“We Are Slaves…”

May 31, 2020

“We Are Slaves…”

Blessings folk!

The Levites now conclude their prayer unto the Lord.

Read carefully.
Sound familiar?

Neh 9:36-37

“Behold, we are slaves today,
And as to the land which You gave to our fathers to eat of its fruit and its bounty,
Behold, we are slaves in it.

“Its abundant produce is for the kings
Whom You have set over us because of our sins;
They also rule over our bodies
And over our cattle as they please,
So we are in great distress.

They were slaves.
Slaves in the land that was given to their fathers.
They were to eat its fruit and its bounty, yet they were slaves.

Most of us are slaves.
We do not know it.
We think we are free.
We are not.
Politically.
Spiritually.
We believe the lies.
We do not know who we are in the Lord.

The abundant produce of the land was for the kings.
So it is today.

The kings had been set over them because of their sins.
So it is today.

The kings ruled over their bodies.
So it is today.

The kings ruled over the cattle.
So it is today.

The kings did as they please.
So it is today.

They were in great distress.
So it is today.

“You Have Dealt Faithfully…”

May 30, 2020

“You Have Dealt Faithfully…”

Blessings folk!

The Levites now reach the conclusion to all that they prayed before the Lord on behalf of the people…

Neh 9:33
“However, You are just in all that has come upon us;
For You have dealt faithfully, but we have acted wickedly.

God is just in all that He had done.
God had dealt faithfully with the people.

The people had acted wickedly.
They received just and faithful action from God.

Neh 9:34-35
“For our kings, our leaders, our priests and our fathers have not kept Your law
Or paid attention to Your commandments and Your admonitions with which You have admonished them.

“But they, in their own kingdom,
With Your great goodness which You gave them,
With the broad and rich land which You set before them,
Did not serve You or turn from their evil deeds.

The people, especially the leadership, had not kept the Lord’s law.
They had not paid attention to the Lord’s commandments.
They had not paid attention to the Lord’s admonitions.

What had they done?

Even though they had their own kingdom…
Even with the great goodness which God gave…
Even with the broad/rich land of promise set before them…

They did not serve the Lord.
They did not turn from their evil deeds.

One can “know” and still not “do”.

Be not like that.

“Insignificant Hardship?”

May 29, 2020

“Insignificant Hardship?”

Blessing folk!

The people continue to cry to the Lord.

They had spoken of the sin of their father.
They had spoken of their sin.
They had requested things of the Lord.

Neh 9:32

“Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God,
who keeps covenant and lovingkindness,
Do not let all the hardship seem insignificant before You,
Which has come upon us, our kings, our princes, our priests, our prophets,
our fathers and on all Your people,
From the days of the kings of Assyria to this day.

We get some timing here.

The Lord had brought the Assyrians against His people.
They conquered the northern kingdom by 721 BC.
It is now roughly a couple of hundred years later.

Note how the people describe the Lord:
Our God
Great
Mighty
Awesome
Covenant keeping
Lovingkindness

Note what they asked…
They did not want the hardship of the years to seem insignificant before the Lord.

Think on that.
Gives some insight how they viewed the Lord and themselves.

They wanted the Lord to move in action…

So do we…

“You Bore…”

May 28, 2020

“You Bore…”

Blessings folk!

What was the response of the Lord to His stiff-necked and stubborn people?

Neh 9:30-31

“However, You bore with them for many years,
And admonished them by Your Spirit through Your prophets,
Yet they would not give ear.
Therefore You gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.

“Nevertheless, in Your great compassion You did not make an end of them or forsake them,
For You are a gracious and compassionate God.

He bore with them for many years.
He “put up” with them.

He admonished them.
Note how.
By His Spirit.
Through His prophets.

The people’s response?
Would not listen.

God’s response?
Gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.

Still…nevertheless…
God did not make an end of them.
He did not forsake them.

Why?
Because He is gracious.
Because He is compassionate.
Because He is God.

“Stubborn. Stiff-Necked.”

May 27, 2020

“Stubborn. Stiff-Necked.”

Blessings folk!

The People of the Lord and their forefathers committed great blasphemies before the Lord.

They were now acknowledging that.

They also acknowledged what the Lord did…

Neh 9:27-29

“Therefore You delivered them into the hand of their oppressors who oppressed them,
But when they cried to You in the time of their distress,
You heard from heaven, and according to Your great compassion
You gave them deliverers who delivered them from the hand of their oppressors.

