May 31, 2021

“Not In Words. In Power"

Blessings folk!

Paul had planned to visit the Body of Christ in Corinth.
He had yet to make it.
Some people were “becoming arrogant” thinking Paul was not returning.

Note what Paul says about how he would “prove” them.

1 Co 4:18-20
Now some have become arrogant, as though I were not coming to you.

But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I shall find out,
not the words of those who are arrogant, but their power

For the kingdom of God is not in words, but in power

Power!

This Kingdom of God is Power!

Not words!

Many are the words of the professing.

What is their power?

Know this.
Remember this.
The Kingdom of God is not in words.
The Kingdom of God is in Power!

Now, what does that mean…?

“…But On the Power of God”

May 30, 2021

“…But On the Power of God”

Blessings folk!

The contemporary western church is in dire need.
Need of the power of the Kingdom of God.

We have made so many errors.
We continue to resist God and embrace man.

Read these verses.
We have read them before.
Now, read with the Spirit.

1 Co 2:1-5

And when I came to you, brothers and sisters, I did not come as someone superior in speaking ability or wisdom,
as I proclaimed to you the testimony of God

For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified

I also was with you in weakness and fear, and in great trembling

and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom,
but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power

so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of mankind, but on the power of God

The “church” has had enough of those “superior in speaking ability”.
The “church” has had enough of those “superior in wisdom”?

The world/church needs those who proclaim the testimony of God.
The testimony of Christ and Him crucified.

Paul came…
- in weakness
- in fear
- in great trembling
- with a message
- preaching, not in persuasive words of wisdom
- in demonstration of the Spirit and of Power

Why?

So that their faith would be a true faith.
A faith resting on the power of God, not the wisdom of man.
The world/church needs demonstrations of the Spirit and the Power of God.
As a True Believer, are you willing to be such a vessel?

It is time to reject the wisdom and strategies of man.
It is time to move in the Power of God.

“Boast In the Lord”

May 29, 2021

“Boast In the Lord”

Blessings folk!

No human (flesh) can boast of anything before God.

The Lord tells us.

Read the entire passage again, giving special attention to the last portion.

1 Co 1:26-31

For consider your calling, brothers and sisters, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble

but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong

and the insignificant things of the world and the despised God has chosen,
the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are,

so that no human may boast before God

But it is due to Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God,
and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption

so that, just as it is written: “LET THE ONE WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD.”

It is only by the Most High God that true Believers are “in Christ Jesus”
It is “nothing that we did”.
All Him!

Christ became to us…
- wisdom from God
- righteousness
- sanctification
- redemption

All through Jesus Christ.
All to us.

Therefore, boast not in self, rather boast in the Lord!

“Churches” hear this.

Cease the foolish language and thoughts of “our church”, “getting people to come to us”, etc. etc.

Rather, boast in the Lord.
Then watch what the Lord does.

Have nothing to boast?
Be saved!
Today is the day of salvation!

May 28, 2021

“God Has Chosen”

Blessings folk!

Have you been considering your calling as a true believer?

Resist the lie of the enemy.
He will try to deceive you as to who you are in the Lord.

Read the following.
Give close attention to who God chose and why God chose.

1 Co 1:26-28

For consider your calling, brothers and sisters,
that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble

but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise,
and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong

and the insignificant things of the world and the despised God has chosen,
the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are,

God chose the foolish things of the world - to shame the wise.

God chose the weak things of the world - to shame the things that are strong.

God chose the insignificant things of the world…
God chose the despised things of the world…
God chose things that are not…
So that He may nullify that things that are.

Whoa!!
Think closely on all that.

God chooses who/what He wants for His purposes.

The world sees foolishness, weakness, insignificance.
God see strength, power, purpose.

God sees that which can be from that which is not.

What does He see within each of us?
Will we be vessels of His power?

“Consider Your Calling”

May 27, 2021

“Consider Your Calling”

Blessings folk!

Let us read and rejoice through this portion of the Word slowly…so much here…

1 Co 1:26
For consider your calling, brothers and sisters,
that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble…

The Spirit is leading Paul to write to the Body of Believers at Corinth.
He is telling them some profound truths about “who they are”.

Note, he calls them brothers and sisters.
They were true Believers.
They were all OneAnother within the Kingdom.

Then this.
They were called.
They each and every one had a “calling”.
The Lord had purpose for each one within the Kingdom.

Paul exhorted them to consider this.
We should also consider.
We are brothers and sisters.
We are called.
What does that mean as to how we should live?

Then Paul acknowledges the “pink elephant in the room”.
Not many of them were “wise according to the flesh”.
Not many of them were “mighty”.
Not may were “noble”.

In other words, they were average folk.
They were not the elite of man’s mind.
They were folk like us.

