“Jesus Retreats”

Blessings folk!

Today’s reading:

John 11:54-57

The passage today begins with “therefore.”
Remember, always consider what the “therefore” is “there for.”

Jesus no longer continued to walk publicly among the Jews...specifically the leadership.

Why?

As we saw yesterday, the Jewish leadership had decide to kill Him.

So, Jesus and His disciples went to the country near the wilderness.

Passover was approaching. (Give heed to the Feasts that are mentioned in the gospels. They are important guideposts as to the timing of Jesus’ life and events.)

There was great discussion in Jerusalem.

Would Jesus come to the feast?
It was required of every Hebrew male.

Would the chief priests and Pharisees seize Him?
They were planning to do so.
They were fearful of doing so during the Feast, but were determined to eliminate the “Jesus threat.”

Think it not strange when we encounter various trials and tribulations.
Jesus, The Master, faced such.
We, His slaves, will also.

Be strong in the Lord.
Be of the courage He has placed in you.