“But as soon as they had rest, they did evil again before You;
Therefore You abandoned them to the hand of their enemies, so that they ruled over them.
When they cried again to You, You heard from heaven,
And many times You rescued them according to Your compassion,

And admonished them in order to turn them back to Your law.
Yet they acted arrogantly and did not listen to Your commandments
but sinned against Your ordinances,
By which if a man observes them he shall live.
And they turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck, and would not listen.

The Lord delivered them into the hands of oppressors.
The people then cried out to the Lord for deliverance.
He heard.
He delivered, according to His great compassion.

As soon as the people had rest, they did evil again.
The Lord again abandoned them into the hands of their enemies.
They cried out, again.
The Lord rescued, again.
Many times.
According to His compassion.
(The book of Judges shows this.)

The Lord admonished them to return to the Law.
Still, they acted arrogantly.
They did not listen to His commandments.
They sinned against His ordinances.
They increased in stubbornness.
They stiffened their neck.
They would not listen.

“But, They Became…”

May 26, 2020

“But, They Became…”

Blessings folk!

The people of the Lord continued to confess the things that their forefathers had done.
They also confessed the things they had done.

Neh 9:26
“But they became disobedient and rebelled against You,
And cast Your law behind their backs
And killed Your prophets who had admonished them
So that they might return to You,
And they committed great blasphemies.

Even after the Lord had provided for them in every way…what did they do?

They became disobedient to the Lord.
They rebelled against the Lord.
They threw the Law of the Lord behind their back.
They killed the Lord’s prophets…
The prophets who admonished them to return to the Lord
They committed great blasphemies.

After all they had seen…
After all the Lord had done for them…

It is easy to turn away.
It is easy to forget.
It is easy to go the way of flesh and of man.

Be forewarned.
Be alert.
Be vigilant.
Heed the Word of the Lord.
Reject the word and way of man.

“You Gave…”

May 25, 2020

“You Gave…”

Blessings folk!

Fear not!
Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness!

The people continue to recount in prayer before the Lord the good things that He had done for them and their forefathers,

Read closely…

Neh 9:22-25

“You also gave them kingdoms and peoples,
And allotted them to them as a boundary.
They took possession of the land of Sihon the king of Heshbon
And the land of Og the king of Bashan.

“You made their sons numerous as the stars of heaven,
And You brought them into the land
Which You had told their fathers to enter and possess.

“So their sons entered and possessed the land.
And You subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites,
And You gave them into their hand, with their kings and the peoples of the land,
To do with them as they desired.

“They captured fortified cities and a fertile land.
They took possession of houses full of every good thing,
Hewn cisterns, vineyards, olive groves,
Fruit trees in abundance.
So they ate, were filled and grew fat,
And reveled in Your great goodness.

Look at what God gave them!

He gave:

  • Kingdoms and peoples
  • Lands of Sihon and Og
  • Sons as numerous as the stars of heaven
  • The Land promised

Look at what the Lord did!
  • He subdued the Canaanites
  • Captured cites and fertile land

Note that they captured intact things
  • Houses full of every good thing
  • Hewn cisterns
  • Vineyards
  • Olive grove
  • Fruit trees…in abundance

Complete, total infrastructure and provision.
Instantly.

The people ate.
The people were filled.
The people grew fat.
The people reveled in the the great goodness of God.

The people now acknowledged all this,

We are in a similar situation.

Will we press on in the the Lord?
Or, will we “but…”?

“You Provided…”

May 24, 2020

“You Provided…”

Blessings folk!

The people of the Lord continue to recount the good things the Lord had done for them.

Neh 9:20-21

“You gave Your good Spirit to instruct them,
Your manna You did not withhold from their mouth,
And You gave them water for their thirst.

“Indeed, forty years You provided for them in the wilderness and they were not in want;
Their clothes did not wear out, nor did their feet swell.

The Lord gave His good Spirit to instruct them.
Often people think the Spirit doesn’t “appear” in the Word until Acts 2.
Wrong.

The Lord gave them manna for food.

The Lord gave them water.

The Lord provided all they needed.
For forty years.
They had not want.
Their clothes did not wear out.
Their feet did not swell.

Think on that.

Why do we worry/fret over such.

Jesus told us to not do so…

 Mat 6:25-33

“For this reason I say to you,
do not be worried about your life,
as to what you will eat or what you will drink;
nor for your body, as to what you will put on.
Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

“Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?

“And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?

“And why are you worried about clothing?
Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,

yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.

“But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!

“Do not worry then, saying,
‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’

“For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things;
for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Seek His Kingdom.
Seek His Righteousness.
He will provide all else.

“This Is Your God…”

May 23, 2020

“This Is Your God…”

Blessings folk!

The people knew the great good that the Lord had done for them.
They also knew the great evil that they and their fathers had done against the Lord.

