“Revive/Teach/Strengthen… The Word"

Blessings folk!

Psalm 119 reveals the wonder, glory, power and purpose of the Word of God.

There is much information for us.

Here is the next stanza…

Psa 119:25-32

Daleth.
My soul cleaves to the dust;
Revive me according to Your word.

I have told of my ways, and You have answered me;
Teach me Your statutes.

Make me understand the way of Your precepts,
So I will meditate on Your wonders.

My soul weeps because of grief;
Strengthen me according to Your word.

Remove the false way from me,
And graciously grant me Your law.

I have chosen the faithful way;
I have placed Your ordinances before me.

I cling to Your testimonies;
O LORD, do not put me to shame!

I shall run the way of Your commandments,
For You will enlarge my heart.

Much could/should be explored with each statement…beyond the confines of this format.

Seize/grasp the basics.

Note the condition of the Psalmist:

  • His soul cleaves to the dust
  • He had told his ways to God…God answered
  • He wanted understanding
  • His should weeped because of grief
  • He had false in him
  • He had decided to chose the faithful way
  • He was clinging to the testimonies of the Lord
  • He had determined to run the way of God’s commandments

Look at the requests of the Psalmist…
  • Revive me…according to Your Word
  • Teach me…Your statutes
  • Make me understand…the way of Your precepts
  • Strengthen me…according to Your Word
  • Remove the false from me…by graciously granting me Your law
  • Do not put me to shame…I have chosen the faithful way/Your ordinances, Your testimonies
  • Enlarge my heart…I shall run the way of Your commandments

We see the pattern.

Often believers desire to be revived, to be taught, to understand, to be strengthened, to know the truth, to have their hearts enlarged…yet, they refuse to spend meaningful, substantive time in the Word.

They refuse to allow God to speak to them through the Word.
They refuse the move and teaching of the Spirit.

Read the Word.
Learn the Word.
Meditate upon the Word.

Ask the Lord to:
  • Revive
  • Teach
  • Bring understanding
  • Strengthen
  • Remove the false
  • Remove the shame
  • Enlarge the heart

The Lord will transform you through His Word.
