Yesterday we saw how persecution, tribulation, problems and troubles might lead to the grace of God being poured forth in might and power.
Indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.
If you desire to live godly in Christ Jesus, then you will be persecuted.
At some point.
At some time.
In some way.
Paul actually encourages Timothy to embrace such…
Now you followed my teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love, perseverance,
persecutions, and sufferings, such as happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium and at Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord rescued me!
We understand following teaching, conduct, purpose, faith, patience, love and perseverance…usually folk stop at the end of that verse.
But, that is mid-thought is what Paul was communicating.
We are to that persecutions and sufferings will come.
Sufferings and persecutions at the hands of unbelievers.
Sufferings and persecutions at the hands of those who profess to be believers.
Follow and rejoice, understanding that the Lord rescues us.