They continued to recount such in their prayer before the Lord…

Neh 9:18-19

“Even when they made for themselves
A calf of molten metal
And said, ‘This is your God
Who brought you up from Egypt,’
And committed great blasphemies,

You, in Your great compassion,
Did not forsake them in the wilderness;
The pillar of cloud did not leave them by day,
To guide them on their way,
Nor the pillar of fire by night, to light for them the way in which they were to go.

They had committed idolatry.
Idolatry of the worse source.
They created a calf of molten metal…the golden calf…and declared that it was their god.
They committed great blasphemies by declaring that the golden calf had delivered them.

Many do the same today, even professing believers commit idolatry - intended and unintended.

Listen closely to what is said.

Many, most?, worship at the throne of man-made entities and structures.

Rare are the people who truly seek the Lord.

Most hide behind the “we have prayed about it” phrase, then do what man says to do.

Man is idolized.

Yet, it is not “too late”.

As in the days of the Exodus, God’s compassion is great.
He will not forsake.
He will provide.
He will guide.
If we seek.
If we ask.
If we believe.

“But You Are God…”

May 22, 2020

“But You Are God…”

Blessings folk!

The people were recounting the great things that God had done for them.
Then, they confessed the response of their fathers.

Note what the people did.
Note what God does.

Neh 9:16-17

“But they, our fathers, acted arrogantly;
They became stubborn and would not listen to Your commandments.

“They refused to listen,
And did not remember Your wondrous deeds which You had performed among them;
So they became stubborn and appointed a leader to return to their slavery in Egypt.
But You are a God of forgiveness,
Gracious and compassionate,
Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness;
And You did not forsake them.

Even though the fathers…

  • Acted arrogantly
  • Became stubborn
  • Would not/refused to listen
  • Did not remember the wondrous deeds the Lord had performed among them
  • Stubbornly appointed a leader to return them to slavery in Egypt

Even still…
God!
  • The God of Forgiveness
  • Gracious
  • Compassionate
  • Slow to Anger
  • Abounding in Lovingkindness
…did not forsake them.

He did not forsake them!
He will not forsake us!
Seek Him!
Follow His way…

May 21, 2020

“Arrogant. Stubborn. Not Listen.”

Blessings folk!

The leadership of the people were praying before the Lord.

They acknowledged the good things that the Lord had done for them…
  • Spoke to them
  • Gave them ordinances, laws, statutes, commandments
  • Gave them the Sabbath
  • Provided bread
  • Brought forth water
  • Told them to enter the land in order to possess it…a land He gave them

What was the response of the people/forefathers?

Neh 9:16
“But they, our fathers, acted arrogantly;
They became stubborn and would not listen to Your commandments.

Wow!
Even though the Lord did all these good things…and more…their fathers…

  • Acted arrogantly
  • Became stubborn
  • Would not listen to the commandments of the Lord

May we be forewarned!

Do not be as the fathers.

  • Walk humbly

Mic 6:8
He has told you, O man, what is good;
And what does the LORD require of you
But to do justice, to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God?

  • Be not stubborn
Psa 78:8
And not be like their fathers,
A stubborn and rebellious generation,
A generation that did not prepare its heart
And whose spirit was not faithful to God.

  • Listen to the Lord
Psa 34:11
Come, you children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

“Enter In”

Blessings folk!

The people continue to confess the good things that the Lord had done for them.

This is setting up a big “but” to come in verse 16.

For now, read these verses, giving special attention to 15…

Neh 9:13-15

“Then You came down on Mount Sinai,
And spoke with them from heaven;
You gave them just ordinances and true laws,
Good statutes and commandments.

“So You made known to them Your holy sabbath,
And laid down for them commandments, statutes and law,
Through Your servant Moses.

“You provided bread from heaven for them for their hunger,
You brought forth water from a rock for them for their thirst,
And You told them to enter in order to possess
The land which You swore to give them.

The Lord provided bread from heaven for them…manna.
The Lord provided water for them…from a rock.

The Lord had promised a land to them.
He told them to enter in to possess.

They simply had to believe the Lord, enter into the land and possess it.
Thanks all.

Same for us.

True Believers simply believe and live in that which the Lord is leading them.

Do so!

Possess!

Blessings folk!

The people of the Lord were confessing their sin before the Lord.

They were recounting what the Lord had done for them.

Here is some more…

Neh 9:13-14

“Then You came down on Mount Sinai,
And spoke with them from heaven;
You gave them just ordinances and true laws,
Good statutes and commandments.

“So You made known to them Your holy sabbath,
And laid down for them commandments, statutes and law,
Through Your servant Moses.

