“I Have…”

“I Have…”

Blessings folk!

As mentioned before, Psalm 119 is the longest chapter/psalm in the Bible.
Many verses that tell us about the Lord and His Word.
It tells us about our relationship to the Word.

As you read, give attention to what the Psalmist does…”I…”.
Watch what the Word does…
Forget not, the Lord is our portion…

Psa 119:57

Heth.
The LORD is my portion;
I have promised to keep Your words.

I sought Your favor with all my heart;
Be gracious to me according to Your word.

I considered my ways
And turned my feet to Your testimonies.

I hastened and did not delay
To keep Your commandments.

The cords of the wicked have encircled me,
But I have not forgotten Your law.

At midnight I shall rise to give thanks to You
Because of Your righteous ordinances.

I am a companion of all those who fear You,
And of those who keep Your precepts.

The earth is full of Your lovingkindness, O LORD;
Teach me Your statutes.

The Lord is our portion:

  • Word
  • Testimonies
  • Commandments
  • Law
  • Ordinances
  • Precepts
  • Statutes

Each describes and element of the Lord’s Word to us.

The Psalmist (and we?):
  • Promised to keep His Words
  • Sought His favor with all our heart
  • Asked the Lord to be gracious to us
  • Considered His ways
  • Turn our feet toward His testimonies
  • Hastened/did not delay to keep His commandments
  • Have not forgotten His law, though the wicked encircle us
  • Gives thanks to the Lord at midnight
  • Fear Him

Rejoice in the Lord and His Word revealed to us.
Know this, the earth is full of His lovingkindness.

Ask Him to teach you His statutes.
He will.
Through the Word.
Through creation.
Through the Spirit.
Through OneAnother.
