“Precepts of the Lord”

Blessings folk!

Psalm 119:92-96
92 If your law had not been my delight,
I would have perished in my affliction.
93 I will never forget your precepts,
for by them you have given me life.
94 I am yours; save me,
for I have sought your precepts.
95 The wicked lie in wait to destroy me,
    but I consider your testimonies.
96 I have seen a limit to all perfection,
but your commandment is exceedingly broad.

The affliction that the Psalmist experienced was so intense he declares that he would have perished - if not for the Law of the Lord.

The Law of the Lord was his delight.

The Psalmist continues to declare…

  • I will not forget your precepts…by them life was given
  • I am yours
  • I have sought your precepts
  • I consider your testimonies
  • I have seen a limit to all that the world says is perfect

Note what we learn of God’s law/precepts/commandments/testimonies
  • Delight
  • Support in affliction
  • Give life
  • Save us
  • Exceedingly broad

The Psalmist cries for the Lord to save Him.
So should we.

When the wicked lie in wait...consider the testimonies of the Lord.
When afflicted...delight in the law of the Lord.
Seek the precepts of the Lord.
Do not forget the precepts of the Lord.
Learn the precepts of the Lord.
