“Samuel Died”

“Samuel Died”

Blessings folk!

Samuel, Saul, David.

We have seen the relationship between them.

Samuel, the prophet.
Saul, the King.
David, the “King-in-waiting”.

We saw in our last time together that Saul acknowledged that David would be king.

Watch what happened next…

1Sa 25:1

Then Samuel died;
and all Israel gathered together and mourned for him,
and buried him at his house in Ramah.
And David arose and went down to the wilderness of Paran.

Samuel dies.
Suddenly.
“Unceremoniously”.

The brevity of the account…
The pointed declaration…
Reminds us that life is but a fleeting vapor.

Ecc 9:9

Enjoy life with the woman whom you love all the days of your fleeting life which He has given to you under the sun;
for this is your reward in life and in your toil in which you have labored under the sun.

 Ecc 11:10

So, remove grief and anger from your heart and put away pain from your body,
because childhood and the prime of life are fleeting.

Jas 4:14

Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow.
You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.

So, Samuel dies.
All Israel gathered together and mourned him.
They buried him at his house in Ramah.

David arose and relocated to the wilderness of Paran.

Us?

Should we not consider what we are doing with the fleeting vapor of life that the Lord has graciously granted us?
