“By Faith: Moses Refused…”

Blessings folk!

By faith Moses’ parents defied the king’s edict.
They would not throw their son in the river.
By faith they obeyed the Lord…there was purpose for Moses.

By faith Moses, when he was grown…

Heb 11:24-26

By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,

choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin,

considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt;
for he was looking to the reward.

There is much here.
Look closely.

Moses was grown.
He refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.
He knew he was not of Pharaoh’s line.

How?

A couple of things.

One, conjecture.

I suspect he knew because he was circumcised.
His parents would have been obedient to the commandment of the Lord.
He carried the mark/evidence in his body.

Second, there is fact.

Act 7:21-24

“And after he had been set outside,
Pharaoh’s daughter took him away and nurtured him as her own son.

“Moses was educated in all the learning of the Egyptians,
and he was a man of power in words and deeds.

“But when he was approaching the age of forty,
it entered his mind to visit his brethren, the sons of Israel.

“And when he saw one of them being treated unjustly,
he defended him and took vengeance for the oppressed by striking down the Egyptian.

Did you see it?

What caused Moses to refuse the life he was experiencing?
He was Pharaoh’s daughter’s son.
He was nurtured by her.
He was educated in all learning of the Egyptians.
He was a man of power in words and deeds.
Was he being prepared for Egyptian leadership?

He had it “all”.

What happened?

“It entered his mind…”

Wonder where that came from? Happy

The Lord placed it within his mind to visit his brethren, the sons of Israel…

We will continue later.

For now, by faith Moses listened.
His parents refused the king’s edict.
He refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.
They refuse the way of the world.
They embraced the way of faith.

Do we?
