“You Have Reproached the Lord”

Blessings folk!

The king of Assyria had reproached the Lord.
He had done so through the word he sent via messengers.
The people of Jerusalem/Judah had heard.
The king Judah had heard.
The Lord had heard.

Read and see what the reproach was…

2Ki 19:23-24

‘Through your messengers you have reproached the Lord,
And you have said, “With my many chariots
I came up to the heights of the mountains,
To the remotest parts of Lebanon;
And I cut down its tall cedars and its choice cypresses.
And I entered its farthest lodging place, its thickest forest.

“I dug wells and drank foreign waters,
And with the sole of my feet I dried up
All the rivers of Egypt.”

“I, I, I, I, I…”

The king was proud, boastful, arrogant.

Note what he had done
He had ascended to the heights…
He had cut down the tall cedars, the choice cypresses…highly valued…
He had entered the farthest lodging place.
He had dug wells and drank foreign waters.
He had dried up all the rivers of Egypt.

Beware when someone launches into “I, I, …”

Reminds me of another passage…

Isa 14:12-14

“How you have fallen from heaven,
O star of the morning, son of the dawn!
You have been cut down to the earth,
You who have weakened the nations!

“But you said in your heart,
‘I will ascend to heaven;
I will raise my throne above the stars of God,
And I will sit on the mount of assembly
In the recesses of the north.

‘I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High.’

Five “I”s.

Many believe this is a typological picture spoken to the king of Babylon that reflects the true account of what happened to Lucifer in heaven. I think so.

Fear not the taunts of man.
Fear not the strategies of man.
Fear not the “victories” of man.
Know that those who are the Lord’s will be guarded, protected and used by Him to the praise of the glory of His grace.
