“Do Not Be Shaken/Disturbed"

Blessings folk!

Paul continues with his second letter to the Thessalonians.

Give close attention…

2 Th 2:1-2

Now we ask you, brothers and sisters,
regarding the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him,

that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit, or a message, or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.

What is Paul doing?

He is answering a question.
A question that we do not have.
A question he had received back after his first letter.
Obviously a question…
- regarding the coming of the Lord
- regarding our gathering together to Him

Do not glance over these truths.

Many professing believers do not believe that the Lord will return.
Many do not believe that we will be gathered together to Him.
The Lord states these truths forthrightly.

Paul then answers the question
- do not be shaken from your composure
- do not be disturbed
- either by a spirit
- either by a message
- either by a letter “as if” from us
- to the effect that the day of the Lord has come.

Someone had been preaching/teaching/writing/prophesying that the day of the Lord had already occurred. Apparently someone had sent a letter signed “Paul”, which was not from Paul.

Paul calls this deception in the next verse.

Therefore know this.
The Lord is coming.
The Lord will gather us to Him.
This is tied to the day of the Lord…somehow… Happy

Therefore do this.
Be not shaken from your composure…word means “mind”. What you know to be true.
Be not disturbed.

The day of the Lord had yet to come.

It is still yet to come.
