David was now King over Israel and Judah.
He grew in might and power.
Because the Lord was with him.
2 Sa 5:10
David became greater and greater, for the LORD God of hosts was with him.
There is more.
Other nations recognized David as King.
2 Sa 5:11-12
Then Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David with cedar trees and carpenters and stonemasons; and they built a house for David.
And David realized that the LORD had established him as king over Israel,
and that He had exalted his kingdom for the sake of His people Israel.
Hiram built at house for David.
He sent supplies.
He sent the crew.
David understood that the Lord established him.
He understood that the Lord was exalting his kingdom for the sake of His people Israel, not just for the sake of David.
One more thing.
David’s family expanded.
2 Sa 5:13-16
Meanwhile David took more concubines and wives from Jerusalem, after he came from Hebron; and more sons and daughters were born to David.
Now these are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem:
Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon,
Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia,
Elishama, Eliada and Eliphelet.
These were in addition to the wives and children he had in Hebron.
Looks like a big, peaceful group…?
We will see…
