“I Despise Myself…”

Blessings folk!

Job had heard the questions of the Lord.

The Lord had asked pointed inquiries.

The Lord used elements of creation to question Job.

How does Job respond?

He returns to the original question…
He returns to his original demand…

Job 42:1-6

Then Job answered the LORD and said:

“I know that you can do all things,
and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.

‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’
Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand,
things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.

‘Hear, and I will speak;
I will question you, and you make it known to me.’

I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear,
but now my eye sees you;

therefore I despise myself,
and repent in dust and ashes.”

“Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?”

Job acknowledges the error of is ways.
Job knows that God can do all things.
Job knows that no purpose of God’s can be thwarted.
Job knows that he spoke of things that he can not understand.
Job knows that his demanding from God was wrong.
Job despises himself because of what he had done.
Job repents…in dust and ashes…serious.
Job had heard of the Lord.
Now he sees…

May we see and learn…
