The Word: Episode 1245 Joshua 10:6-14

“Death By Hailstone”

March 31, 2020

“Death By Hailstone”

Blessings folk!

Do not fear!
Are you fearing less?
The Word will help you.
Read/listen.
Allow the Lord to apply the truths to your heart.

“Do not fear” appears two more times in the book of Joshua (see previous posts).

Once the Lord says it.
Once Joshua says it.

The entire account is well worth reading.

But first, think on this.

What might the Lord do if we “fear not”?
We know He will fight for us.
How?
Could/would He attack an enemy with hailstones?
Could/would He stop the sun so that we would have enough daylight for total victory?

Jos 10:6-11

Then the men of Gibeon sent word to Joshua to the camp at Gilgal, saying,
“Do not abandon your servants; come up to us quickly and save us and help us,
for all the kings of the Amorites that live in the hill country have assembled against us.”

So Joshua went up from Gilgal,
he and all the people of war with him and all the valiant warriors.

The LORD said to Joshua,
“Do not fear them, for I have given them into your hands;
not one of them shall stand before you.”

So Joshua came upon them suddenly by marching all night from Gilgal.

And the LORD confounded them before Israel,
and He slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and pursued them by the way of the ascent of Beth-horon and struck them as far as Azekah and Makkedah.

As they fled from before Israel, while they were at the descent of Beth-horon,
the LORD threw large stones from heaven on them as far as Azekah, and they died;
there were more who died from the hailstones than those
whom the sons of Israel killed with the sword.

The men of Gibeon needed help.
The Amorite kings were coming against them.

The Lord told Joshua to go.
The Lord told him that they would be victorious.
The Lord told him that He would give them into his hands.

So Joshua went.
They marched all night.

What happened?

The Lord confounded the enemy.
He killed them with a great slaughter.
Israel pursued them as they fled.

Some were getting away.

The Lord took care of it.
He threw large stones, hailstones, from heaven.
More died from the hailstones than from the Israelite swords.

The Lord will do battle for us.
He uses what He wants…even things in the “natural”.
Do not fear.
Trust.

The Word: Episode 1244 Joshua 8:1-2

“The Lord Will Give It Into Your Hands”

March 30, 2020

“The Lord Will Give It Into Your Hands”

Blessings folk!

Do not fear!

A true believer is not to live consumed with fear and anxiety.

Do not fall for this trap of the evil one.

The Lord told Joshua several times to “not fear”.

Look at this one…

Joshua 8:1

Now the LORD said to Joshua,
“Do not fear or be dismayed.
Take all the people of war with you and arise, go up to Ai;
see, I have given into your hand the king of Ai, his people, his city, and his land.

“You shall do to Ai and its king just as you did to Jericho and its king;
you shall take only its spoil and its cattle as plunder for yourselves.
Set an ambush for the city behind it.”

The Lord was giving Joshua instruction and encouragement.

Why would Joshua have feared Ai?
The Lord tells him to do as they did with Jericho.

Does this mean to march around?
Joshua knew the great victory they had there.

So, why fear?

The previous chapter tells us.

They had already gone up against Ai once.
They were defeated!

Why?

Firstly, pride/hubris/arrogance.
They started believing that they were the source of the victory…

Jos 7:2-3
Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is near Beth-aven, east of Bethel, and said to them, “Go up and spy out the land.”
So the men went up and spied out Ai.

They returned to Joshua and said to him,
“Do not let all the people go up; only about two or three thousand men need go up to Ai;
do not make all the people toil up there, for they are few.”

The spies said “we don’t need all the men”…we can defeat with little.

Note the Lord now tells them to take all the people of war.
We have the same picture today.
We need the fullness of the Body of Christ for the battle we are in.

Then, secondly…and more importantly…the people of the Lord had been unfaithful related to the things that the Lord had banned.

Joshua 7:1
But the sons of Israel acted unfaithfully in regard to the things under the ban, for Achan,
the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, from the tribe of Judah, took some of the things under the ban, therefore the anger of the LORD burned against the sons of Israel.

(Read chapter 7 if you are unfamiliar/do not remember what occurred.)

One person had been unfaithful.
One family paid the price.
One people were defeated because of it.

Think on that.

Now, we know why Joshua might have been reticent as to Ai.

But the Lord tells him that he would be victorious.

Have you failed at something?
Is the Lord telling you to “try again”?
Be faithful and obedient in His power.

Fear not.
Do it.
The Lord will give it into your hands.

The Word: Episode 1243 Joshua 1:9-10

“We Will Obey You”

March 29, 2020

“We Will Obey You”

Blessings folk!

Yesterday we saw that the Lord told Joshua three times to “be strong and very courageous”.

Thus is the word for us.

Read the balance of Joshua 1.

He is told the same thing again, but this time by the people.

Joshua reminded the people what the Lord said.
They agreed to follow Joshua as they did Moses…this might have given pause to Joshua. Happy

Note what they say at the end.

Jos 1:10-18

Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

“Pass through the midst of the camp and command the people, saying,
‘Prepare provisions for yourselves, for within three days you are to cross this Jordan,
to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God is giving you, to possess it.’”

To the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said,

“Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying,
‘The LORD your God gives you rest and will give you this land.’

“Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle shall remain in the land which Moses gave you beyond the Jordan, but you shall cross before your brothers in battle array, all your valiant warriors, and shall help them,

until the LORD gives your brothers rest, as He gives you, and they also possess the land which the LORD your God is giving them. Then you shall return to your own land, and possess that which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you beyond the Jordan toward the sunrise.”

They answered Joshua, saying,
“All that you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.

“Just as we obeyed Moses in all things, so we will obey you;
only may the LORD your God be with you as He was with Moses.

“Anyone who rebels against your command and does not obey your words in all that you command him, shall be put to death; only be strong and courageous.”

They called upon Joshua to be strong and courageous.
They agreed to follow his commands.
They agreed to obey his words.
Anyone who rebelled would be put to death.

Folk, the Lord empowers true believers to be strong and courageous.
We choose whether to walk in it or not.

What do you choose?

The Word: Episode 1242 Joshua 1:1-9

“Be Strong and Very Courageous”

March 28, 2020

“Be Strong and Very Courageous”

Blessings folk!

Do not fear!
Do not tremble!
Do not be dismayed!

It is one thing to state “what not to do”.
What should we do?

The Lord gives us many examples in the Word.

Joshua is a very familiar one.

Moses had died.
Joshua in now leader.

Read what the Lord says to him…

Jos 1:1-9

Now it came about after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD,
that the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ servant, saying,

“Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this people,
to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel.

“Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you,
just as I spoke to Moses.

“From the wilderness and this Lebanon, even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates,
all the land of the Hittites, and as far as the Great Sea toward the setting of the sun will be your territory.

“No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life.
Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you.

“Be strong and courageous,
for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.

“Only be strong and very courageous;
be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you;
do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go.

“This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth,
but you shall meditate on it day and night,
so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it;
for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.

“Have I not commanded you?
Be strong and courageous!
Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

The Lord told Joshua that:

  • He would be with Him as He was with Moses
  • That no man would be able to stand before him all the days of his life

The Lord then commanded/instructed:
  • Be strong
  • Be courageous
  • Do all in the Law…carefully
  • Do not turn from the Law…to the right or left
  • The Law shall not depart from his mouth…in other words, speak anything else other
  • Meditate upon the Law day and night
  • Be careful to do all in the Law

The Lord then tells the outcome if Joshua does this:
  • Way prosperous
  • Have success
  • Strength
  • Courage

As with Joshua, the Lord is with every Believer wherever we go.
Mediate upon His Word.
Speak His Word.
The Strength of the Lord will manifest in you.
The Courage of the Lord will move in power.

The Word brings strength and courage.
Strength and courage will overwhelm fear and dismay.

Believers, the very Presence and Power of the Most High to the world…

The Word: Episode 1241 Exodus 20:1-21

“Land. Beast. Do Not Fear”

March 27, 2020

“Land. Beast. Do Not Fear”

Blessings folk!

Fear not!
Be not dismayed!
Trust in the Lord!
Rejoice in the Lord!

The prophet Joel speaks to this.
Joel’s words are interesting.
They have a near future application.
They have a distant future application.
Most of the prophets were like this.

Read this passage.

Note that it is not just “people” who fear…

Joe 2:18-23
Then the LORD will be zealous for His land
And will have pity on His people.

The LORD will answer and say to His people,
“Behold, I am going to send you grain, new wine and oil,
And you will be satisfied in full with them;
And I will never again make you a reproach among the nations.

“But I will remove the northern army far from you,
And I will drive it into a parched and desolate land,
And its vanguard into the eastern sea,
And its rear guard into the western sea.
And its stench will arise and its foul smell will come up,
For it has done great things.”

Do not fear, O land, rejoice and be glad,
For the LORD has done great things.

Do not fear, beasts of the field,
For the pastures of the wilderness have turned green,
For the tree has borne its fruit,
The fig tree and the vine have yielded in full.

So rejoice, O sons of Zion,
And be glad in the LORD your God;
For He has given you the early rain for your vindication.
And He has poured down for you the rain,
The early and latter rain as before.

The Land is told to not fear.
To rejoice.
To be glad.
For the Lord has done great things.
For the Lord will answer the cry of His people.
The Lord will send grain, new wine, oil.
The people and the land will never be reproach among the nations - which makes me think this is yet to be fulfilled.

Then this.

Do not fear, beasts of the field.
Pastures and trees will yield fruit.

The Lord will have pity on His people.

Therefore,
Do not fear, O land.
Do not fear, beasts of the field.
Rejoice, sons of Zion!
Be glad in the Lord.
He will pour forth the early and the latter rain!

“I AM With You…”

March 26, 2020

“I AM With You…”

Blessings folk!

Fear not!

Do you ever wonder about the future?
Duh…
Do you ever wonder about today?

Be not dismayed.
Do not fear.

The great men/women of old experienced the same.

The Lord said the same to them.

Fear not!

Isaac wondered.

Hear the Word of the Lord to him…

Gen 26:23-25

Then he went up from there to Beersheba.

The LORD appeared to him the same night and said,
“I am the God of your father Abraham;
Do not fear, for I am with you.
I will bless you, and multiply your descendants,
For the sake of My servant Abraham.”

So he built an altar there and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there; and there Isaac’s servants dug a well.