We will see more as to why the Lord was saying this.

For now, consider these truths.

Consider the fact that you are a true brother and sister…if you are truly saved.
If you are a false believer, then repent and be saved.

Consider the calling the Lord has placed on you.
Each believer is called.
Then, live the calling…

“Christ Crucified, the Power of God”

May 25, 2021

“Christ Crucified, the Power of God”

Blessings folk!

The power of God.

The true church must live and manifest the Power of God.

Days are quickly coming when God’s Power will “be the only choice”.

I will not get into details now as to what I think might be yet to occur.

Know this.

God heals.
God restores.
God can fix anything.
Even mistakes.

Are we prepared?
Are we ready to be the vessels of the Lord?
Are we anticipating being used by him in whatever He desires?

Yes, the world believes that those of true faith are foolish.
Yes, the world believes it does not need God.

Know this, the day is coming when this will all change.
A day is coming, and now is, when true salvation and rescue will be found in the message of the gospel proclaimed through the Church.

1Co 1:22-25
For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom

but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block, and to Gentiles foolishness

but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks,
Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God

For the foolishness of God is wiser than mankind,
and the weakness of God is stronger than mankind.

Choose the power of God!

“The Power of God"

May 24, 2021

“The Power of God"

Blessings folk!

The “western” church is basically powerless.
Seriously.

We are fools.

Let’s look at what the Lord says.

Read the following giving close attention to the “power of God”.

1 Co 1:18-24

For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

For it is written:
“I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE,
AND THE UNDERSTANDING OF THOSE WHO HAVE UNDERSTANDING, I WILL CONFOUND.”

Where is the wise person?
Where is the scribe?
Where is the debater of this age?
Has God not made foolish the wisdom of the world?

For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom;

but we preach Christ crucified,
to Jews a stumbling block,
and to Gentiles foolishness,

but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks,
Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

The good news - the gospel - of the cross is the power of God unto salvation.
Those who believe shall be saved.

Christ is the power of God.
Christ is the wisdom of God.

Give close heed.
Listen.

Where are those who are seeking the power of God?
Where are those that are teaching/preaching/living the power of God?

They are few.

Most are trying to “do something” for the Lord.

They do all sorts of man-made/designed endeavors, yet continually deny the instruction of the Lord.

Stop it!

Seek the Lord!
Do as He has instructed.
Know who we are as OneAnother in Him.
Know what we are to do as OneAnother.
Then do it.

Reject the foolish, time-wasting strategies of man.
Embrace the freeing liberty of Kingdom-Life in the Lord.

“Lord! Look!”

Blessings folk!

David was in trouble.

He was crying out to the Lord.

Read the rest of his cry…

Psa 25:19-22

Look at my enemies, for they are many,
And they hate me with violent hatred.

Guard my soul and save me;
Do not let me be ashamed, for I take refuge in You.

Let integrity and uprightness protect me,
For I wait for You.

Redeem Israel, God,
From all his distress.

David had many enemies.
They hated him.
They hated him with violent hatred.
They wanted to do him violence.

David called for the Lord to…
- Guard his soul
- Save him
- Protect him

David…
- Did not want to be ashamed
- Took refuge in the Lord
- Relied upon integrity and uprightness to protect him
- Waited for the Lord

David finished with a call for God to redeem Israel from all his distress.

A worthy prayer for all of us.

Have you ever cried out to God?
Do you do so regularly?

If so, you are in good company.

Calling upon the Lord is not “bothering” God.
He is “un-bother-able”.
There is no limit to Him…in any way.
In compassion.
In grace.
In mercy.
In power.

Hear the words of David…

Psa 25:16-18
Turn to me and be gracious to me,
For I am lonely and afflicted.

The troubles of my heart are enlarged;
Bring me out of my distresses.

Look at my misery and my trouble,
And forgive all my sins.

David asks of the Lord several things…
- Turn to me
- Be gracious to me
- Bring me out of my distresses
- Look at my misery
- Look at my trouble
- Forgive all my sins

Why does David ask?
- He is lonely
- He is afflicted
- The troubles of his heart are enlarged
- He is distressed
- He is miserable
- He is in trouble

Well, there you go.
If David called upon the Lord during such times, so should we!

“Fear?”

Blessings folk!

What do you fear?
Do you fear the present?
Do you fear the future?
Do you fear the traps of the enemy?
Do you fear that which you do not know?

Hear the Word of the Lord!

We are to fear the Lord and He alone.

Read what that will bring!

Psa 25:12-15

Who is the man who fears the LORD?
He will instruct him in the way he should choose.

His soul will abide in prosperity,
And his descendants will inherit the land.

The secret of the LORD is for those who fear Him,
And He will make them know His covenant.

My eyes are continually toward the LORD,
For He will pluck my feet out of the net.

