"Secluded With Favor..."

“Secluded With Favor…”

Blessings folk!

Think on the moment.

Zacharias and Elizabeth were aged.
Well past child-bearing years.
Their prayers for a child had gone unanswered…so they thought.
But now…
Now the Lord had said that they would have a child.
This would not be an immaculate conception.
This would be a child conceived in love, in passion, in faithfulness to the Word of the Lord.

In a moment, physical intimacy that had likely not occurred for decades happened.
What must they have been thinking?
They knew they were literally fulfilling the Word of the Lord.
They knew that the Lord was honoring His Word and answering their prayer.

No wonder Elizabeth reacted as she did…

Luk 1:24-25
After these days Elizabeth his wife became pregnant, and she kept herself in seclusion for five months, saying,
“This is the way the Lord has dealt with me in the days when He looked with favor upon me, to take away my disgrace among men.”

Elizabeth became pregnant.
Nearly stated in passing.
We do well to reflect upon the wonder of the time in their life.

Elizabeth secluded herself.
Why?
Not out of embarrassment.
Rather, from joy and thankfulness.
She knew the Lord has looked upon her/them with favor.
She knew the Lord had removed the disgrace of childlessness from her.
This was a holy occurrence.
This was a precious time.
This was something not to be taken lightly and frivolously.

She worshipped.
She reflected.
She meditated.
She gave thanks.
She basked in the Presence of the Lord as the life of John grew within.

So should we.
What is it that the Lord desires to “birth” from us?