The Lord reminded Isaac…

  • That He is the God of his father Abraham
  • That He is with him
  • That He will bless him
  • That He will multiply his descendants
  • That He will do so for the sake of His servant Abraham…to honor his Word/covenant with him

Therefore, do not fear.

Isaac’s reaction.

He worshipped.
He built an altar.
He called upon the name of the Lord.
He pitched his tent there.
He dug a well.
He decided to stay.

May we stay in the Presence of the Lord.
Pitch your tent where He is.
Abide there.
Dwell there.
Fear not, the Lord is IN every true believer.
Step not out of His Presence and Power.

The Word: Episode 1239 Genesis 47:13-21

“Do Not Be Distressed…”

March 25, 2020

“Do Not Be Distressed…”

Blessings folk!

Do not be distressed…God said to Abraham.
Do not fear…God said to Hagar.

Read the account.

Abraham loved Ishmael.
Fathers love their children.

But, Ishmael mocked Isaac, and momma was not gonna put up with that.
Sarah had also had enough of Hagar’s attitude.

 Gen 21:9-21

Now Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking.

Therefore she said to Abraham,
“Drive out this maid and her son,
for the son of this maid shall not be an heir with my son Isaac.”

The matter distressed Abraham greatly because of his son.

But God said to Abraham,
“Do not be distressed because of the lad and your maid;
whatever Sarah tells you, listen to her, for through Isaac your descendants shall be named.

“And of the son of the maid I will make a nation also, because he is your descendant.”

So Abraham rose early in the morning and took bread and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar, putting them on her shoulder, and gave her the boy, and sent her away.
And she departed and wandered about in the wilderness of Beersheba.

When the water in the skin was used up, she left the boy under one of the bushes.

Then she went and sat down opposite him, about a bowshot away, for she said,
“Do not let me see the boy die.”
And she sat opposite him, and lifted up her voice and wept.

God heard the lad crying; and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What is the matter with you, Hagar?
Do not fear, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is.

“Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him by the hand, for I will make a great nation of him.”

Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water;
and she went and filled the skin with water and gave the lad a drink.

God was with the lad, and he grew; and he lived in the wilderness and became an archer.

He lived in the wilderness of Paran,
and his mother took a wife for him from the land of Egypt.

Sometimes God allows situations and circumstances to develop that provide the foundation for a great work.

Separation in this account allowed great nations to grow from two lines.
Ishmael the son.
Isaac the son, The Promise.

The Lord is doing the same today.

The Lord is thrusting Believers out of their comfortable “nests” into the true work of the Kingdom.

Difficult times are providing for a greater future for the Kingdom.

“I AM Your Shield”

Blessings folk!

To those who believe…
To those who have faith in the Lord…
Victory is proclaimed!

We have victory over all things through the Lord.

We especially have victory over fear.

“Fear” is a strategy of the evil one.
The Lord knows.
That is the reason that He tells us to “not fear”…says so hundreds of times in the Word.

Therefore, take in the Word of the Lord.
Heed it,
Fear not by His Power!

Gen 15:1
After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying,
“Do not fear, Abram,
I am a shield to you;
Your reward shall be very great.”

The same is said to those who truly believe.

The Lord is our shield.
His reward will be very great.

Manifest the Presence and Power of the Most High in all you do today.

He will bring the many to righteousness….

“God Will Come In Vengeance and Recompense”

“God Will Come In Vengeance and Recompense”

Blessings folk!

Remember this.
Never forget.

Isa 41:10
‘Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'

We are told many times in the Word to not fear.
Fear not the ways of man.
Fear not a situation/circumstance.
Fear the Lord.

The Lord knows that fear will seek to come against us.

In the flesh, we will fear.
Depend not upon the flesh.
Trust the Lord.
Rest in the Lord.
Rejoice in the Lord.
Know what the Word says about fear.
Be forewarned.
Be empowered.

Isa 35:4
Say to those with anxious heart,
“Take courage, fear not.
Behold, your God will come with vengeance;
The recompense of God will come,
But He will save you.”

Be not anxious of heart.
Take courage.
Fear not!

God will come in vengeance.
God will come in recompense of evil.
God will save us.

Therefore, fear not!

“Do Not Fear - He Is Able”

March 22, 2020

“Do Not Fear - He Is Able”

Blessings folk!

Remember the closing words of doxology in Jude’s brief letter…

Jude 1:24-25
Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling,
and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy,

to the only God our Savior,
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
be glory, majesty, dominion and authority,
before all time and now and forever. Amen.

The Lord is able.
To keep us from stumbling.
To make us stand in His Presence…His glory…blameless with great joy.

All glory belongs to Him.
All majesty.
All dominion.
All authority.
Before time.
Now.
Forever.

Therefore, do not fear!

Isa 41:10
‘Do not fear, for I am with you;
Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.'

Do not fear - God is with us.
Do not look anxiously about you…situation, circumstance…The Lord is our God.
He will strengthen.
He will help.
He will up hold us with His righteous right hand…His power.

We will be looking more at this command to “not fear”.
The Lord repeats it hundreds of times.

“Contend…”

March 20, 2020

“Contend…”

Blessings folk!

Remember why Jude wrote.

He wanted to speak of their common salvation…

Jude 1:3a
Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation,..

