“O My God…”

Blessings folk!

Ezra was appalled at the sin of the people.
He sat until the evening prayer.
Others gathered with him.

Then…

Ezra 9:5

But at the evening offering I arose from my humiliation,
even with my garment and my robe torn,
and I fell on my knees and stretched out my hands to the LORD my God;

Ezra arose “from my humiliation”…”fasting”.
He stayed in this torn clothes…outward sign of humiliation.
He fell on his knees.
He stretched out his hands (palms) to the Lord…

Ezra 9:6
and I said,
“O my God,
I am ashamed and embarrassed to lift up my face to You,
my God,
for our iniquities have risen above our heads and our guilt has grown even to the heavens.

As Daniel did, Ezra did not exempt himself from the sin of the people.

He didn’t say “they have done this/that”.

He acknowledged that their iniquities had “risen above our heads”…multiplied.
Their guilt had grown…even to the heavens.

Their sin was great.

He was ashamed.
He was embarrassed to lift his face to the Lord.

And yet, he did.
He knew the Lord.
He knew what God would do with/for those who humble themselves before Him.
Do we know?
