“Affirmation, Exhortation”
Blessings folk!
So Peter had “stuck his foot in his mouth.” I love Peter. So like us.
He did not know what to say. So he said something! (See yesterday’s blog)
What was the response of Jesus?
Mar 9:7-9

Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is My beloved Son, listen to Him!”
All at once they looked around and saw no one with them anymore, except Jesus alone.
As they were coming down from the mountain, He gave them orders not to relate to anyone what they had seen, until the Son of Man rose from the dead.
Jesus did not respond. Father did. Father responded with a strong Word of affirmation and exhortation.
Affirmation: This is My Beloved Son.
Father declares Who Jesus is. These three disciples...Peter, James, John...now knew beyond doubt.
Exhortation: Listen to Him. Father tells them what to do. They now knew beyond doubt that they were to listen to Him.
Suddenly, they looked around and saw Jesus alone. All others were gone.
Can you imagine the impact? As they departed from the mountain, Jesus gave them orders.
They were not to tell anyone what they had seen...until the Son of Man rose from the dead.
Jesus again tells them what is to happen to Him. The Word of the Lord was fulfilled. The Word of the Lord would be fulfilled.
So it is today...