But, he felt compelled…by the Spirit as we glean…to write about another thing…

Jude 1:3b

I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints.

Jude appealed to them…and to us…to contend earnestly for the faith.

This is the call, especially today.

Sadly, the point of resistance in many of our lives is not in the world.
Most of us contend for the faith within the realm of “religion” and “the religious”.

So many who profess to be believers do not know the true faith.
They have been deceived.
They do not know the truth.
They reject the truth.
The leadership of such - religionists - ban the teaching/speaking of truth.

Seriously.
This is the norm in many “churches”.

Therefore, we are called.
Contend.
Earnestly.
For the faith.
Stand firm.
Know the truth.
Speak the truth.

“Mercy. Save”

Blessings folk!

Beloved!
Build ourselves up…by faith.
Pray…in the Spirit.
Keep…in the love of God.
Wait…for the mercy of the Lord.

These are the Words to us from the Lord through Jude in juxtaposition to the Creepers/Mockers.

Jude 1:20-21
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,

keep yourselves in the love of God,
waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.

Then, another intriguing instruction/command.

Jude 1:22-23
And have mercy on some, who are doubting;

save others, snatching them out of the fire;
and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.

We…true believers…are to…
- Have mercy on some - who are doubting
Doubting what?
That God loves them.
The faith.

  • Save others - snatching them out of the fire
Unbelievers
Believers who are in the fire
  • Have mercy with fear - hating even the garment polluted by the flesh
Those involved with levels of sin that we do not even want to touch their garments,
and yet, we are to have mercy, fearing the Lord.

Mercy!
Manifest mercy from the Lord!

Save them!
Manifest the saving power of the Lord.
Lead the many to righteousness.

“Devoid of the Spirit”

Blessings folk!

Remember, as a true believer, you are beloved of the Lord.

Remember, in the last days, mockers will come pursuing their ungodly lusts.

Now, learn more about the Mockers and the fruit of their mocking…

Jude 1:19
These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit.

Mockers cause divisions
Mockers are worldly-minded.
Mockers are devoid of the Spirit.

If one is “devoid of the Spirit”, then that means they are not in correct relation with God.

If one is not of the Spirit, then they are of the world.

They are not saved.

Many are the Mockers.

Creepers do the same.

They are not saved.

Many are the Creepers.

Beware.
Be forewarned.
Fear not.

The Word: Episode 1231 Psalm 91, 2 Chronicles 20 Prayer Time

April 17, 2018

“May the Lord Judge Between Us…”

Blessings folk!

David refused to stretch out his hand against the Lord’s anointed - king Saul.

David’s action of cutting away part of Saul’s robe pricked his conscience.

David now used the situation to provide evidence of his sincere heart toward the King…

1Sa 24:8-15

Now afterward David arose and went out of the cave and called after Saul, saying,
“My lord the king!” And when Saul looked behind him,
David bowed with his face to the ground and prostrated himself.

David said to Saul, “Why do you listen to the words of men, saying,
‘Behold, David seeks to harm you’?

“Behold, this day your eyes have seen that the LORD had given you today into my hand in the cave, and some said to kill you, but my eye had pity on you; and I said, ‘I will not stretch out my hand against my lord, for he is the LORD’S anointed.’

“Now, my father, see! Indeed, see the edge of your robe in my hand! For in that I cut off the edge of your robe and did not kill you, know and perceive that there is no evil or rebellion in my hands, and I have not sinned against you, though you are lying in wait for my life to take it.

“May the LORD judge between you and me, and may the LORD avenge me on you;
but my hand shall not be against you.

“As the proverb of the ancients says, ‘Out of the wicked comes forth wickedness’;
but my hand shall not be against you.

“After whom has the king of Israel come out? Whom are you pursuing?
A dead dog, a single flea?

“The LORD therefore be judge and decide between you and me;
and may He see and plead my cause and deliver me from your hand.”

David…

  • Calls Saul “lord’
  • Bows/prostrates himself before Saul
  • Questions why Saul is listening to bad counsel
  • Declares that Saul has nothing to fear from him
  • Reveals how the Lord had delivered Saul into his hand
  • Tells how he had pity on Saul
  • States that he would not hurt/kill Saul…though encouraged to do so
  • Called Saul “father”
  • Showed the evidence of how close Saul came to death..the cut edge of the robe
  • Testified that there was no evil or rebellion in his heart/hands toward Saul.
  • Called upon the Lord to be the judge between them
  • Rested in the Lord to avenge
  • Described himself as a dead dog, a flea…why would Saul pursue such?
  • Reiterated that he would allow the Lord to judge…to see…to plead his cause and the deliver him.

May we be as David when confronted by enemies.

“Mockers”

March 16, 2020

“Mockers”

Blessings folk!

Read again.

Jude 1:17-18

But you, beloved,
ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand
by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,

that they were saying to you,
“In the last time there will be mockers,
following after their own ungodly lusts.”

The Lord, through Jude, is telling us to remember.
Remember that you are beloved of the Lord.
Remember the words spoken by the apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ.

There was a specific Word Jude had in mind.
“There will be mockers…”

In the last time there will be mockers…

That is interesting, the timing element.

One of the evidences of moving closer to the last times will be the increase in mocking of the Lord and His people.

Well, that explains a lot of late!

What do mockers do?

