Eph 4:11-13

And He gave some as apostles,
and some as prophets,
and some as evangelists,
and some as pastor
and teachers,

for the equipping of the saints for the work of service,
to the building up of the body of Christ;

until we all attain to the unity of the faith,
and of the knowledge of the Son of God,
to a mature man,
to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.

God gave/gives those who have certain roles/functions.

These equip the saints.
The equipping is for the work of service, for the building up of the Body of Christ.

When does this occur?
For how long?

“Until…”!

Until we all…note ALL..attain to the unity of the faith.
Until we all attain to the knowledge of the Son of God
Until we all attain maturity.
Until we all attain to the measure of the stature…the fulness of Christ.

Obviously, this is an ongoing process.

Since it is ongoing, then why do we think that we as the western church can say “we do not need all these roles/functions”?

We should not.
But we do

To the detriment of the Kingdom.

Let us repent and live the Kingdom life as the Lord has designed.