They are acknowledging what the Lord had done for them.

Spoke to them.
Gave just ordinances.
Gave true laws.
Gave good statutes.
Gave good commandments.
Made known to them His holy sabbath.
Laid down commandments for them.
Laid down statutes.
Laid down the law.

The Lord did this through His servant Moses.

They were simply stating that the Lord had done much good for them.
They had rejected it.

May we not do so.

May 18, 2020

“You Came Down on Mount Sinai”

Blessings folk!

The people are blessings the Lord.
They are crying out to Him.

They have spoken of how He…
  • Performed signs and wonders
  • Made a name for Himself
  • Divided the sea and rescued/delivered them
  • Hurled their pursuers into the sea
  • Provided light for them…
    • A pillar of cloud by day
    • A pillar of fire by night

Now…

Neh 9:13
“Then You came down on Mount Sinai,
And spoke with them from heaven;
You gave them just ordinances and true laws,
Good statutes and commandments.

The Lord came down on Mount Sinai.
The Lord spoke with them from heaven (they then asked Moses to be their intermediary…the sound of the voice of the Lord so frightened them)

The Lord gave them ordinances.
The Lord gave them true laws.
The Lord gave them good statutes.
The Lord gave them good commandments.

They were acknowledging this before the Lord.

The very laws they broke they are now declaring to have been from the Lord…and good!

They knew.
They sought the mercies of the Lord.

“Lead By the Pillar…”

Blessings folk!

The people were praying to the Most High.

They continue to give thanks for what He had done for them…

Neh 9:12
“And with a pillar of cloud You led them by day,
And with a pillar of fire by night
To light for them the way
In which they were to go.

During their sojourning in the wilderness, the Lord led His people.

Pillar of cloud by day.
Pillar of fire by night.
To light the way for them.

They could see both
The cloud.
The fire.
The physical Presence of God leading.

The Lord leads His Body today…

Psa 5:8
O LORD, lead me in Your righteousness because of my foes;
Make Your way straight before me.

“Divided and Hurled”

May 16, 2020

“Divided and Hurled”

Blessings folk!

Do not fear!

The Lord is God of all.
He of signs.
He of wonders..

Fear is placing a situation over the Lord.

The Levites were leading in prayer…we have seen some of the prayer…now, this…

Neh 9:11
“You divided the sea before them,
So they passed through the midst of the sea on dry ground;
And their pursuers You hurled into the depths,
Like a stone into raging waters.

The Lord did the “impossible” by passing His people through the sea on dry ground.

“Impossible” because with God nothing is impossible.

The Word reveals that with God, nothing is impossible.
The Word also reveals that with God, all things are possible.

Luk 1:37
“For nothing will be impossible with God.”

 Luk 18:27
But He said, “The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.”

Mat 19:26
And looking at them Jesus said to them,
“With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

“Impossibly” the Lord delivered His people.
“Impossibly” the Lord destroyed the enemy of His people.
He use the same device/mechanism for both.

What could the Lord be doing in our lives today?

“A Name for Yourself…”

May 15, 2020

“A Name for Yourself…”

Blessings folk!

Do not fear!
Trust the Lord!

I know.
It is hard.

Evil is increasing.

Entire political parties are “shutting down economies” under the guise of “protection”.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

The truth?

The uSA/world economy was strengthening and growing - it had to be destroyed…for political goals.
The uSA states…colored blue…are so in debt that their leadership is “doubling/tripling” down so as to destroy their economies…in hope of a bail out.

It is clear.
Simply look.

The there is the control/manipulation of the populace.

Yet, we are told to not fear!

The Levites were praying to the Lord.
They acknowledged that the Lord saw their affliction in the past.
They knew the Lord had heard their cry and acted.

Now, they state…

Neh 9:10
“Then You performed signs and wonders against Pharaoh,
Against all his servants and all the people of his land;
For You knew that they acted arrogantly toward them,
And made a name for Yourself as it is this day.

There are many Pharaohs today.
Many Pharaoh servants.

They act arrogantly, especially toward the people of faith.
Do you think it is by happenstance that “churches” are “closed”?
They are seeking to destroy, disband, etc. the Body of Christ.
They seek to eradicate the name of the Lord.

Yet, the Lord will make a name for Himself.

Of course, we know the Kingdom and the Body have nothing to do with physical structures and the programs of man.

The Kingdom presses on through His people.

Think folk!
Quit being “sheep of the flesh”.
Be the sheep of the Great Shepherd.

“He Heard Their Cry…”

Blessings folk!