They mock.
They mock faith.
They mock the actual belief and living out of true faith.
They are Creepers who sneak in and look religious, but their lives mock true faith.
They lust.
They are ungodly.
They follow after their own ungodly lusts.

As seen in the Word, and as we experience today, many of these mockers are “religious” leaders.

Be not surprised.
Fear not.
The Lord knows who they are.
The Lord knows who we are.

“Know. Remember.”

March 15, 2020

“Know. Remember.”

Blessings folk!

Jude has warned us about the Creepers

He has “pulled no punches”.

Creepers are real.
They are throughout the organizational church.
They creep into the Presence of the True Body of Christ.

Fear not.
The Lord knows.
He has equipped His body to deal with such.
The Lord gives the spiritual gift of “discerning of spirits”…

1 Co 12:10
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits;

The Lord gives the role/gift of prophet/prophesy…

Eph 4:11
And He gave some as apostles,
and some as prophets,
and some as evangelists,
and some as pastors and teachers,

The Lord will reveal those who are His.
The Lord will reveal those who are not His.

Forget not.
He desires for all to be save, even Creepers.

Now, read the next verse of Jude…

Jude 1:17-18

But you, beloved,
ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand
by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,

that they were saying to you,
“In the last time there will be mockers,
following after their own ungodly lusts.”

Two points for today.

Know who you are as a True Believer - “Beloved”.
Remember the Words of the Lord through the apostles.

Do so.
Know.

“They Are…”

March 14, 2020

“They Are…”

Blessings folk!

These Creepers are something.

The Lord has warned us about them.

We have been warned from at least the time of Enoch!

Jude gives us one last verse in speaking of them…

Jude 1:16
These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts;
they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage.

We have seen what the Creepers are.

Now, we see what they do.

They grumble.
They find fault.
They follow after their own lusts.
They speak arrogantly.
They flatter people with the agenda of gaining an advantage.

Grumblers.
Fault-finders.
Lusters.
Arrogant speakers.
Flatterers.

Many they are!

But, brethren…true brethren in the Lord…
We are not as they.

Live by the Spirit.

Live not in the way of the Creeper.

“God Will Execute Judgment”

March 13, 2020

“God Will Execute Judgment”

Blessings folk!

These Creepers are something, no?

They are everywhere in the organizational church.

They are not truly saved and therefore not of the Body of Christ, but they are part of religious organizations.

Even Enoch, from long ago, knew of them.

Read what he said…

Jude 1:14-15

It was also about these men that Enoch,
in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying,
“Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones,

to execute judgment upon all,
and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”

Enoch was a prophet…we will look more at him later…
He was seven generations from Adam.

What did he prophesy?

  • The Lord will come
  • The Lord will come with many thousands of His holy ones
  • The Lord will execute judgment upon all
  • The Lord will convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds
  • The Lord will convict the ungodly of the harsh things they spoke against Him

Jude tells thereby tells us that the Creepers are ungodly.

Clear.

God will judge.

Be not among them.

“Wild Waves. Wandering Stars"

March 12, 2020

“Wild Waves. Wandering Stars"

Blessings folk!

Creepers in the Body of Christ.
We have been warned.
Oh, they look so “busy”.
They look so “pious”.
They look so “religious”.

Remember how the Word describes them…

Jude 1:12-13
These are the men who are hidden reefs in your love feasts
when they feast with you without fear, caring for themselves;
clouds without water, carried along by winds;
autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted;

wild waves of the sea, casting up their own shame like foam;
wandering stars, for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever.

They are as the wild waves of the sea.
They cast their shame about as foam.
Foaming is the natural product of the casting about of waves.
Their shame is apparent to other, not to them.

They are wandering stars.
Interesting.
We know from the Word that the astronomical bodies have a point/purpose/plan…

Gen 1:14
Then God said,
“Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night,
and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years;

For signs, seasons, days, years.

These Creepers run about wandering…looking/acting “so important”.

As the current season of “extreme foolishness of man” increases, Creepers will arise even more.

They will be revealed.

“Fruitless Trees”

March 11, 2020

“Fruitless Trees”

Blessings folk!

These Creepers.
They are hidden reefs in our love feasts.
They feast without fear.
They care only for themselves.
They are clouds without water.
They are clouds carried on by winds.

Read again giving close attention to what we continue to learn of them…

Jude 1:12-13
These are the men who are hidden reefs in your love feasts
when they feast with you without fear, caring for themselves;
clouds without water, carried along by winds;
autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted;

wild waves of the sea, casting up their own shame like foam;
wandering stars, for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever.

They are autumn trees without fruit.
Autumn trees.
Trees that have gone through the growing and fruit producing season.
They looked good.
They have healthy leaves.
They look fruitful.
Yet, they are without fruit.

The Word describes them as “doubly-dead”.
“Uprooted”.

Gives us insight into what will happen to the Creepers.
They will experience the second death.

Rev 21:8
“But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

Creepers look like this.
They look good.
Big, beautiful “trees” that bear no fruit for the Kingdom of God.

Oh, they have “fruit”.
Their “fruit” is deeds of the flesh.

March 10, 2020

“Clouds Without Water”

Blessings folk!

The Creepers are hidden reefs in the midst of the love feasts of the Body of Christ.

