"Day 7"

“Day 7”

Blessings folk!

As we have seen, the Lord created everything in six days.
Six twenty-four hour days.

Then…

Gen 2:1-3

Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts.

By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.

Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

The heavens and earth…and all their hosts…were completed in six days.

What then did the Lord God do?

He rested on the seventh day.

Why?
Was He tired?
Was He reflecting?

No.

He set an example.
He modeled for man.

The seventh day was set aside by the Lord and sanctified…made holy…because He rested from all His work.

In the Old covenant, man was called to rest on the sabbath and keep it holy…

Exo 20:8

“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.”

In the New covenant we are not required to “keep the sabbath” in the sense of the Law.
Every day is the same.

Rom 14:5-6

One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.

He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does so for the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and gives thanks to God.

We as true believers keep the sabbath rest in/through the Lord Jesus…not be a “keeping of a day of the week”. (Obviously, I am an “every-day-the-samer” Happy )

Heb 4:9-11

So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.

For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His.

Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall, through following the same example of disobedience.

Enter the rest of the Lord.
Do not rest in self.
Be not disobedient.
Rest and rejoice in Him.
This is the true sabbath rest.
