Jesus is now led away to be crucified.
The mocking, faux scarlet robe was removed, replaced by His own garments.
It is safe to assume that it was not a subtle changing of wardrobe.

Jesus carried the cross...but eventually foundered.
Simon of Cyrene was “pressed into service to bear His cross”.

A large crowd followed.
Women weeped and mourned.

But note what Jesus said…
  • stop weeping for me
  • weep for yourselves and your children
  • evil, difficult days are coming
    • when the barren will be considered blessed
    • they will say to the mountains “fall on us”…”cover us”… we know when this will occur...it is mentioned in Revelation 6

15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

In the midst of horrific persecution, Jesus kept His eyes upon the calling of Father.
He encouraged those weeping to look to the Lord, not to circumstances.

The crucifixion of Jesus was bad.
Worse is to come.

Are you ready?