The Lord knows they are there.
He will reveal if we look/listen.

Read again.

What else do we learn about them?

Jude 1:12-13
These are the men who are hidden reefs in your love feasts
when they feast with you without fear, caring for themselves;
clouds without water, carried along by winds;
autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted;

wild waves of the sea, casting up their own shame like foam;
wandering stars, for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever.

They are “clouds without water.”

Most of us have experienced a time of dryness related to rainfall.

You know what it is like to see a cloud that looks promising…
Billowy.
Dark.
Full of rain.

Yet, it brings no rain.

Such are these men.

They look the role.
They look as if they are “full of water/rain”.
Yet, they are without water.

Creepers are “without water.”
They do not have the “Water of the Word.”

Oh, they will profess to be “people of the Word”, but if you listen carefully, you will notice that when they speak of the things of the Lord it is like a summer insect scurrying across the surface of a still body of water. They barely alight, momentarily, upon the surface, then immediately scurry off to some thought of man.

They are without water.
They bring no Water.

Because of this, they are carried along by winds.
By the winds of false doctrine.
By the winds of opinion.
By the winds of political correctness.

We have been forewarned by Jude…and Paul…

Eph 4:14
As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;

Do not be tossed about by the wave and wind of the doctrine of tricky men - Creepers.

“Hidden Reefs…”

Blessings folk!

Read again about these men that have crept in…the creepers…

Jude 1:12-13
These are the men who are hidden reefs in your love feasts
when they feast with you without fear, caring for themselves;
clouds without water, carried along by winds;
autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted;

wild waves of the sea, casting up their own shame like foam;
wandering stars, for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever.

Think on these descriptors.

What does a “hidden reef” do?
It lies just below the surface of the water.
The water looks peaceful.
The water looks calm.
The water often shimmers with arrays of color.
The water looks safe.
But, reefs are extremely dangerous.
They destroy boats, often without revealing themselves.

Such are these men.

They are there in the love feasts of the church.
They look safe.
They look peaceful.
Yet, they are extremely dangerous.

Just under the surface is a stone that will destroy.

Do they care?
No.

They feast among us without fear.
They feast on us, caring only for themselves.

Look in the Spirit and you will see them.
Even in the natural you can see/hear the patterns of self-serving narcissism and greed.

“Woe to the Creepers”

March 7, 2020

“Woe to the Creepers”

Blessings folk!

Now, remember why we are looking at the Old Testament accounts of Cain, Balaam and Korah.

Jude 1:11
Woe to them!
For they have gone the way of Cain,
and for pay they have rushed headlong into the error of Balaam,
and perished in the rebellion of Korah.

Woe to them!

Remember who the “them” are?

Jude 1:4
For certain persons have crept in unnoticed,
those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation,
ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness
and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Creepers!

They had crept in.
They still creep in.

They are in leadership in many portions of “organized churchianity”.

They have gone the way of Cain - seek to come before the Lord in their own way, volition, etc.

They have rushed headlong into the error of Balaam - speaking the Word of the Lord for personal gain…power, prestige, position, money, etc.

They perish in the rebellion of Korah - seeking position outside the calling of the Lord.

Beware of such!

Do not be intimidated nor dissuaded by “title” or “position”.

Such creepers undermine the kingdom.

We will see how.
We will see how/who they really are.
We will then recognize them.

"14,700:

March 6, 2020

“14,700”

Blessings folk!

Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before the Presence of the Lord.

The Lord had told them that He would consume the people.

What would happen next?

Num 16:46-50
Moses said to Aaron,
“Take your censer and put in it fire from the altar, and lay incense on it;
then bring it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them,
for wrath has gone forth from the LORD, the plague has begun!”

Then Aaron took it as Moses had spoken,
and ran into the midst of the assembly,
for behold, the plague had begun among the people.
So he put on the incense and made atonement for the people.

He took his stand between the dead and the living, so that the plague was checked.

But those who died by the plague were 14,700, besides those who died on account of Korah.

Then Aaron returned to Moses at the doorway of the tent of meeting,
for the plague had been checked.

Apparently the judgment of God had already begun!
A plague!

Moses told Aaron to hurry and make atonement for the people.
Quickly!
Run!

Aaron took fire from the altar and placed it in his censer.
He then laid incense on it.
He then ran into the midst of the people.
He interceded and atoned for the people.
He took his stand between the dead and the living…now that is an interesting picture.

The plague was checked.
Still, 14,700 died…in addition to those that had died previously.

The rebellion of Korah.

“Get Away From Them…”

March 5, 2020

“Get Away From Them…”

Blessings folk!

The rebellion of Korah continues.

Korah and the other leaders were gone.
Swallowed by the ground.
Consumed by fire.

The people had fled at the judgment of God.
Yet, the very next day, the people were grumbling over losing “the Lord’s people”.
They blamed Moses/Aaron.

Num 16:41
But on the next day all the congregation of the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron, saying, “You are the ones who have caused the death of the LORD’S people.”

Wonder how the Lord felt?
He tells us…

Num 16:42-45
It came about, however, when the congregation had assembled against Moses and Aaron,
that they turned toward the tent of meeting, and behold,
the cloud covered it and the glory of the LORD appeared.