If we fear the Lord…
- He will instruct us in the way to choose
- We will abide in prosperity (good)
- Our descendants will inherit the land
- The secret of the Lord will be made known
- He will make us know His covenant
- Our eyes will be continually toward the Lord
- He will “pluck my feet out of the net”…He will rescue us!

Therefore, fear the Lord alone.
Fear not man.
Fear not circumstance
Any fear, other than the fear of the Lord, is idolatry.

“Good and Upright Paths”

Blessings folk!

Know this!
Forget not!
The Lord is Good!
The Lord is Upright!
Because of this, the Lord instructs sinners in the way that they should go.

Psa 25:8
Good and upright is the LORD;
Therefore He instructs sinners in the way.

The Lord leads the humble (afflicted) in the way of justice.
The Lord teaches the humble (afflicted) about His ways.

Psa 25:9
He leads the humble in justice,
And He teaches the humble His way.

All the paths of the Lord…all He does…are lovingkindness and truth…to those who keep His testimonies and covenant.

Psa 25:10
All the paths of the LORD are lovingkindness and truth
To those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.

What was David’s response to all this that he has written?

Psa 25:11
For Your name’s sake, O LORD,
Pardon my iniquity, for it is great.

He asked for pardon.
He acknowledged his great guilt.
He asked to Lord to do so for His name’s sake, not for David’s sake.

To remember His compassion.

To remember HIs lovingkindness.

Compassion and lovingkindness from old…from long ago.

David then ask the Lord to “not remember”.

“Teach me…”
“Lead me…”

David wanted the Lord to “make me know” His ways!

David wanted the Lord to “teach me”
- Teach him the Lord’s paths
- Teach him the Lord’s truth

David want the Lord “to lead me” in truth.

Why?

Because God was/is the God of his salvation.
The Lord is the God of our salvation.

“To You. In You"

May 17, 2021

“To You. In You"

Blessings folk!

Let us look at another Psalm of David.
David is speaking to Father.

Psa 25:1-3
A Psalm of David.
To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul.

O my God, in You I trust,
Do not let me be ashamed;
Do not let my enemies exult over me.

Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed;
Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed.

David was lifting his soul…his emotions, his being…to the Lord.
To Whom do we lift our soul?

David declares that he trusts in the Lord.
In Whom do we trust?

To/In the Lord.
To/In You.

David asked for the Lord’s protection from his enemies.
In Whom do we trust for protection?

David asked that he would not be ashamed before His enemies?
Do we do likewise?

Then these great truths!

None who wait upon the Lord will be ashamed.
Do we wait upon the Lord?
Do we “run ahead” of the Lord?

Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed.
Do we do so?
Is there a time to deal treacherously with cause?
Oh yeah, we just saw it with the battle tactics of Israel vs. Hamas.

Wait for the Lord.
Be not ashamed!

David continues with Psalm 37.

Now, one of my favorite verses…

Psa 37:25-26

I have been young and now I am old,
Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken
Or his descendants begging for bread.

All day long he is gracious and lends,
And his descendants are a blessing.

David is stating an observation from his experience.
He had been young.
He was now hold.
He had never seen the righteous forsaken by God.
He had never seen the descendants of the righteous begging for bread.

David is saying that the Lord takes care of the righteous.
He had seen it.
He had experienced it.

David tells us more about the righteous.
They are gracious…all day long.
They lend…all day long.
They are a blessing…all day long.

The righteous do not cling to the blessing of God with a clinched fist.
Rather, the righteous give graciously.

Psa 37:23
The steps of a man are established by the LORD,
And He delights in his way.
NASB

This translation tells us that the steps of a man are established by the Lord.
All men?
All steps?

It also tells us that God (He) delights in the way of such a man.

This is a great example of “capitalization as commentary”.

Look as some other English translations.

Psa 37:23
The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
KJV

The word “good” is added to help understanding.
It guides us a particular way.
In the last phrase, who is “he/his”?
“Who” is delighting in “who’s” way?

Psa 37:23
The steps of a man are established by the LORD,
when he delights in his way;
ESV

Notice that in the ESV the verse is a phrase, not a complete sentence.
There is more thought to consider.
Again, who is delighting in whose way?

Psa 37:23
23  The steps of a man are established by Yahweh,
and he takes pleasure in his way.
LEXHAM

The Lexham translation tells us that someone is taking pleasure in the way of someone.

So, what is being said.

I think it is a conflation of all the thoughts.

A good man, a man that is established in the Lord, is a delight to the Lord.
A good man, a man that delights in the Lord, is a pleasure to the Lord.
A good man, a man that follows the steps of the Lord, delights in the way of the Lord and the Lord delights in his way.

Are we good men?

“Wicked/Righteous”

May 7, 2021

“Wicked/Righteous”

Blessings folk!

