“You Saw, Heard, Performed”

Blessings folk!

Nehemiah, the Levites and the assembled people were praying before the Lord.

They blessed the Lord.
They declared that He created all.
They spoke of Him choosing and calling Abram their forefather.

Then…

Neh 9:9-11

“You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt,
And heard their cry by the Red Sea.

“Then You performed signs and wonders against Pharaoh,
Against all his servants and all the people of his land;
For You knew that they acted arrogantly toward them,
And made a name for Yourself as it is this day.

“You divided the sea before them,
So they passed through the midst of the sea on dry ground;
And their pursuers You hurled into the depths,
Like a stone into raging waters.

They acknowledged:

  • The Lord had heard the affliction of their fathers in Egypt
  • The Lord had heard their cry at the Red Sea.
  • The Lord had performed signs and wonder against Pharaoh
    • Against Pharaoh’s servants and all the people of the land
  • The Lord knew how the Egyptians had acted toward Israel
  • The Lord made a name for Himself
  • The Lord divided the Red Sea
  • They passed through the midst of the sea on dry ground…think on that ground under sea, dried.
  • The Lord judged the pursuers…hurled them into the depths of the sea…the same sea that His people had just passed through

The people knew this.
The people recounted this.

They knew that they had sinned.
They knew that God had been faithful.

Now, they are recounting His faithfulness in repenting and seeking forgiveness.

So should we.