Then Moses and Aaron came to the front of the tent of meeting,

and the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

“Get away from among this congregation, that I may consume them instantly.”
Then they fell on their faces.

The situation grows in intensity.
The congregation is “assembled against Moses and Aaron”.
Then, the glory of the Lord appeared!
A cloud covered the tent of meeting.

The Lord spoke to Moses.
He told Moses to get away from the congregation.
God planned to consume them instantly.

Moses and Aaron immediately fell on their face.

In worship?
In fear?
In intercession?
In supplication?

Likely all…as we will see.

We have seen this before - Numbers 16:20+

Moses/Aaron were interceding on behalf of a rebellious people.

No doubt it would have been easy to step aside and say “have at it Lord, consume them”.

But, they did not.

They cried out before the Lord on behalf of a rebellious, unthankful, sin-filled people.

There is a picture here for us.

The Word: Episode 1218, Daniel 12:1

“Priesthood. Nicolaitans.”

March 4, 2020

“Priesthood. Nicolaitans.”

Blessings folk!

Let us back up a couple of verses.

The people were being led into rebellion by their leadership - some Levites.

God judged the rebels - ground opened up, fire from heaven.

The people then accused Moses/Aaron of causing the death of the leaders.

God had given instruction to hammer the censers held by those judged into sheets to cover the altar.

This was to be done as a reminder.

Reminder of what?

Num 16:39-40

So Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers which the men who were burned had offered,
and they hammered them out as a plating for the altar,

as a reminder to the sons of Israel that no layman who is not of the descendants of Aaron should come near to burn incense before the LORD;
so that he will not become like Korah and his company—
just as the LORD had spoken to him through Moses.

Only the descendants of Aaron could “come near to burn incense before the Lord”.

The Levitical priest had other roles and functions.
They had calling and purpose.

They simply could not function as Aaronic priests.

The word used here is “laymen”.
It literally means “stranger”, “foreigner”.
The idea is that someone who is “stranger/foreign” to the descendants of Aaron.

The term “laymen” is bandied about carelessly today,

Within the western church we have created a dichotomy of faith/role/functioning that is not found in the Word.

We created clergy vs. laity.

There is no such distinction in the New Covenant.
The Lord is clear about this.

Rev 5:9-10
And they sang a new song, saying,
“Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals;
for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men
from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.

“You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God;
and they will reign upon the earth.”

1 Pe 2:4-5
And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by men,
but is choice and precious in the sight of God,

you also,
as living stones,
are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood,
to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

1Pe 2:9-10
But you are A CHOSEN RACE,
A royal PRIESTHOOD,
A HOLY NATION,
A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION,
so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

for you once were NOT A PEOPLE,
but now you are THE PEOPLE OF GOD;
you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY.

Each and every true believer is a part of the holy priesthood of God.
We offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

Note who we are.
We are…

  • Chosen race
  • Royal priesthood
  • Holy nation
  • A people of God’s own possession

To what purpose?

To proclaim His excellencies.

Again, there is no “clergy/laity” in the Body of Christ.
Again, yes, yes, yes, yet I be heard wrong.
There are roles.
There are functionings.
There are the manifestations of the Holy Spirit to the building up of the Body.

But, there is no hint of what most of us experience now.

And we wonder why things are awry…?

The Word warns us about those who will seek to draw distinction.
Jude in his letter tells us much about those who “crept in”.
Revelation gives an interesting insight…

Rev 2:6
‘Yet this you do have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

Rev 2:15
‘So you also have some who in the same way hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans.

We know little of the “Nicolaitans”.
We do know that the Lord hated their deeds.
We do know that the Lord hated their teaching.

The word “Nicolaitans” means “power over the people/destruction of people”.

Many are the modern Nicolaitans.

“You Caused the Death of the Lord’s People”

March 3, 2020

“You Caused the Death of the Lord’s People”

Blessings folk!

The ground had swallowed the leaders of rebellion.

Fire from heaven consumed those joining with the leaders.

The “fire-proven” censers were to be hammered into sheets to cover the altar…as a reminder.

A reminder to the people.
Do not rebel.

The people fled running when they saw the judgment of God.

Perhaps they now believed God?
Perhaps they learned?

Yeah…sure…the next verse…

Num 16:41

But on the next day all the congregation of the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron, saying, “You are the ones who have caused the death of the LORD’S people.”

The next day.
Not a few days later.
Not weeks later.
THE NEXT DAY!

The next day they grumbled.
Against Moses and Aaron.

They literally blamed Moses and Aaron for the death “of the LORD’S people”.

Think about that.

Did they think that Moses/Aaron opened the ground?
Did they think that Moses/Aaron brought down fire from heaven?

Probably not.

What they did think is that Moses/Aaron were the ones who caused God to respond in these ways.

They literally faulted them with causing God to kill their wonderful leaders.

Nothing has changed.
Delusion of the masses.

“Censers”

March 2, 2020

“Censers”

Blessings folk!

The ground had opened up and swallowed Korah, Dathan and Abiru.

Fire from heaven had consumed the 250 leaders that had joined with them.

Now, note what the Lord tells us about all this…

Num 16:36-40

Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

“Say to Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest,
that he shall take up the censers out of the midst of the blaze, for they are holy;
and you scatter the burning coals abroad.