We continue in Psalm 37.

Such a difference between the righteous and the evil!

Psa 37:21-22

The wicked borrows and does not pay back,
But the righteous is gracious and gives.

For those blessed by Him will inherit the land,
But those cursed by Him will be eliminated.

The wicked borrows.
The wicked does pay back.

The righteous are gracious.
They give.

Those blessed by God will inherit the land.
Think on that.

Who are those who are blessed by God?
Those who believe.
Those who trust in Him.

Is this speaking of now…this corporeal existence…or later?
Yes!

There is a “land” that the Lord has for each of us to inherit in this life of belief.
Do we walk in it?
Do we believe?

There is a “land” that is yet to come that we will inherit for all eternity.

Those cursed by the Lord will be eliminated.
Whoa!
They will not inherit…especially later.
They will “inherit” the lake of fire.

Be certain of your choice.

“Not Ashamed!"

May 6, 2021

“Not Ashamed!"

Blessings folk!

The Lord knows the days of the blameless.

He knows us.
He knows our needs.
He takes care of us.

Psa 37:18-20

The LORD knows the days of the blameless,
And their inheritance will be forever.

They will not be ashamed in the time of evil,
And in the days of famine they will have plenty.

But the wicked will perish;
And the enemies of the LORD will be like the glory of the pastures,
They vanish—like smoke they vanish away.

In the time of evil the righteous/blameless will not be ashamed.
They will have provision.
Even in the days of famine they will not have plenty…not just some…plenty!

The wicked?
They will perish.

The enemies of the Lord?
Like the glory of the pasture.
What a great picture!
Here one moment.
Gone the next.
Vanished.
Like smoke.

Therefore, fear not.
Fret not.

Walk in the holiness of the Lord.

“The Lord Knows…”

May 5, 2021

“The Lord Knows…”

Blessings folk!

The Lord knows.

He knows our situation.

He knows our circumstances.

Better yet, He knows the plan that He has for us…

Jer 29:11
‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD,
‘plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

The Lord knows what the wicked are doing.

He will deal with them…in His time.

Meanwhile, remember…

Psa 37:16-18

Better is the little of the righteous
Than the abundance of many wicked.

For the arms of the wicked will be broken,
But the LORD sustains the righteous.

The LORD knows the days of the blameless,
And their inheritance will be forever.

The arms of the wicked will be broken…at the hand of the Lord.

What about the righteous?

The Lord sustains the righteous.
The Lord knows the days of the blameless/righteous.
The inheritance of the righteous will be forever.
All at the hand of the Lord.

Fear not!
Live as the righteous and holy person that you are as a true Believer.
The Lord knows…

“Better Than Abundance”

May 4, 2021

“Better Than Abundance”

Blessings folk!

Fear not the wicked!

Pursue righteousness and holiness!

The Lord knows.
His eyes are upon us.

Hear the Word of the Psalmist…

Psa 37:16

Better is the little of the righteous
Than the abundance of many wicked.

Righteousness is better than wickedness.
Duh!

It is better to be righteous and have little than to be wicked and have abundance.

This is not saying that one can not have abundance and be righteous.

Most of us, at this moment, have more abundance than most of mankind has ever had.

The issue is of the heart.

Are you pursuing righteousness?
Or, are you envious of the wicked and being tempted to pursue abundance that way?

Allow the Spirit to search your heart.

“The Lord Laughs…”

May 2, 2021

“The Lord Laughs…”

Blessings folk!

No doubt, the wicked plot evil against the righteous.

We see it everywhere today.

You can see it in their eyes.

Fear not!

Hear the Word of the Lord…

Psa 37:12-13

The wicked plots against the righteous,
And gnashes at him with his teeth.

The Lord laughs at him,
For He sees that his day is coming.

The wicked “gnash at him with his teeth” related to the righteous.

They hate righteousness.
They hate the righteous.

The response of the Lord?
He laughs at the wicked.
The Lord knows that the wicked will be judged.
The day of the wicked is coming.
The Day of the Lord is coming

Rest in the Lord.
He has this…

“Yet A Little While…”

May 1, 2021

“Yet A Little While…”

Blessings folk!

Be patient!

Be holy!

Be the Vessel and Presence of the Most High God.

Trust His timing.

Trust His heart.

He knows all things.
Remember that.

Psa 37:10-11

Yet a little while and the wicked person will be no more;
And you will look carefully for his place and he will not be there.

But the humble will inherit the land
And will delight themselves in abundant prosperity.

The wicked will pass, in a little while.

But us?

Be humble.

We will inherit the land.

We will delight ourselves in abundant prosperity.

The prosperity of the Lord.
The Word says much about it.

Rejoice in the Lord.
Walk humbly before Him and OneAnother.
