you and your sons,

then the LORD your God will restore you from captivity,
and have compassion on you,
and will gather you again from all the peoples where the LORD your God has scattered you.

“If your outcasts are at the ends of the earth,
from there the LORD your God will gather you,
and from there He will bring you back.

“The LORD your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed
and you shall possess it; and He will prosper you and multiply you more than your fathers.

“Moreover the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants,
to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live.

Return to the Lord.
Obey Him.

He will restore.
He will have compassion.
He will gather.
He will bring you into a land He has prepared for you.

He will give you a new heart.
Salvation.
Hallelujah!

“Investigate, Search Out, Inquire”

June 21, 2019

“Investigate, Search Out, Inquire”

Blessings folk!

The Lord is serious about not worshiping other gods.

Heed His warning.
Heed the benefit of rejecting other gods.

Deu 13:12-18

“If you hear in one of your cities,
which the LORD your God is giving you to live in, anyone saying that

some worthless men have gone out from among you and have seduced the inhabitants of their city, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods’ (whom you have not known),

then you shall investigate and search out and inquire thoroughly.
If it is true and the matter established that this abomination has been done among you,

you shall surely strike the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword,
utterly destroying it and all that is in it and its cattle with the edge of the sword.

“Then you shall gather all its booty into the middle of its open square and burn the city and all its booty with fire as a whole burnt offering to the LORD your God;
and it shall be a ruin forever. It shall never be rebuilt.

“Nothing from that which is put under the ban shall cling to your hand, in order that the LORD may turn from His burning anger and show mercy to you, and have compassion on you and make you increase, just as He has sworn to your fathers,

if you will listen to the voice of the LORD your God,
keeping all His commandments which I am commanding you today,
and doing what is right in the sight of the LORD your God.

Evil men will seduce to worship and serve other gods.
We must deal with them.
Note, we are to investigate, search out, inquire thoroughly.
The “organizational church” is full of such individuals.
They deny the Word of God - by word and deed.
They promote the way of the world and other gods - by word and deed.
They tickle ears - by word and deed.
They deny the true faith, all the while professing to be believers.

Be not deceived.

If God is your Lord, then listen to His voice.
If God is your Lord, then keep His commandments.
If God is your Lord, then do what is right in His eyes.
If God is not your Lord, then repent. Today is the day of salvation.

“Counseled Rebellion”

June 20, 2019

“Counseled Rebellion”

Blessings folk!

We saw yesterday what the Lord said about someone who prophesies/advices the seeking of/worship of other gods.

The Lord continues.

Read carefully.
Important principles for today.

Deu 13:5-11

“But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has counseled rebellion against the LORD your God who brought you from the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the house of slavery, to seduce you from the way in which the LORD your God commanded you to walk. So you shall purge the evil from among you.

“If your brother, your mother’s son, or your son or daughter, or the wife you cherish, or your friend who is as your own soul, entice you secretly, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods’ (whom neither you nor your fathers have known,

of the gods of the peoples who are around you, near you or far from you,
from one end of the earth to the other end),

you shall not yield to him or listen to him;
and your eye shall not pity him, nor shall you spare or conceal him.

“But you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.

“So you shall stone him to death because he has sought to seduce you from the LORD your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

“Then all Israel will hear and be afraid, and will never again do such a wicked thing among you.

The prophet or dreamer was to be put to death.
Why?
Because he counseled rebellion against the Lord.
Because he seduced them from the way of the Lord.
Because he led them in evil.

The Lord had delivered the people from Egypt.
The Lord had redeemed them from slavery.

They were to now remember and put such evil from themselves.

If anyone, even family members, enticed them secretly to follow the other gods, then such a person was to be killed.

Remember, the gods are real.
They are not myth.
They are not fiction.
They are not symbolic.
They are real.

The people of the Lord were not to serve them.
Those who advise to do so were to be killed…stoned.

Why such a permanent punishment?
Because…

  • They were to purge evil
  • All Israel would hear and be afraid
  • All Israel would be persuaded to never do such wickedness

What does this have to do with us…true believers?

We endure too much evil among those professing to be of the Body of Christ, yet they are frauds.
They are not saved.
They are not of the Lord.
They lead many away from the the Most High to other gods.

Such is rampant in our society.

We must address it.

We are not to seek the permanent solution.
We are to seek their salvation.
We are not to allow them in leadership positions of the organized church.
We need to purge the evil.

“Cling to Him”

June 19, 2019

“Cling to Him”

Blessings folk!