“As for the censers of these men who have sinned at the cost of their lives,
let them be made into hammered sheets for a plating of the altar,
since they did present them before the LORD and they are holy;
and they shall be for a sign to the sons of Israel.”

So Eleazar the priest took the bronze censers which the men who were burned had offered,
and they hammered them out as a plating for the altar,

as a reminder to the sons of Israel that no layman who is not of the descendants of Aaron should come near to burn incense before the LORD;
so that he will not become like Korah and his company—
just as the LORD had spoken to him through Moses.

Whoa!

The Lord told Moses to tell Eleazar, Aaron’s son, to gather the censers from the midst of the blaze.

The blaze remaining from the fire from heaven that consumed the men.

The sin of these men had cost them their lives.

The censers were now to be hammered into sheets for the plating of the altar.
They were holy.
They were presented before the Lord.
In a manner of speaking, the men themselves were a sacrifice unto the Lord.

This plating would be a sign to the sons of Israel.
A reminder that no “laymen”, who is not of the descendants of Aaron, should burn incense before the Lord.

(The word “laymen” here is actually “stranger”. Humm…we will look more at this and the false dichotomy that consumes the western church&hellipWinking

These men had sought to function in a role/calling that had not come from the Lord.

They were motivated by:

  • Jealousy
  • Greed
  • Hubris
  • Anger
  • Fear
  • Pride
  • Arrogance
  • Rebellion
  • False accusation

Remember…

Num 16:3
They assembled together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them,
“You have gone far enough,
for all the congregation are holy, every one of them,
and the LORD is in their midst;
so why do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the LORD?”

Sound familiar?

Nothing is new…

The Word: Episode 1215 Daniel 11:32-35

“Fire From the Lord”

March 1, 2020

“Fire From the Lord”

Blessings folk!

The ground had opened up and swallowed Korah, Dathan, Abiram, their families and their possessions.

Moses/Aaron were confirmed as the leaders of the Lord.

Wonder how the congregation responded?

We do not need to wonder.

The Lord tells us…

Num 16:34
All Israel who were around them fled at their outcry, for they said,
“The earth may swallow us up!”

Oh yeah, they fled.
They ran away.
Not an unwise thing.

They feared the earth might swallow them also.
Why?
Because the knew they had also sinned.
They knew they deserved the same judgment.
They knew they had also rebelled against God.

Remember the other 250 that rebelled?

Watch this…

Num 16:35
Fire also came forth from the LORD and consumed the two hundred and fifty men
who were offering the incense.

Fire from the Lord consumed them.

Whoa!

The ground opening up and swallowing people and possessions.
Fire from the Lord consuming people…remember, they were offering incense.

We will see that this is important…

The Word: Episode 1214 Daniel 11:20-35

“An Entirely New Thing”

February 29, 2020

“An Entirely New Thing”

Blessings folk!

The congregation was warned to back away from the dwellings of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.

Then…

Num 16:25-33

Then Moses arose and went to Dathan and Abiram, with the elders of Israel following him,

and he spoke to the congregation, saying,
“Depart now from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing that belongs to them,
or you will be swept away in all their sin.”

So they got back from around the dwellings of Korah, Dathan and Abiram;
and Dathan and Abiram came out and stood at the doorway of their tents,
along with their wives and their sons and their little ones.

Moses said,
“By this you shall know that the LORD has sent me to do all these deeds;
for this is not my doing.

“If these men die the death of all men or if they suffer the fate of all men,
then the LORD has not sent me.

“But if the LORD brings about an entirely new thing and the ground opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that is theirs, and they descend alive into Sheol,
then you will understand that these men have spurned the LORD.”

As he finished speaking all these words, the ground that was under them split open;

and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, and their households,
and all the men who belonged to Korah with their possessions.

So they and all that belonged to them went down alive to Sheol;
and the earth closed over them, and they perished from the midst of the assembly.

Well, there ya go…

Moses knew something would happen.
The Lord must have…

  1. Told him that He would judge by opening the ground, or
  2. Told Moses that He would do according to the word of Moses.

Regardless, judgment came.

Moses/Aaron were confirmed/affirmed/verified as leader from the Lord.

The Lord did “an entirely new thing”, something never known before.

The ground opened up.
It swallowed alive all those who rebelled, as well as their families.
Know that sin impacts folk.
They descended alive into Sheol - the netherworld.
Usually access to Sheol only occurs upon death.

So much for this group of rebellious leadership.

Now, for the others…

The Word: Episode 1213 Daniel 11:15-19

“Get Back…”

February 28, 2020

“Get Back…”

Blessings folk!

The Lord wanted to destroy the entire congregation due to their rebellion.

Moses/Aaron interceded on behalf of the congregation.
They asked the Lord, “will you destroy all for the sake of the sin of one?”

The Lord responds…

Num 16:23-24

Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

“Speak to the congregation, saying,
‘Get back from around the dwellings of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.’”

The Lord is now telling the people to back away from the dwelling of the leaders of the rebellion - Korah, Dathan and Abiram.

The Lord would not destroy the entire congregation.

He would deal with those leading in the sin.

The Lord heard the cry of Moses/Aaron.
He spared the people.
He would address the sinners.

Think of how this applies to your situation today…

Seek the Lord.
Trust Him.
He only does what is right…
