“I Observe Your Precepts”

Blessings folk!

As we continue with the next stanza of Psalm 119…amazing how much information the Lord has given us about the Word in this Psalm…give close heed to what the Word does, how it is described and what it did for the Psalmist and does for us.

Psa 119:49-56

Zayin.
Remember the word to Your servant,
In which You have made me hope.

This is my comfort in my affliction,
That Your word has revived me.

The arrogant utterly deride me,
Yet I do not turn aside from Your law.

I have remembered Your ordinances from of old, O LORD,
And comfort myself.

Burning indignation has seized me because of the wicked,
Who forsake Your law.

Your statutes are my songs
In the house of my pilgrimage.

O LORD, I remember Your name in the night,
And keep Your law.

This has become mine,
That I observe Your precepts.

The Word described as…

  • Our hope
  • Comfort
  • Source of reviving
  • Law
  • Ordinances
  • Statutes
  • Precepts

What did the Psalmist do/receive?
  • Hope
  • Comfort in affliction
  • Revived
  • Stood firm as arrogant derided him
  • Remembered the Lord’s ordinances
  • Burned with indignation due to the wicked who forsake Your law
  • Sang the Lord’s statutes as songs…in the house of my pilgrimage…his body!
  • Remembers the Lord’s name in the night…upon His night bed…
  • Keeps the Lord’s law
  • Observes His precepts

It is paramount that we learn/know/live the Word of the Lord.

We are seeing how much we receive from the Word.
The Word provides insight, etc. into all situations of life.

Why would we not seek it?
Why would we reject it?
