“Korah, Dathan, Abiram, On”

Blessings folk!

Just spent 31 days on the “error of Balaam”.
Remember from whence we came…

Jde 1:11
Woe to them!
For they have gone the way of Cain,
and for pay they have rushed headlong into the error of Balaam,
and perished in the rebellion of Korah.

The error of Balaam?
He sought to use the giftedness granted to him by God for his personal gain.
He “acted” religious, yet his heart was revealed to be consumed with darkness.
He heard from the Lord, but rather than be obedient to the end, he kept “checking back with God”.
Lastly, he showed Balak how to corrupt the people of the Lord…by syncretizing the truth of the Lord with their ungodly practices.

We continue to press on…the rebellion of Korah!

Num 16:1-3

Now Korah the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi,
with Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and
On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took action,

and they rose up before Moses, together with some of the sons of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, chosen in the assembly, men of renown.

They assembled together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them,
“You have gone far enough, for all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is in their midst; so why do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the LORD?”

Two things.
Note who these men were.
Note what they did.

First:
They were leaders of Israel.
Levites.
Leaders of the congregation.
Chosen by the assembly.
Men of renown.
They numbered in the hundreds.

Second:
They assembled against Moses and Aaron.
They declared that all the congregation was holy…every one of them… really?
They declared the Lord was in their midst.
They accused them of “going too far”.
They accused Moses/Aaron of exalting themselves above the assembly of the Lord.

In other words, they were saying “who put you in charge?”

Again, they were leaders.
They had callings of God.
They had roles and responsibilities.

Yet, they questioned…

Wonder where this will go…
