"Decree/Census/Regsiter..."

“Decree/Census/Register…”

Blessings folk!

We are covering the portion of the Word that tells us about the birth of Jesus.
We have reached a very familiar portion…a least to those who watch “The Charlie Brown Christmas Story”. Happy

Pray before you read.
Let not a spirit of familiarity rob you of what the Lord is saying to you today.

Luk 2:1-6
Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth.
This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria.
And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city.
Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,
in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child.
While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth.

Political turmoil.
Political trouble.
Political shenanigans.
Decrees.
Mandates.

Nothing is new.

The prophetic Word of the Lord related to where He would be born was expedited by a Roman Caesar. Caesar had no clue of such.

Joseph and Mary had no choice.
Though she be “great with child”, they had to travel to Joseph’s hometown…at the direction of an oppressive, godless government.
Sound familiar

Fear not.
It is gonna get worse.

They went to be counted…to register.
God sent them to fulfill His Word.
The Baby was born there…

Mic 5:2
“But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Too little to be among the clans of Judah,
From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel.
His goings forth are from long ago,
From the days of eternity.”

The journey was difficult.
Resources minimal.
Yet, they pressed on.

So shall we.
