“Why Parables?”

“Why Parables?”

Blessings folk!

We continue looking at “fruit”.

We began yesterday looking at a parable the Lord spoke.
Read
here.

The disciples had a question after the parable…

Mat 13:10-13

And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”

Jesus answered them,
“To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven,
but to them it has not been granted.

“For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance;
but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.

“Therefore I speak to them in parables;
because while seeing they do not see,
and while hearing they do not hear,
nor do they understand.

Why did Jesus speak in parables?

Two-fold reason.

It had been granted to the disciples, those who believe, to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven.

Those who did not believe had not been granted such knowledge.

Jesus tells us that those who have believed will have more given.
They will have abundance of knowledge of the Kingdom.

Whoever does not have, what he does have will be taken from him.

A hard teaching.

Jesus continued.

He spoke to them in parables so that…

  • while seeing they would not see
  • while hearing they would not hear
  • they would not understand

One must believe to know.
One must believe to understand.
One must believe to see.
One must believe to hear.

Do you truly believe?
