“May It Not Be Counted Against Them”

Blessings folk!

Paul gives a poignant insight into his life.
He had to defend himself before the “powers that be”...

2Ti 4:16
At my first defense no one supported me, but all deserted me; may it not be counted against them.

At his first defense, no one supported him.
He was deserted by all.
We are uncertain as to who “all” is.
Apparently he had believers in his midst that did not stand beside him.
They left him alone.

This does not mean they left the faith.
They simply were not with him at his first defense.

Note Paul’s heart.
It is the same as the Lord’s.
It is the same as Stephen’s.
May the desertion not be counted against them.

Can we say the same of those who have deserted us?
...who have harmed us?
...who have disappointed us?

May the Lord not count it against them.
May we never hold it against them.
