“Go…Attack…Deliver”

Blessings folk!

We are about to see some seriously amazing things.

Often Believers think that the Old Testament does not provide much for our lives.

Untrue!

1 Samuel 23 will reveal some things that will totally change how you look at the Lord and His Word.

Bold statement?

We will see.

Read.

Note the situation, those involved, David’s dilemma, David’s response, the men’s response.
Remember, always ask Who/What/When/Where/Why/How.
Interrogate the Word!

1Sa 23:1-5

Then they told David, saying,
“Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah and are plundering the threshing floors.”

So David inquired of the LORD, saying,
“Shall I go and attack these Philistines?”
And the LORD said to David, “Go and attack the Philistines and deliver Keilah.”

But David’s men said to him,
“Behold, we are afraid here in Judah.
How much more then if we go to Keilah against the ranks of the Philistines?”

Then David inquired of the LORD once more.
And the LORD answered him and said,
“Arise, go down to Keilah, for I will give the Philistines into your hand.”

So David and his men went to Keilah and fought with the Philistines; and he led away their livestock and struck them with a great slaughter. Thus David delivered the inhabitants of Keilah.

Word had come to David.
The Philistines were causing trouble again - at Keilah.

David’s response?
He “inquired of the Lord”.
He asked the Lord directly I they should go and attack the Philistines.
We are not told “how” he did this.

We are told that the Lord responded and David understood clearly.
The Lord said to “Go…attack…deliver”.

David told his men.
His mean were fear-filled.
They knew they were “out-ranked”.
They acknowledged that they lived in fear as a body fleeing Saul.
How could they now be considered to be bold enough to go on the offensive?

David’s response?
He inquired of the Lord again.
Doubt?
Double-checking on behalf of his men?

Perhaps.

The Lord is long-suffering in patience.
The Lord said “arise…go…I will give”!

They did.
They fought.
They led away livestock.
They struck them with a great slaughter.
They delivered the inhabitants of Keilah.

Sounds great…but wait! There is more…

Truths for us?
Inquire of the Lord.
Do as he leads.