The people were coming before the Lord.
They had sinned.
They were confessing their sin before the Lord.
The Levites led them…

We saw previously that the Lord knew their afflictions from the past…

Neh 9:9a
“You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt,…

Now this…

Neh 9:9
“You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt,
And heard their cry by the Red Sea.

The Lord heard their cries.
Cries from 400 years of slavery.

The Lord delivered them.

But think of this.
In the process of delivering them from Israel, they felt the Lord had abandoned them.

Remember?

Moses/Lord led them to the Red Sea.
They were trapped…or so they thought.
The Sea before them.
The enemy behind them.

They cried to the Lord. He heard.
He parted the sea and provided a path to the other side.

Think of where we/you are at the moment.

In the midst of delivery…
In the midst of the journey to the promised land…
In the midst of the fulfillment of the will of the Lord…
In the midst…we will not understand all that happens…
In the midst…we must trust…
In the midst…we must press on in the Lord…
In the midst…we cry to the Lord and He hears…
In the midst…fear not…
In the midst…be bold and courageous.

The Word: Episode 1288 Ezra 10:1-2

“You Saw the Affliction…”

May 13, 2020

“You Saw the Affliction…”

Blessings folk!

The Levites led the people of the Lord in confessing their sins.

We saw previously that they spoke of all the Lord had done for/through Abraham.

They prayed…

Neh 9:9a
“You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt,…

The Lord heard the affliction of His people when they were slaves in Egypt.
He delivered them.

Think about this for a moment.

The Word tells us that they were in bondage for 400 years.

The Lord told Abram…the Word confirms…

Gen 15:13
God said to Abram,
“Know for certain that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs,
where they will be enslaved and oppressed four hundred years.

Act 7:6
“But God spoke to this effect, that his DESCENDANTS WOULD BE ALIENS IN A FOREIGN LAND, AND THAT THEY WOULD BE ENSLAVED AND MISTREATED FOR FOUR HUNDRED YEARS.

Their affliction and slavery had been told in advanced.
They would know this.
The Lord knew their affliction.
Yet He waited.
Their affliction increased.
They cried the more.
Yet He waited.

Why?
For His purpose..
For His glory.
For His time.
He is God.
He is Lord.
He is maker of all.
He is over all.

Be patient.
Seek the Lord
Yes, cry to the Lord.
Aggressively, patiently wait upon the Lord.

We are His.

Be strong.
Be bold.
Fear not…

…by the way…

Do not believe the lies of man.
Learn the truth.

“You Are the Lord God”

May 12, 2020

“You Are the Lord God”

Blessings folk!

Fear not!
We are the Lord’s.
Trust in Him.
Seek Him.

The Levites were leading the people in prayer before the Lord…

We have seen this…

Neh 9:5-6

Then the Levites, Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah and Pethahiah, said,
“Arise, bless the LORD your God forever and ever!
O may Your glorious name be blessed
And exalted above all blessing and praise!

“You alone are the LORD.
You have made the heavens,
The heaven of heavens with all their host,
The earth and all that is on it,
The seas and all that is in them.
You give life to all of them
And the heavenly host bows down before You.

Read the next two verses.
Give close attention to what was done…

 Neh 9:7-8
“You are the LORD God,
Who chose Abram
And brought him out from Ur of the Chaldees,
And gave him the name Abraham.

“You found his heart faithful before You,
And made a covenant with him
To give him the land of the Canaanite,
Of the Hittite and the Amorite,
Of the Perizzite, the Jebusite and the Girgashite—
To give it to his descendants.
And You have fulfilled Your promise,
For You are righteous.

They again declare that God is Lord.
They acknowledged that He…

  • Chose Abram
  • Brought Abram
  • Gave Abram the name Abraham…”father of nations”
  • Found Abraham to be faith to Him…not perfect, faithful!
  • Made covenant with Abraham…specifically to give him/descendants land
  • Fulfilled His promise

All because the Lord is righteous.

He does the same for us.
He chose us.
He brought and continues to bring us.
He gives us much.
He fulfills His promise.

He continues to be righteous.

Therefore, fear not.
Rest in the Lord.
Be faithful.

Romans Part 3 - Lesson 6

Romans Part 3 - Lesson 6

The Word: Episode 1286 Ezra 9:9-12

“You Alone Made…”

May 11, 2020

“You Alone Made…”

Blessings folk!

Fear not!
Seek the Lord!
Come before Him in prayer, praise and worship.

The Levites were leading the people in prayer.
We see it in Nehemiah 9.
They began by blessing the Lord and declaring the fact that He alone created…

Bless the Lord…with every breath.

Do you believe what was declared here?

