“Who Am I?”

“Who Am I?”

Blessings folk!

Nathan had received a Word from the Lord in a night vision.
The Word was for David.
Nathan brought the Word to David.
David’s response?

2 Sa 7:18-22

Then David the king went in and sat before the LORD, and he said,
“Who am I, O Lord GOD, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far?

“And yet this was insignificant in Your eyes, O Lord GOD, for You have spoken also of the house of Your servant concerning the distant future. And this is the custom of man, O Lord GOD.

“Again what more can David say to You? For You know Your servant, O Lord GOD!

“For the sake of Your word, and according to Your own heart,
You have done all this greatness to let Your servant know.

“For this reason You are great, O Lord GOD;
for there is none like You, and there is no God besides You,
according to all that we have heard with our ears.

How would you describe David’s response?

Humbled
Awed
Thankful
Amazed

David desired to build a house for the Lord.
This would not happen.
But, his offspring would build a house for the Lord.

David chose to focus on that.

Rather than complain, etc. about not being the one who would build, he rejoiced in the fact that “his house”…lineage…would continue.

David acknowledged that it was the Lord that had brought him this far.
It was the Lord who was exalting him.
It was the Lord that was speaking of the distant future.

David admitted that he could say nothing more because the Lord knew his heart.

The Lord had done/would do all these things…

  • For the sake of His Word
  • According to His Own heart

Therefore, the Lord is great.
There is none like Him
There is no God beside Him.

Do we have this response to the Most High?

David modeled much for us.

Do it!
