“Do To Her As You Please”

Blessings folk!

A quick Sunday word.

Remember, Sarai had suggested to Abram that he take her handmaiden, Hagar, and had children by her.
He did.
Sarai thought that Hagar looked upon her with contempt.
She was likely correct.

So, what was Abram to do?
The wife is not happy.
The concubine is raising your only child.

Gen 16:6

But Abram said to Sarai, “Behold, your servant is in your power; do to her as you please.” Then Sarai dealt harshly with her, and she fled from her.

Abram “punted”.
He told Sarai that Hagar was her servant, do with her as she wants.
A true statement.
But, I believe he was avoiding the issue.
He knew what Sarai might do.

What did she do?
Treated Hagar harshly.
Finally Hagar fled the house…with the boy.

This should settle the matter, no?
No.

…to be continued…