It is amazing how many different times and how many different ways the Lord told His people to love Him…
With all their heart.
With all their soul.
With all their mind.
With all their strength.

Note the warning and instruction…

Deu 13:1-4

“If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder,

and the sign or the wonder comes true, concerning which he spoke to you, saying,
‘Let us go after other gods (whom you have not known) and let us serve them,’

you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams;
for the LORD your God is testing you to find out if you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

“You shall follow the LORD your God and fear Him; and you shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him, and cling to Him.

The Lord would test them as to whether they loved Him.

In this example, it would be through a prophet/dreamer of dreams.

The prophet would speak.
He would provide a sign or wonder to verify his word.
If the word was to pursue other gods, then they would know that the Lord was testing.
The word of the prophet was incorrect, even if it had attesting signs and wonders.

Remember, these gods were/are real.
They are not fake.
They are not fiction.
They are not myth.
They are divine beings who have rebelled against the Most High God.

These gods would have prophets.
They would have signs and wonders.
Yet, they are not the Most High God.
They will seek to lead man to worship and serve them.

The Lord reiterates again…
Follow the Lord your God.
Fear the Lord.
Keep His commandments.
Listen to His voice.
Serve Him.
Cling to Him.

Cling to Him?
That is “new”.

Do we cling to Him?

“Be Careful to Do”

June 18, 2019

“Be Careful to Do”

Blessings folk!

The book of Deuteronomy is the “second giving of the law”.

Moses was restating the Law for the second generation of Israelites that were about to enter the Promised Land.

The first generation had died due to lack of faith and obedience.

The Lord had told the current generation to love Him with all their hearts, mind, soul and strength.

He had told them the choice between blessings and curses.

He now says this…

Deu 11:29-32

“It shall come about, when the LORD your God brings you into the land where you are entering to possess it, that you shall place the blessing on Mount Gerizim and the curse on Mount Ebal.

“Are they not across the Jordan, west of the way toward the sunset, in the land of the Canaanites who live in the Arabah, opposite Gilgal, beside the oaks of Moreh?

“For you are about to cross the Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God is giving you, and you shall possess it and live in it,

and you shall be careful to do all the statutes and the judgments which I am setting before you today.

The Lord told them about two mountains - Gerizim and Ebal.
God told them where they were located.

They were to do something there.
From Gerizim they would “place” blessing.
From Ebal they would “place” curse.
(We see the actual account in Joshua 8:33)

The Lord tells them what was to occur.
They would cross the Jordan (the account shows that God piled up the water for them to cross on dry land!)
They would possess the land that the Lord was giving them.
They would live in it.

They were to be careful to do all the statutes and judgments of the Lord.

How about us?
Do we truly possess what the Lord has for us?
Are we carefully obeying and abiding?

“Blessing or Curse”

June 17, 2019

“Blessing or Curse”

Blessings folk!

We continue through Deu 11…remember, landed there while looking at the “love of God”.

Watch as the Lord draws some conclusion…

Deu 11:26-28

“See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse:

the blessing,
if you listen to the commandments of the LORD your God,
which I am commanding you today;

and the curse,
if you do not listen to the commandments of the LORD your God,
but turn aside from the way which I am commanding you today,
by following other gods which you have not known.

The Lord was setting options before them.
He gave them a choice.
They could choose.
Blessing.
Curse.

They would receive blessings if they listen to the commandments of the Lord… if they obeyed.

They would receive curses if they did not listen to the commandments of the Lord.
Notice “how” they did not listen.
They followed “other gods”.
“Gods” they had not known.

These gods are real.
They are not mythology.
They are not fiction.
They are not what we paint them today…”idols” related to stuff.

They are divine beings.
They are supernatural beings in the unseen realm.

These gods are “elohim” that had been assigned by the Most High God to rule over rebellious mankind and his nation. (Deu 32:8-9)

Deu 32:8-9

When the Most High gave to the nations their inheritance,
when he divided mankind,
he fixed the borders of the peoples
according to the number of the sons of God.

But the LORD’s portion is his people,
Jacob his allotted heritage.

These gods are a part of God’s Divine Council (Psalm 82) who rebelled against God.

Israel was being tempted to follow them.

The Lord said to follow them would bring curse.

These gods are still here today.

Choose.
Blessing?
Curse?

“The Lord Will Lay…”

June 16, 2019

“The Lord Will Lay…”

Blessings folk!

If the people of the Lord obeyed Him, then some things would happen.

We have covered the first two verses below.

