The Lord was about to do something.
He debated (within/among Himself…an interesting thought) as to whether to tell Abraham or not (another interesting thought).
We know this…
Amo 3:7
Indeed, the Lord GOD does nothing
without revealing His counsel
to His servants the prophets.
The Lord reveals things.
The Lord speaks to man.
Now, the Lord was speaking something to Abraham.
He tells Abraham what He is about to do.
Gen 18:17-19
Then the LORD said, “Should I hide what I am about to do from Abraham?
Abraham is to become a great and powerful nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed through him.
The Lord again acknowledges and reiterates the promise that Abraham would become a great and powerful nation. All the nations of the earth would be blessed through him.
This has some connection with telling Abraham what was to come.
It seems that Abraham was drawn into “the inner circle” of the knowledge of God.
As we will see, the Lord tells him.
Will be interesting to watch Abraham’s reaction…