  • He is the Lord…Alone
  • He made the heavens
  • He made the heaven of heavens with all their host
    • What is the heaven of heavens?
    • Who are the host?
    • Who are the heavenly host that bow before Him
    • Hint. It is much more than “angels”.
  • He made the earth and all that is on it
  • He made the seas and all that is in them
  • He gave life to all

Do you believe?
Truly believe that the Lord is the source of all life?

Many profess belief, but when you listen closely to what they say you will hear the belief of the world rather than the Truth of the Lord.

Believe!

“Bless the Lord”

May 10, 2020

“Bless the Lord”

Blessings folk!

Fear not!
Seek the Lord!
Confess before the Lord!

Nehemiah 9 gives us an account of when Israel did such.

The Levites led in the prayer.
Note how it is stated.
The must have lifted up a “written” prayer before the Lord…or, perhaps they prayed individually in sequence.
Regardless, hear a portion of what they said…

Neh 9:5

Then the Levites, Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah and Pethahiah, said,
“Arise, bless the LORD your God forever and ever!
O may Your glorious name be blessed
And exalted above all blessing and praise!

They called for the people to arise before the Lord.
They called for the people to bless the Lord your God forever and ever.

This is where we start.

Arise before the Lord in honor.
Bless the Lord “your God”…acknowledging that He is God!
Doing so without ceasing.
Declaring/knowing/understanding His “glorious name”.
Blessing His name.
Exalting His name.
Above all else.

This is where we as Believers live.
In the blessed and glorious name of the Lord.

Do it!
Arise!
Bless!
Exalt!
The Lord God alone.

Anything else…
Any other way…
Is idolatry.

“Confessed Their Sins and Iniquities”

May 9, 2020

“Confessed Their Sins and Iniquities”

Blessings folk!

Do not fear!

So much of the supposed “Body of Christ” is driven by fear.
Do not pay attention to what the say.
Watch what they do.

Fear.

Continue to pray for your nation.

We’ve looked at Daniel’s prayer.
We’ve looked at Ezra’s prayer.
Now, the prayer found in Nehemiah 9…

For today, let’s set the context…

Neh 9:1-4

Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the sons of Israel assembled with fasting,
in sackcloth and with dirt upon them.

The descendants of Israel separated themselves from all foreigners,
and stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers.

While they stood in their place, they read from the book of the law of the LORD their God for a fourth of the day; and for another fourth they confessed and worshiped the LORD their God.

Now on the Levites’ platform stood Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani and Chenani, and they cried with a loud voice to the LORD their God.

Note the scene and what was done.

The sons of Israel:

  • Assembled
  • Fasted
  • In sackcloth
  • With dirt

They had humbled/humiliated themselves.

Then:
  • Separated themselves from foreigners
  • Stood
  • Confessed their sins
  • Confessed the iniquities of their fathers
  • Read from the book of the Law of God for a fourth of the day
  • Confessed and worshipped the Lord for a fourth of the day

The Levites stood before the people.
Levites on a platform..
Visible.
Leading the people in confession and worship.
Crying with a loud voice to the Lord.

This was a large, public outcry to the Lord.

Wait ’til you see what they said.

Perhaps we should do likewise?

The Word: Episode 1283 Ezra 9:1-5

“I Fell On My Knees…”

May 8, 2020

“I Fell On My Knees…”

Blessings folk!

Pray as Ezra did…

Ezr 9:5-15

But at the evening offering I arose from my humiliation, even with my garment and my robe torn, and I fell on my knees and stretched out my hands to the LORD my God;

and I said, “O my God, I am ashamed and embarrassed to lift up my face to You, my God, for our iniquities have risen above our heads and our guilt has grown even to the heavens.

“Since the days of our fathers to this day we have been in great guilt, and on account of our iniquities we, our kings and our priests have been given into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity and to plunder and to open shame, as it is this day.

“But now for a brief moment grace has been shown from the LORD our God, to leave us an escaped remnant and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and grant us a little reviving in our bondage.

“For we are slaves; yet in our bondage our God has not forsaken us, but has extended lovingkindness to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us reviving to raise up the house of our God, to restore its ruins and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem.

“Now, our God, what shall we say after this? For we have forsaken Your commandments,

which You have commanded by Your servants the prophets, saying, ‘The land which you are entering to possess is an unclean land with the uncleanness of the peoples of the lands, with their abominations which have filled it from end to end and with their impurity.

‘So now do not give your daughters to their sons nor take their daughters to your sons, and never seek their peace or their prosperity, that you may be strong and eat the good things of the land and leave it as an inheritance to your sons forever.’

“After all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and our great guilt, since You our God have requited us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us an escaped remnant as this,

shall we again break Your commandments and intermarry with the peoples who commit these abominations? Would You not be angry with us to the point of destruction, until there is no remnant nor any who escape?

