“Lord’s Bond-Servant”

Blessings folk!

Yesterday, we saw the character of leadership within the Body of Christ.
The Spirit led Paul to write to Titus delineating these traits…

Above reproach.
Husband of one wife.
Not self-willed.
Not quick-tempered.
Not addicted to wine.
Not pugnacious.
Not fond of sordid gain.
Hospitable.
Lover of good.
Sensible.
Just.
Devout.
Self-controlled.
Holding fast the Word of Truth.
Able to exhort in sound doctrine.
Able to refute those who contradict.

Hear the Word of the Lord through Paul to Timothy…

2Ti 2:24-26

The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged,

with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,

and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.

All true believers are bond-servants of the Lord.
Therefore, all these things apply to us…yes, even teaching…we all teach in varied ways.

How much more so should leaders in the Body be.
They must be:
non-quarreling
kind to all
able to teach
patient when wronged
gentle when correcting opposition…perhaps the Lord will save the opposer!

Leaders model the life of the Kingdom to those in the Kingdom…and to those outside.

The Word also tells us this…

2Ti 2:22-23

Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.

But refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that they produce quarrels.

Flee youthful lusts.
Pursue righteousness.
Pursue faith.
Pursue love.
Pursue peace.
Do so with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart…the true Body
Refuse foolish and ignorant speculations. Such produce quarrels.

This is what we as the Body of Christ seek in leadership.
The Lord has said so.
Why do we do as the children of Israel and look upon the external?

1Sa 16:7

But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

Seek the heart of the Lord.
