“Evil in the Sight of the Lord”

Blessings folk!

David had eliminated the problem.
Uriah was dead…at the hand and plan of David.

David considered the matter settled.
It was over.
All would be well.

We can glean this from the following passage.
Yet, there was one thing.

What did the Lord God think?

2 Sa 11:26-27

Now when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead,
she mourned for her husband.

When the time of mourning was over,
David sent and brought her to his house and she became his wife;
then she bore him a son.
But the thing that David had done was evil in the sight of the LORD.

Bathsheba, she is never mentioned by name after the initial naming…always referred to as “the wife of Uriah”…even in Jesus’ genealogy… mourned the death of her husband.

When the time of mourning was completed…

David sent for her.
David brought here into his house.
David made her his wife…one of several.
She bore David a son.

But…
What David did was evil in the sight of the Lord.

God knew.
God knows.

Then.
Now.

God would…will…deal with the evil.
