“We Also Once Were…”

Blessings folk!

We saw yesterday that we are reject a factious man after a first and second warning.

Titus 3:10-11
10 Reject a factious man after a first and second warning,
11 knowing that such a man is perverted and is sinning, being self-condemned.
NASB

Often folk think this sounds “harsh”.
It is not harsh.

Let us begin to look at the context.

Titus 3:3-4
3 For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, ...

All of us once were…

  • foolish
  • disobedient
  • deceived
  • enslaved to various lusts and pleasures
  • spending our life in malice, in envy
  • hateful
  • hating one another

All of us were like this.

Then, one of the most powerful words in the Scripture, “but”…
But when the kindness of God…

We will see this tomorrow.

For now, a factious man still moves in the deeds of the flesh, hating not loving.

The “one another” of the flesh obviously different from the OneAnother of the Spirit.

We of the Spirit are not to endure the deeds of the flesh.
We are the fruit of the Kindness of God.