Read them all…

Deu 11:22-25
“For if you are careful to keep all this commandment which I am commanding you to do,
to love the LORD your God,
to walk in all His ways and
hold fast to Him,

then the LORD will drive out all these nations from before you,
and you will dispossess nations greater and mightier than you.

“Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours; your border will be from the wilderness to Lebanon, and from the river, the river Euphrates, as far as the western sea.

“No man will be able to stand before you; the LORD your God will lay the dread of you and the fear of you on all the land on which you set foot, as He has spoken to you.

The Lord would drive out nations before them.
The Lord would dispossess greater and mightier nations before them.
Every place the sole of their foot treaded would be theirs.

The Lord then tells them their geography.

The Land the Lord gave to Israel is clearly delineated in several places in the Word.

Then this…

No man would be able to stand before them.
The Lord would lay the dread of them on other people.
Fear of them would be upon other people.

The same principles applies to Believers today.

If we walk in His way…
If we love Him….
If we abide/hold fast to Him…

Then, He will grant unto us that which He desires.

“Hold Fast to Him”

June 15, 2019

“Hold Fast to Him”

Blessings folk!

Write the Word of the Lord upon your heart.
Speak it.
Teach it.
Proclaim it.
Rejoice in it.

The Word is not just something to be “studied” a couple of times a week for a few minutes.
The Word is not to be “taken in” by listening to someone for a few moments every now and then.

The Word is alive!
The Word is life!
The Word is to be lived by word and deed.

Our lives reflect what we believe about the Word of God.

Many…far too many in church leadership…claim to believe the Word, but never speak if forth in conversation…nor in the pulpit.

They flit about it, painting a picture of depth and familiarity, yet they avoid a true encounter with the Word of the Lord,

We have seen in Deu. 11 what we are to do with the Word of the Lord.

Watch what the Lord will do if we are faithful and keep His Word…

Deu 11:22-23
“For if you are careful to keep all this commandment which I am commanding you to do,
to love the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and hold fast to Him,

then the LORD will drive out all these nations from before you,
and you will dispossess nations greater and mightier than you.

The Lord will grant victory.
Victory over enemies before us.
He will dispossess that which comes against us.

Love the Lord your God.
Keep His commandments.
Walk in His ways.
Hold fast to Him.

He is the Victor!

“Teach. Write”

June 14, 2019

“Teach. Write”

Blessings folk!

What are we to do with the Word of the Lord?

Deu 11:18-21

“You shall therefore impress these words of mine on your heart and on your soul; and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.

“You shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up.

“You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates,

so that your days and the days of your sons may be multiplied on the land which the LORD swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens remain above the earth.

We are to have the Word in our mind and heart.
We are to allow the Word to guide our hand.
We are to allow the Word to guide our thoughts.

Then…

We are to teach the Word to our family.
Not limited to a particular “devotional” time…
Not limited to “sunday school”…
Not limited to “worship” time…

But…
As we are sitting in the house.
As we walk/ride/drive along the road.
As we lie down.
As we rise.

The Word of the Lord should/must be upon our lips with every breath.

Think on this.

We have a choice.
To speak the Blessing of the Word of the Lord.
Or
To speak that of the flesh, soul…perhaps even the curse of the enemy.

The Word should be so prevalent in our lives that it is written upon the physical structures in which we live.

Why all this?
So that our days may be multiplied upon the land…ours…our offspring.

Too many “professing believers” live a fragmented existence.
They have “their life.”
They have a small portion reserved for their “spiritual life”.

Such should not be.

We should overflow with the Word of the Lord, His Power and His Presence.

Do we?

June 13, 2019

“Impress. Bind.”

Blessings folk!

We continue in Deu 11.

We are to love the Lord will all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

Now, note what is said about the Word of the Lord…

Deu 11:18

“You shall therefore impress these words of mine on your heart and on your soul;
and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.

We are to…

  • Impress the Words of the Lord on our heart and soul
  • We are to bind them on our hand
  • They shall be a frontals on our forehead

The people of Israel took this in a literal sense.
They had the Word on their hands and forehead.

What does this mean to us?

The Word should be in our heart.
The Word should guide every work of our hand.
The Word should direct every thought of our mind

Does it?

“Anger of the Lord Kindled”

Blessings folk!

The Lord has warned us.

We are to beware.
We are to be careful that our hearts are not deceived.
We are not to turn away from God.
We are not to serve other gods.
We are not to worship other gods.

What if we/they do?

Deu 11:16-17

“Beware that your hearts are not deceived,
and that you do not turn away and serve other gods and worship them.