“O LORD God of Israel, You are righteous, for we have been left an escaped remnant, as it is this day; behold, we are before You in our guilt,
for no one can stand before You because of this.”

The Word: Episode 1282 Daniel 9:1-19

“I Prayed to the Lord My God…”

May 7, 2020

“I Prayed to the Lord My God…”

Blessings folk!

Today is the National Day of Prayer in the united States of America.

With this in mind, let us read/pray a prayer for a nation that we find in the Word.

Give heed to:
  • How Daniel speaks of God
  • How Daniel acknowledges the sin and rebellion of his people…and himself
  • How Daniel cries before the Lord

Then, pray in like manner.
Let just do so before the end of the day…

 Dan 9:1-19

In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of Median descent,
who was made king over the kingdom of the Chaldeans—

in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel,
observed in the books the number of the years which was revealed as the word of the LORD to Jeremiah the prophet for the completion of the desolations of Jerusalem,
namely, seventy years.

So I [fn]gave my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications,
with fasting, sackcloth and ashes.

I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed and said,
“Alas, O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments,

we have sinned, committed iniquity, acted wickedly and rebelled,
even turning aside from Your commandments and ordinances.

“Moreover, we have not listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, our princes, our fathers and all the people of the land.

“Righteousness belongs to You, O Lord, but to us open shame, as it is this day—to the men of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, those who are nearby and those who are far away in all the countries to which You have driven them, because of their unfaithful deeds which they have committed against You.

“Open shame belongs to us, O LORD, to our kings, our princes and our fathers,
because we have sinned against You.

“To the Lord our God belong compassion and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against Him;

nor have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in His teachings which He set before us through His servants the prophets.

“Indeed all Israel has transgressed Your law and turned aside, not obeying Your voice; so the curse has been poured out on us, along with the oath which is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, for we have sinned against Him.

“Thus He has confirmed His words which He had spoken against us and against our rulers who ruled us, to bring on us great calamity; for under the whole heaven there has not been done anything like what was done to Jerusalem.

“As it is written in the law of Moses, all this calamity has come on us; yet we have not sought the favor of the LORD our God by turning from our iniquity and giving attention to Your truth.

“Therefore the LORD has kept the calamity in store and brought it on us;
for the LORD our God is righteous with respect to all His deeds which He has done,
but we have not obeyed His voice.

“And now, O Lord our God, who have brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and have made a name for Yourself, as it is this day—
we have sinned, we have been wicked.

“O Lord, in accordance with all Your righteous acts, let now Your anger and Your wrath turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; for because of our sins and the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people have become a reproach to all those around us.

“So now, our God, listen to the prayer of Your servant and to his supplications,
and for Your sake, O Lord, let Your face shine on Your desolate sanctuary.

“O my God, incline Your ear and hear! Open Your eyes and see our desolations and the city which is called by Your name; for we are not presenting our supplications before You on account of any merits of our own, but on account of Your great compassion.

“O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and take action! For Your own sake, O my God, do not delay, because Your city and Your people are called by Your name.”

“He Keeps Faith Forever”

May 6, 2020

“He Keeps Faith Forever”

Blessings folk!

Fear not!

Read theses verses from Psalm 146.

Note what we as Believers are to do.
In what/who do we trust?
What does the Lord do?

Psa 146:1-7

Praise the LORD!
Praise the LORD, O my soul!

I will praise the LORD while I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

Do not trust in princes,
In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation.

His spirit departs, he returns to the earth;
In that very day his thoughts perish.

How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
Whose hope is in the LORD his God,

Who made heaven and earth,
The sea and all that is in them;
Who keeps faith forever;

Who executes justice for the oppressed;
Who gives food to the hungry.
The LORD sets the prisoners free.

We are to praise the Lord.
To praise Him with our soul.
Praise Him while we live….while we have our being.

Do not trust in princes.
Do not trust in mortal man. Too many of the supposed “church” trust more in man than the Lord.
Just listen to what they say…”the Guvnuh says…the CDC says…”

Our help is in the Lord.
We are therefore blessed!

Our hope is in the Lord.
The Lord who keeps faith forever.

Again, He keeps faith forever.

Live in that faith.
Not in fear.

The Lord will execute justice.
The Lord will provide.
The Lord will feed.
The Lord will set free!

“Who Will Not Fear…”

May 5, 2020

“Who Will Not Fear…”

Blessings folk!

Fear not!

Fear the Lord!

A day is coming when all will fear the Most High God…

Rev 15:1-4

Then I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels who had seven plagues, which are the last, because in them the wrath of God is finished.

