"Put On Humility"
“Put On Humility”
Those who are chosen by God are to put on humility.
So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;
bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.
Note the first word, “so”.
The meaning is “therefore, in light of what was just said”.
So, , you know what the means.
You must see what was just said.
First, think for a moment on the verses above.
Those who are chosen of God are holy and beloved.
Never forget this.
Those who are chose of God are to put on a heart of…
We are empowered to do so by the Most High.
Yet, we can refuse to do so.
The “putting on” is a decision on our part.
How do we “put on”?
Well, that is where the context comes in.
Reading the entire letter of Colossians is helpful.
Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
Yes, you saw the “therefore”. LOL
Those who have been raised up with Christ are to…
- keep seeking the things above
- set our minds on the things above
- set not our minds on the things on the earth
Keeping our minds set on the things above where the Lord is seated at the right hand of Father will enable us to walk in the humility of the Spirit.
May we do so.