“Or the anger of the LORD will be kindled against you,
and He will shut up the heavens so that there will be no rain
and the ground will not yield its fruit;
and you will perish quickly from the good land which the LORD is giving you.

The anger of the Lord will be kindled against you.
He will shut up the heavens - no rain.
The ground will dry.
No fruit.
No food.

The people will perish quickly from the good land.
The good land the Lord had given.

This happened to the children of Israel.
This happens to us.

In the physical realm.
In the “spiritual” realm…many are the dried up, dead “churches” upon the land.

Beware.

“Beware: Do Not Turn Away”

June 11, 2019

“Beware: Do Not Turn Away”

Blessings folk!

We continue with the Word of the Lord related to loving Him.
We are to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

We pick up the passage…

Deu 11:16
“Beware that your hearts are not deceived,
and that you do not turn away and serve other gods and worship them.

We are warned.
We have a responsibility.
Beware.
Let not your heart be deceived.

Deceived in what way?

By turning away from God
By turning to other gods.
By serving other gods.
By worshipping other gods.

In our western mind we think these “other gods” are material things…cars, boats, events, etc.
This is true to a degree.
But, the greater truth is profound.

There are other gods.
There are other elohim, divine beings in the spiritual realm.

They are real.
They are behind much of what we encounter.

We are not to worship and serve them.

Think on this for a moment.

Many places in scripture tell us that God is greater than all gods.
Are these verses saying that the Most High God is greater than something that does not exist?

It would be like me saying “the Lord is greater than all unicorns”.
It would make no sense.

The gods exist.
This gives profound insight in the Word and the Kingdom of God.

We will talk more about this…

For now, do not serve/worship them.

“The Lord Gives Rain…”

Blessings folk!

We are to love the Lord with all of our hearts, minds, soul and strength.

The Lord tells us much about such.

Watch what happens if we do so…

Deu 11:13-15

“It shall come about,
if you listen obediently to my commandments which I am commanding you today,
to love the LORD your God and to serve Him with all your heart and all your soul,

that He will give the rain for your land in its season,
the early and late rain,
that you may gather in your grain and your new wine and your oil.

“He will give grass in your fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied.

Listen obediently to the Lord.
Abide in the Lord.
Live His commandments.

If we do so, then He will…

  • Give rain for the land in season - early/late
  • Give grain
  • Give new wine
  • Give oil
  • Give grass for livestock

He will give sustenance for life.
We will eat.
We will be satisfied.

How much more so for those of us in the New Covenant?
Doubt not.

Love the Lord.
He will take care of all.

Deu 6:5
“You shall love the LORD your God
with all your heart and
with all your soul and
with all your might.

 Deu 7:9
“Know therefore that the LORD your God,
He is God,
the faithful God,
who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation
with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

 Deu 10:12-13
“Now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require from you,
but to fear the LORD your God,
to walk in all His ways and love Him,
and to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

and to keep the LORD’S commandments and

“God Loves”

Blessings folk!

A quick, foundational truth that we need to think on often.
We forget this.
The enemy wants us to live outside of it.

God loves you.

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

God has loved you from the beginning…

Rom 5:8

But God demonstrates His own love toward us,
in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

While you were a sinner, He demonstrated His love for you/us.
While we were sinners, He died for us.

He loves us that much.

As Believers, this is the foundation of our lives.

Why worry?
Why fret?
Why be anxious?

The Lord loves us more than we know or can imagine.

Let us live in that love.

“Healing…”

June 5, 2019

“Healing…”

Blessings folk!

Sitting in the surgical waiting room awaiting the outcome of a procedure on a family member.

We thank the Lord for what He has revealed to man as to how to handle situations.

God heals.

Sometimes He heals by the hand of the physician.
God uses physicians.
Luke…who wrote the gospel of Luke and Acts…was a physician.
Paul loved him.

Col 4:14
Luke, the beloved physician, sends you his greetings, and also Demas.

Sometime the Lord uses insight/revelation related to diet, etc. to bring healing.

Remember what Paul told Timothy…

1Ti 5:23
No longer drink water exclusively,
but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent ailments.

So…
A physician…
A friend…

Anything else.
Yep!
What about a prophet?

Read the account.
Note who was king.
Note who was prophet.
What happened?

2Ki 20:1-7

In those days Hezekiah became mortally ill.
And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him and said to him,
“Thus says the LORD, ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.’”

Then he turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD, saying,

“Remember now, O LORD, I beseech You, how I have walked before You in truth and with a whole heart and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

Before Isaiah had gone out of the middle court, the word of the LORD came to him, saying,

“Return and say to Hezekiah the leader of My people,
‘Thus says the LORD, the God of your father David, “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the LORD.

