“The Word in A Vision”

Blessings folk!

We have been experiencing a bit of how to study the Word of God.

In looking at the great cloud of witnesses of Hebrews 11, we have spent time examining some, not all, that the Word has to say about each one.

This is what one does with the Word.
Observe what the Word says…closely..throughout.
Interpret the Word based on the total context of the Word…
Apply the Truth of the Word to our lives.

We continue with Abram…a foundational passage related to the faith.

Gen 15:1

After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying,
“Do not fear, Abram,
I am a shield to you;
Your reward shall be very great.”

“After these things…”

What things?

The things we have seen about Abram to this point…

  • called from his homeland
  • in the land promised
  • sojourn to Egypt
  • separation from Lot
  • rescue of Lot
  • encounter with Melchizedek
  • etc.

The Word of the Lord came to Abram.
The Word came in a vision.
(Sadly, most believers would not receive such today. They do not believe that God could/would speak in a vision. He did. He does.)

What was the Word.
Do not fear, Abram.
I am a shield to you.
Your reward shall be very great.

What did Abram fear?
What was weighing upon his mind?

We will see…later…

For today, know that the same is said to us.

Fear not.
The Lord is our shield.
Reward will be great.

Rejoice!
