“Salvation Comes In A Taxing Time”

Today’s reading is from Matthew 1:18-25 and Luke 2:1-7

We live in a blessed time.
We live in a time of increasing difficulty and evil.

This is nothing new.

One thing we do know.
Evil will increase…

2 Peter 3:2-4

2 I want you to recall both the predictions foretold by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles.
3 Above all, understand this: In the last days blatant scoffers will come, being propelled by their own evil urges
4 and saying, “Where is his promised return? For ever since our ancestors died, all things have continued as they were from the beginning of creation.”

Joseph and Mary also faced difficult times.

Can you imagine the chaos resulting from a governmental decree that all return to their hometown to register?

Apparently there was not mercy upon those about to give birth.
The decree must be honored.

Apparently Joseph had a difficult time in believe that which Mary must have told him. Joseph was contemplating divorcing her privately - putting her away.

But then, an angel speaks do Joseph in a dream.

Then, a Savior is born.

In a poor circumstance.
In a time of political chaos.

In God’s perfect timing.

So will be His return.