“I will add fifteen years to your life, and I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for My own sake and for My servant David’s sake.”’”

Then Isaiah said, “Take a cake of figs.” And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.

King Hezekiah was mortally ill.
The Lord sent Isaiah the prophet to tell Hezekiah to get his house in order.
Hezekiah wept bitterly before the Lord.
The Lord granted another fifteen years of life…a blessing that would be devastating to Israel. (That is a story for another time.)
The prophet then told the King how to be cured…a “poultice” of figs to be laid upon the boil… apparently he had an infected boil

Physicians.
Diet.
Prophetic word.

The Lord heals in multitudes of way.

The Lord also heals through the Spirit…through gifts of healing among His people.
Many examples are given in the Word

Physicians.
Diet.
Prophetic word.
By the Spirit.

Of course, there is the ultimate healing…when He takes us to glory.

Most of time that occurs through death…the transition event from this corporeal existence to the eternal Presence of the Most High.

Need healing?
Seek the Word of the Lord.
Seek the Lord.

“Vapor”

Blessings folk!

Life.
It is short.

Jas 4:14
Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow.
You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.

I just returned from the first of three funerals this week.

Sweet lady.
Long life.
Well-lived before the Lord.

We, as Believers, must seize every moment.
Waste not a breath.

The Lord has granted us a specific length of days.
He knows exactly how many.
We do not.

That should motivate us to make every moment count…for the Kingdom.

Length of days can be added (which does not negate the foreknowledge/plan of God)…

Pro 3:1-2

My son, do not forget my teaching,
But let your heart keep my commandments;

For length of days and years of life
And peace they will add to you.

Let your heart keep His commandments.

  • Length of days
  • Years of life
  • Peace
…will be added to you.

Remember,

Eph 6:1-3

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER (which is the first commandment with a promise),

SO THAT IT MAY BE WELL WITH YOU, AND THAT YOU MAY LIVE LONG ON THE EARTH.

Live the days the Lord has granted in His power.

“Precious In the Sight of the Lord”

Blessings folk!

Many are grieving and rejoicing at the home-going of loved ones.

Some were older.
Some were younger.
All are in the hands of the Most High God.

Death is a part of life.
The Word says much about such.

Give heed to what the Word says about those who die “in the Lord”…the holy ones…the “saints”.

Psa 116:15
Precious in the sight of the LORD
Is the death of His godly ones.

Psa 116:15
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

Death of the godly ones is precious in the sight of the Lord.

It is a special time.
It is a precious time.
It is a temporary time of separation for believers.

We rejoice in the believers that have gone before us.
They are now a part of the great cloud of witnesses.

Yes, we grieve.
Yes, we miss them.
Yes, we rejoice that the pain and suffering of this life have passed.
Yes, we anticipate a reunion soon.

Rest in the Lord.

“You Loved Me Before…”

June 2, 2019

“You Loved Me Before…”

Blessings folk!

We are considering the phrase/thought “before the foundation of the world”.

The Word reveals some interesting things.

Consider…

John 17:24
“Father, I desire that they also,
whom You have given Me,
be with Me where I am,
so that they may see My glory which You have given Me,
for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

Jesus is speaking.
He is praying to Father.

Note what Jesus desired.

He wanted those that the Father had given to Him to be with Him…where He would be.

Who?
Disciples.
Those who will believe.

Why?

So that they could see (experience?) the glory that Father had given Jesus.

Then, Jesus make this profound statement…
“for You loved me before the foundation of the world.”

Father loved Son…
Before the foundation of the world.

There is a mystery here.

The mystery of the eternal Godhead covenant.

Father.
Son.
Spirit.

One.

Before the foundation of the world.

Before they created…
The Spirit hovered…
The Son spoke…
All at the behest of Father.

This is the glory in which true believers live.

Hallelujah!

“Predetermined…”

June 1, 2019

“Predetermined…”

Blessings folk!

Fear not.

Why?

God has a plan.

How do we know?

The Word tells us.

God has a plan…before the foundations of the earth.
Before creation was spoken into existence.

Here is an example…

Act 2:22-23

“Men of Israel, listen to these words:
Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know—

this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death.

It was the predetermined plan of God for Jesus to be nailed to the cross by the hands of godless men.
It was predetermined for Jesus to die.
This was done by the foreknowledge of God.

Think on that.

Then, consider.
Why worry?
Why fret?
Why doubt?

Walk in the plan the Lord has for you.
