"Unwilling to Work..."

“Unwilling to Work…”

Blessings folk!

We have seen that we are to work.

A little more insight…

1Th 4:11
and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands, just as we commanded you,

2Th 3:10-13
For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either.

For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies.

Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to work in quiet fashion and eat their own bread.

But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary of doing good.

Refusal to work leads to...

  • not eating (this is a major problem in our society...folk are able to eat, though they refuse to work, they are encouraged to not work...it actually “pays more” to not work… a perversion of the principles of the Lord)
  • an undisciplined life
  • acting as a busybody

Such should not be.
We should work...even/especially if “retired” from a previous career.
We should live a quiet life...not riotous, not busybodying…
We should never grow weary of doing good.

Remember, reward awaits.
Reward from the Lord for good…

Col 3:23-24
Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,
knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.

Reward of inheritance.

Also, remember that the Lord will reward the evil…

Col 3:25
For he who does wrong will receive the consequences of the wrong which he has done, and that without partiality.

Do wrong, in this context not working heartily, and consequences of the wrong will come.
This will happen without respect to person.

Therefore, today, in all we do, do unto the Lord.
It is He that we serve.
