“A Helper Suitable for Him…”

Blessings folk!

The Lord knew that it was not good from man to be alone.
He had created Adam…

Gen 2:18-20

Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.”

Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name.

The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every beast of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him.

Was God confused?
Was God uncertain?

God knew that it was not good for man to be alone.
God knew that man needed a helper.
Did God intend for animals to be the answer?

No.

God brought the animals before Adam for a couple of reasons.

To establish dominion
God had already given man dominion over creation. In naming the animals, Adam executed the authority. He was literally “over the animals” by naming them. He “learned/met the animals”.

To discover that the needed helper was not among the animals.
Adam discovered/learned that the helpmate was not among the animals.
There was something else that was needed.

God knew this.
Adam learned it.

It was/is God’s design for man to have “a helper suitable for him.”