And I saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire,
and those who had been victorious over the beast and his image and the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass,
holding harps of God.

And they sang the song of Moses,
the bond-servant of God,
and the song of the Lamb, saying,
“Great and marvelous are Your works,
O Lord God, the Almighty;
Righteous and true are Your ways,
King of the nations!

“Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify Your name?
For You alone are holy;
For ALL THE NATIONS WILL COME AND WORSHIP BEFORE YOU,
FOR YOUR RIGHTEOUS ACTS HAVE BEEN REVEALED.”

The Righteous acts of the Lord will be revealed.
All the nations will come and worship the Lord.
All will fear the Lord.

The Lord!
The Great One!
Marvelous of works!
The Almighty!
The Righteous One!
The One True in His ways!
King of the nations!

This is Whose we are.
This is Who we worship.
This is Who we fear.

Not man.
Not situation.
Not circumstances.
Not the power of the heavenly realm

The Lord and He alone.

Fear not!

Live by faith in the Lord.

“Be Faithful Until Death”

May 4, 2020

“Be Faithful Until Death”

Blessings folk!

Believers!
Do not fear!
Be bold!
Be strong!
Be courageous!

But, some might say, “what if I’m threatened with physical harm…death…etc?”

Hear what the Lord says to the church a Smyrna.
Note that unlike most of the other churches addressed in Revelation 2-3, the Lord brings no corrective Word to Smyrna…

Rev 2:8-11

“And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write:
The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life, says this:

‘I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich),
and the blasphemy by those who say they are Jews and are not,
but are a synagogue of Satan.

‘Do not fear what you are about to suffer.
Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison,
so that you will be tested,
and you will have tribulation for ten days.
Be faithful until death,
and I will give you the crown of life.

‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
He who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death.’

The Lord instructs then to not fear.
Even though they were undergoing tribulation,.
Even though they experienced poverty.
Even though they were the subject of blasphemy…of course, by religious rulers.
Even though they were about to suffer more.
Even though the devil was about to cast some of them into prison.
Even though they would be tested.

The Lord tells them to be faithful…until death.
Some would die in the midst of all this.

Still, fear not!
Still, be faithful!

The outcome?

The Lord will give the crown of life.

Listen to what the Spirit is saying

Do not fear!

Overcome!
Be an overcomer in the Lord!
He has empowered you to do so in such a time as this.

Oh, and this is nothing compared to that which is yet to come…be it in the near or distant future…

“The Work of His Good Pleasure”

May 3, 2020

“The Work of His Good Pleasure”

Blessings folk!

Believers!
Fear not!
Live by faith!
“Work out”…live out the salvation and faith that we have though the mercy of the Most High God.

Heed…

Phl 2:12-13

So then, my beloved,
just as you have always obeyed,
not as in my presence only,
but now much more in my absence,
work out your salvation with fear and trembling;

for it is God who is at work in you,
both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

We are called to “work out your salvation with fear and trembling…”

This speaks of living out the life of faith/belief/salvation with fear and trembling before the Lord.

We do not fear man.
We do not fear the enemy.
We fear the Lord…reverential awe, an understanding that we are accountable to the Lord, profound reverence, respect, dread (Zodiahtes)

We are “working out our salvation” knowing that it is God who is at work in us.

Think on that.

It is not us “working to attain/maintain” salvation.
It is us doing the work that the Lord is doing within us.

It is His work.
According to His will.
For His good pleasure.

We simply join in doing that which He desires and is doing.

“Confidence”

May 2, 2020

“Confidence”

Blessings folk!

Fear not!
Faith!

Believers are not to live in fear.
We are to live in faith.

Anything else is idolatry.
Witchcraft.
Yep!

Read…

1Jo 5:13-15

These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God,
so that you may know that you have eternal life.

This is the confidence which we have before Him, that,
if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask,
we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

In what do you have “confidence”?
Fear reflects confidence/trust in something other than the Most High God.

If we place our confidence in Him, then, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us and we “have the requests which we asked from Him.”

Note the details.
- Confidence in Him…not us…not situation…not circumstance.
- Ask according to His will…not our will…not our wants, desires, pleasures, etc.

  • He hears when we ask according to His will
  • He grants our requests because we are asking within/motivated by His will

In other words, we hear what He wants and pray/request based upon that.

But, one might say, “why even pray since God already knows?”

Prayer is communion.
Prayer is communication.
Prayer is God informing us…not us informing God.
Prayer is us seeking the will of God.

We will not clearly hear the will of God if we are praying from a position of fear.
Pray by faith in the midst of fearful things.
The Lord will hear.
