“At Your Word…”

Today’s reading:

Matthew 4:18-22
Mark 1:16-20
Luke 5:1-11
John 1:35-51

Jesus called some of His disciples.
These were not “cold calls”.
These men had heard the Lord.
They responded to the Word and to the Call to come, to fish for men.

Luke gives some interesting insight.
Jesus taught.
He then told Peter to go into the deep water and lower there nets for a catch.
Peter says they had worked hard all night and caught nothing, but at Your Word…

Do you see it?

At the Word of the Lord a large catch was made.
In the effort and hard work of man nothing was accomplished.

What does the contemporary church depend upon for the most part?
Effort of man.
Rarely do we hear the Word of the Lord to go into the deep water.

Why?
We are afraid.
The Lord told them to be not afraid.
