“A Secluded Place…”

Blessings folk!

John the Baptist’s disciples heard that he had died.
They came and took his body and buried him.

Read what happens next…

Mar 6:30-32
The apostles gathered together with Jesus;
and they reported to Him all that they had done and taught.

And He said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while.”
(For there were many people coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.)

They went away in the boat to a secluded place by themselves.

Remember the context.
The story of John the Baptist was expanded as an account.
The apostles had been…

  • preaching that men should repent
  • casting out demons
  • healing sick people, anointing them with oil
  • making the name of Jesus well known

Herod had heard this and was frightened that it was John the Baptist risen from the dead.

Now, the apostles return.
They gather to Jesus.
They report to Jesus all that had been done and taught.

What did Jesus tell them to do?
“Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while”.

They had been so “busy” that they had not even had time to eat.
Many were the people coming and going.

Jesus was taking them away via boat…to a secluded place.

The Lord does the same today.

He will lead to secluded places for time of respite.

It may be for a short period of time.
It may be for a longer period of time.
Rest in the Lord as He leads.
