We have seen that as Believers we are to devote ourselves to the good works of the Kingdom…things that are excellent and profitable for folk.
Now, note what we are to avoid, what we are to shun, what we are to reject...
9 But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.
Forthright and to the point.
We are to have nothing to do with the foolish arguments of man.
Sadly, we often see such in the Body of Christ.
- foolish controversies
- genealogies (I know of folk who are trying to ride the coattails of generational “church membership” into glory. That train will not make it to glory.)
- quarrels about the law (think denominational rules/regulations and the structures of man)
Such are unprofitable.
Such are worthless.
I think if we examined what we do closely we will find that much that we deal with fall under these categories.
We must reject such.
We must avoid such.
It will literally quench the Life of the Spirit.
Wait until tomorrow...and see what happens to one who refuses to avoid these things.
