“spirits”

Today’s reading:

Matthew 12:43-45
Luke 11:24-26

Jesus continues to explain the unclean spirits.

Look at the truths.
These are still applicable today.

• When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, does not find it.
• The spirit, when it cannot find rest, returns to “my house” from which it came
• If it finds the house “unoccupied, swept and put in order”, then it goes with seven other spirits more wicked than itself and they go in and live there

The man is worse than before.

Then Jesus applies the truth of the example…”that is the way it will also be with this evil generation.”

So many exchange one spirit for another, thinking they are improving.
Such is not the case.

There is only one “spirit exchange”… Salvation brings the Holy Spirit.
