“Where Is Your Wife…”

Blessings folk!

Abraham had guests.
Three men had arrived.
One was the Lord.

Abraham offered hospitality.
They accepted.
Read and note Abraham’s reaction.
He ran about in a manner foreshadowing Martha…
Then note what the three men did.

Gen 18:6-10

So Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah, and said, “Quickly, prepare three measures of fine flour, knead it and make bread cakes.”

Abraham also ran to the herd, and took a tender and choice calf and gave it to the servant, and he hurried to prepare it.

He took curds and milk and the calf which he had prepared, and placed it before them; and he was standing by them under the tree as they ate.

Then they said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” And he said, “There, in the tent.”

He said, “I will surely return to you at this time next year; and behold, Sarah your wife will have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door, which was behind him.

Abraham hurried.
He got Sarah to work on the bread.

Abraham ran.
He selected a choice, tender calf and gave it to a servant for preparation.

Abraham served.
He served the bread, curds and meat.
He stood by them as they ate, awaiting to meet the need they might have.

As they ate, a question came.
“Where is Sarah?”

The purpose of the visit was revealed.
At this time next year they would have a son through Sarah.

Abraham had previously been told this.

Gen 17:16

“I will bless her, and indeed I will give you a son by her. Then I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.”

Why the visit and repetition?

Could this be the cause…Sarah was listening at the tent door…

We will see Sarah’s reaction tomorrow, but it appears that she did not know about this.

Had Abraham told her?

…to be continued…
